| FC, hope you don't mind but I thought I'd start this for those of us who might like to discuss the Olympics and so we wouldn't clutter up other threads. A couple of things today........Michael Phelps finished 4th in his race today. Congrats to American Ryan Lochte who won the Gold in the 400m Men's Swimming .Individual Medley. Also, congrats to Roger Federer who won his first round match today! | |

| I'm surprised Michael finished in 4th just shy of a medal. But major congrats to Ryan for winning GOLD!! Both the women's teams in basketball and volleyball won their preliminary matches today as well!! I got to see a little bit of both on my breaks. I'm waiting for men's gymnastics tonight and the beach volleyball too!

| Misty and Keri sure had a good fight against those Australian ladies in their first match of the games! They were both very tough and strong! Great match. | |

| My gosh so many mistakes and faults in the men's team qualifying rounds for gymnastics. It's so hard to watch I hope this means things will go much better during the finals. | |

| Just saw the nicest interview with the US tennis player, Ryan Harrison. Apparently he had a meltdown yesterday after he lost his match. He was interviewed and apologized profusely and was extremely upset with himself for what happened. He seems like a nice young man. I hope he is able to get past this and do well at the US Open. Gee, what a surprise, tennis matches are being postponed today because of rain! I was looking forward to seeing our Canadian hope, Milos Raonic! | |

| He was nasty with a capital N!.......I don't care what he said now the damage is done, I have not respect for grown ups acting like five years old.
The main court is being use, Maria Sharapova just won her match, so did Andy Murray.

| I don't condone doing that stuff but sometimes the stress becomes to much and as he said he had a meltdown. He has never done what he did before so i am not going to condemm him for this cause I have seen players like rafa and roger let their anger get the best of them before to. It dose not mean he is a bad guy. He is not in the Nastassi, Rios, Safin, McEnroe area of bad behavior,(meaning constant tantrums on court and many many fines cause of abusing rackets and people). Ryan apologized for it and none of those ever did. I am chalking it up to the stress of the Olympics and finding yourself out right away. Eta: I will throw Serena Williams in with the bad boys cause she has had some of the worst meltdowns and she is on watch still. Shannon | |

| Congrats to the men's volleyball team for their win against Serbia. They had some first round women's gymnastics qualifications earlier. Of course the whole thing is finished up now and they will show more later on including the US team. I did read results though and damn my heart breaks for my fave girl just missing out on the individual All-Around competition. I understand the two per country rule but right now I'm so upset for her. She was third overall!!!! | |

| That was a shame. .....but I guess they have to have certain rules to be fair to everyone. What a shock that the US men didn't win the 4x100 relay in swimming. Michael Phelps did his job but that darn French swimmer swam for his life against Ryan Lochte. A Silver isn't bad but I'm sure they're not happy about it! | |

| Yes that is very exciting! I didn't watch it but I'm sure to see it on the hilites tonight! One of the girls is from Cambridge, just a few minutes from here!
I've been a real lazy bum today and just watched the Olympic coverage. I'm quite enjoying it!
