Today we honor men and women who are responsible for our freedom. Not just political and social freedom but freedom to live to be what we want to be and how we want to be it. Freedom to dream of justice and hope for wrongs to be righted. We honor those who have sacrificed their very life to secure and maintain the freedom that we live out today. Never take a day for granted and never forget: Freedom isn't free.

Just saw this on Nick's twitter. https://twitter.com/nickfradiani/status/602921562631712768 I saw the PBS Memorial Concert but missed Nick singing the National Anthem. I did see Romy Carmargo's story of his injuries in Afghanittan and the work he is doing with fellow vetrans who suffer from being handicapped and needing more help the the VA can provide.

I saw Nick sing the NA. My mom called and told me to turn it on. He did OK. Nothing special. But at least he didn't mess with it. Seemed a bit nervous to me.

Loved that too Hathor. His one time on the Memorial Day concert was cancelled die to Thunder Storm just before he was due to perform.

That is too bad Kate.
Us Chris fans always did so much for the troops. Sending care packages etc.
Did you know Cindy's son died in Iraq? She organized all the donations etc.

Info from IDF regarding what has been going on. I have missed the site!
Quote :
I want to apologize about the issues lately. But we're back and on a temp basis until we can work out a more permanent solution.
But a few clarifying points first.
We cannot goto proboards or any other hosted board solution. We simply have traffic levels that don't work well with hosted solutions and also technically it's not possible, you can't convert things like that and expect everything to work, unless you're willing to spend hundreds of hours fixing stuff. It's like trying to put a hybrid engine into a gas car and expect it to just work. No the car has to be designed as a hybrid first and if it wasn't, be prepared to spend time to change everything. Not gonna happen. Even if it were technically possible, what usually happens at our traffic level on a hosted board solution, it'll just be unusably slow and they'll offer you dedicated servers at a much different price.
This is why we have dedicated servers that we purchased on our own. Bad news was that some of the hardware we had started failing and we did our best to repair it, but we had to wait for parts to come in and that process doesn't happen in days, but in weeks. And when those parts finally came but the server itself died and wouldn't start anymore, so that's why we've been completely dead for a few weeks now. Tom has spent the last 3 weekends running around and looking for parts and coordinating with me (he lives in Canada and I've moved to California) on getting this up and running again. Timezones are never fun. That was our goal, getting it up, even if it meant it wasn't going to be operating at 100%. It's still not very stable...i'm hoping it'll at least be better than the previous month before that.
What's going to happen now is that I'm going to spend some time to migrate us to more modern cloud-based technologies rather than running off of dedicated servers that we own ourselves. I've been meaning to do this for awhile now but never found the time. In the mean time, we're running on our last dedicated server and I hope it won't die like the other one did. I'm just hoping it'll hold until I can finish the migration.
Regarding the "real life" part, this is NOT our job. Tom and I both have full time jobs and families with kids. IDF is at best, a hobby for us. Something we do in our spare time. We take time, normally reserved for spending with our families (after work) to fix these server issues. We do this because we want to, not because we have to. This next part, I'm going to come off as rude but I'll chance it to say that frankly, I don't owe you anything. If you like it here, you can stay. If you don't, you can leave. That's the beauty of choice. You have the freedom to choose. If starting a forum is your choice, I wish you the best...it is a pretty awesome experience. You get great times and you can crappy ones like this. But you go into either situation with a light heart and as long as you enjoy doing it, it'll be rewarding in its own way. But please don't come here and tell me what I should or should not do and then demand that I give you a reason why I can't do it. If you were an expert in application infrastructure, you'd already know, and if you're not (which is totally okay), it's complicated to explain, which is why we give simple answers like it's not possible.
Look, I get that it's frustrating when things don't work. I'm not exactly here enjoying the downtime. I also get that we're terrible at communicating what's happening behind the scenes, I'm not disputing that. I'm just saying that I made a choice. In some cases, I chose my family first. That's all. We definitely could do a better job explaining but explaining technical details in a way that makes sense isn't easy and we decided to spend our time trying to fix the problem instead. I'd ask for patience but I know a number of you have run out and for that I am sorry. Only know that if things go down again, I get automated alerts, and I will be there trying to fix it, even if you can't see me.
Anyway, I just wanted to give an update on this since I do feel bad for the radio silence over the last few months. I'm moving again, I've started a new company, my son's graduating middle school, my daughter is going to kindergarten...it's just been crazy. And IDF isn't first on my priority list, I'm sorry. I wish i could find more time to do this. Btw, I'm not looking for sympathy, just wanted to share the situation and hope you can understand it from my view point.

Quentin posted a video apologizing for his silence. On his I cloud he is releasing all of his rehearsal footage soon to keep his fans hopefully content until he can "legally" tell us what is happening. Which he said is amazing and he said he thanked all of us fans who voted for him and keeping him in as long as we did for these amazing opportunities.
Sounds promising. Video is on his FB page.
Which I have no knowledge on how to bring here.

It is cool and I was hoping as there have not been any announcements that Q is opening for any Idol concerts that something else is in the works for him.
My fingers are still crossed that one of the opportunities is Empire which films in the summer and thus would make Q unavailable for tour.

I don't care for the show myself, but he would be very good in it and it would be a wonderful opportunity for him.

I know we have opposing feelings on Empire FC.
Empire and How to Get Away with Murder were by far my two fav new shows.
But we do agree that Q would be awesome on Empire. His style, voice, eyes etc would be riveting.

Love to see Quentin on Empire. One of my big favorites.
It would be nice of he could open some of the Idol tour with Joey.

For the last season of Idol they need to have a show where they bring back the idols who have children on the show with their kids. Seriously I want to see Oliver, River, Maddie & Hazel, Parker, Chris Daughtry's kids, Brooke's daughter, Carrie's son, Josh Gracin's kids, Phil Stacey's kids and so on,(there have been so many kids born to some of the idols I just can't remember all who had kids). So many of these kids are such characters I just want to see them all in one place
Eta: I want a show where they get as many idol alumni as possible also I just want a separate show to get the ones on there with all their kids. These kids are the idols of the future

That would be awesome but I seriously doubt they would do a separate show with the kids.
Hopefully they will do one with as many alum as possible and let them come out with their spouses and kids.
But I would NOT count on seeing Parker. Clay has spent 5 years keeping that kid hidden! Which I personally find ridiculous! But then he never ever cared to share anything about his personal life with fans. One reason he lost so many. Total blackouts of communication with them. His fans don't even know where the hell he is right now.

True FC and we probably wouldn't see Clay either I doubt he would come even though he was a runner up.
i love how Kris & Katy, Kelly & her hubby, Jason & his wife, Carrie & her hubby, Chris & his wife have been so cool about letting the fans see their precious kids. They never post two much and they make sure they are the ones posting the pics,(meaning not letting a lot of stalkeratzi around them when they have their kids with them and letting them post them). They are letting their fans see their pride and joys and it is so sweet. Seriously seeing these kids grow is just so awesome
Hathor heck yeah to what you said!!

I don't think there will be any kind of reunion except maybe the winners. It's all old news now. Only the diehard AI fans even remember those who passed through. I wouldn't care to see it myself.
