| I don't think it's an Olympic rule. I think it was the choice of the British Olympic committee to have all British performers. Jessie must know someone since she got to sing with Queen and did a Bee Gees song along with some other one......all in flesh toned body suits. I have to say Brian didn't look overly enthused to have her there. | |

I have to say Brian didn't look overly enthused to have her there. Well from what I have seen all Olympic Host countries have had only their countrys performers. In the US for all three of their Olympics it was all US performers. Australia was Kylie Manogue, Olivia Newton John, Anthony Warlow, Delta Goodrem and so on. All from Australia. Bejing was all Chinese performers, 92 winter Olympics in Albertville, France all performers were french. So it the Home countries who chooses the acts. Canear I can't remember who performed for both Canadian Olympics. Can you? was their performers from other countries in either or was it all Canadians? I know all the commercials they had talking of the Vancouver Olympics and the home land were all Canadian athletes, actors and singers which I thought was awesome I loved seeing all of them in the adds here in the USA. | And that is why I have only watched the closing of USA Olympics. No way I am sitting through all Chinese performers.
I said I KNOW they cannot do every country. That is why I listed every continent. There are many countries who never get to host the Olympics, why should their artists automatically be excluded from ever performing at one because they cannot ever host one?? No way I will ever agree with you on this one. Olympics are supposed to be inclusive to the whole world. Artists from all over should have the opportunity.
So if it is NOT an Olympic rule, as Canear stated, the host country should not make it so.

| I was wrong on who Brittian is handing the torch to. I thought it would be the people of Soshi for the Winter Olympics but it will actually be the next summer olympics host country which is Rio. so their will be a party atmosphere for the Rio part of the closing ceremonies in a carnaval type show. Have to put this here since I don't know where else to. It is the amazing screen show from the vancouver winter olympics. My favorite parts were the whales, horses and doves at the end. http://vimeo.com/13020408Shannon | |

| Word just in for the first Olympics ever every country that was involved in this Olympics had a Woman athlete included. This makes me so happy cause I know there has been so many countries that exclude women in everything so this is a step in the right direction. ETA: have to mention this since I haven't yet. I am so happy for the countries that had athletes that won the countries first ever medal. Some of them were Gold!!! congrats to them Shannon | |

| One name not put on that list,(can't believe the person putting the list together forgot the first singer), is Emeli Sandee. What an amazing song and beautiful voice. Just found the song on her deluxe cd "Our Version Of Events". Will be buying this song in a bit. By the way the song is called "Read All About It, Part III" They forgot to put Madness on the list and they sang a fan favorite. Our House. love this song and have loved it since I was a kid. Woohoo Pet Shop Boys singing West End Girls. Love this song. One Direction singing You Don't Know You Are Beautiful. The song is actually really good with a good beat. It is a perfect party song to get the crowd going. Wow to the musical theater group Stomp. They impressed me the first time when i saw them at the Tony's but man oh man tonight I am more impressed in the group It really is turning into a brittish rock and roll party. By the way loved seeing Julian Lloyd Webber playing his cello. So gorgeous. Shannon | |

Stomp totally rocked. On Mj's they are saying that NBC cut Emeli Sandee's performance but that didn't happen on the West Coast showing. I saw it as did you Teddy so I am not sure where they cut the song. I bought that song from Emeli and just listened to the whole thing. So Beautiful. OH my God to the Gorgeous childrens choir who started off Imagine and then having video of John Lennon singing it and the kids doing sign language of the song. At the end when they made John Lennon's face was spectacular. Woohoo George Michael!! Shannon

| Love the cover of the Pink Floyd song. Ugh I could so live without Russel Brand killing Pure Imagination I guess he did okay on the second song he did but i didn't like it. turning into a dance party. don't know much about Jessie J. but her performance of Price tag was pretty good and the crowd was into it. Taio Cruz rocking out on dynamite. Crowd so with him!! Shannon | |

| Just checked out Jessie J music on Itunes and oh my Goodness she makes me think of Kelly Clarkson soooooooooooooo much. She has this song called Who You Are and it is beautiful especially the Live Acoustic version,(which i cannot get unless I buy the whole cd from Itunes bummed about that). There are about five others I like from the cd which I will probably buy when I get a new itunes card. Yep Teddy i was getting a bit choked up seeing the filmed footage of Freddy from wembly.. big white room was one of the songs I thought was good from her. The passing of the torch to Rio. The music they played at the beginning sounded like the music from the movie Rio. The woman singer in the flowing gown float is really good. shannon | |
