I agree Canear.  I think smaller venues like that would sell well and provide the top 11 with the prize they deserve.

It is not like Idol looses money on the tour.

They don't make the killing they used to.

From what I have read about the last two tours having totally dismal sales I am not sure they think it is a good idea.  I mean it is sad for the kids not to get to tour, however it might be even sadder to play to only 1/4 full theaters.  It's a tough call I am sure.

There is not a word mentioned about a tour on the AI website. None of the regular ticket outlets have it listed. It has become increasing difficult to sell tickets to the tour. People aren't that into the show any more, and there is no star power this year to draw ticket sales, so it wouldn't surprise me if there is no tour. It also wouldn't surprise me if this is the last season.

I believe you are right Spirit.  For sure about the tour since there is no mention on the site.

Ratings were down again this week.  I hate to see the show come to an end but you gotta wonder how long FOX will go on with it.  It is down to one night a week and sometimes just one hour.  They have their big hit EMPIRE (I don't like it but whatever )  so who knows.....  It will be really sad when it is all over though. Fourteen years it's been apart of our lives.  My mom really loves it too.  I always feel sad after the finale just thinking about waiting until it comes back in January.  The thought of the finale ending and knowing it is all over.......forever..... 

I for one am not ready to give up idol.

They are trying to sell out stadiums and that is foolish IMO.

Yep early years it worked. Now not at all.

Book the smaller venues less than 5,000 and I am sure it would sell.

Heck I haven't been to the AI tour since AI8 but I would go this year.

AI is out to make money. Smaller venues wouldn't make enough money, even if they sold out. It's expensive to send ten people on tour, so it would probably not break even, even if sold out.

I think the talent show craze has ended, as the whole reality show era has run its course. The trend now is toward dramatic shows, like Empire,
Scandal, Madam Secretary, and a dozen others. The dramas are usually very well done, with big names starring and good writers. I now have some shows to actually watch. (But I don't like Empire. Every time I try to watch it, the rap music drives me away.)

When Daniel auditioned, I just knew they were going to tell him to come back in a few years. A few years would make a world of difference for him. When they sent him to Hollywood anyway, it made me wonder if the judges know this is the last season and the last chance Daniel will have.

I think with Jax, Joey, Quentin, Qaasim, Tyanna, and Clark and Nick (to a lesser extent for me) it would be a really good and diverse show.  Throw in Daniel for the tweens and I think this group could sell more tix than the last two.

It is still FOX's second highest rated show so perhaps they will hang in there another year. 

What they really need is for a winner this season that is current and can actually sell records!

I don't see Clarke or Nick having big sales.  Too ordinary.

Perhaps if Jax, Joey or Quentin could have some big moments on the show and win then maybe they could sell well or make it after the show.

HA! Spirit - God bless you!  I find Empire just awful!  I watched the two hour season finale and just NO!

I agree though, IDOL is only going to send those kids out on tour if it is going to make money.

I didn't go to the tour last year but I would go this year if the date worked out for me. I've gone to almost every tour Idol has had. 2-4, 7-8, 10-12. The only one I really wish I had gone to and missed that I regret not making it to is season 5 with Kelli, Chris, Ace, Taylor, Kat and Elliott. Last year the tour performed at The Greek Theatre. Seasons 9-12 performed at Nokia Theatre. So it has been getting smaller.

That's terrible she had to go out and perform after just finding out her friend passed away. Major props to her. I'm glad she didn't straight out mention what was wrong. Sure it might have gotten her some sympathy votes but it wouldn't have been right to use that fact as an advantage. I personally respect her for not saying anything. On the flip side at least we now know why she was off a bit last night.

There is no way Joey would want sympathy votes or think of using her friend's death for votes.  She ain't no Gokey  

I give her a ton of credit for going out there and holding it together.  I actually now think that is why Boy George went on stage and hugged her after the judges comments.  I think he knew just how tough that was for her. 

When you think of how emotional Joey was during Hollywood I am so impressed with her keeping it together during the lives.  I was worried about that during Hollywood week. 

I love the way Joey is Joey and she wants to make it being herself and not conforming to what is typical with Idol voters.  Nice and safe like Clarke and Nick and Daniel.  Same goes for Jax and Quentin and even Qaasim.  Love that this season has a few oddballs  

And prayers for the family of Emily during this difficult time.

  for Joey.  Not only did her friend die she was murdered by that lunatic co-pilot flying the plane into a mountain.  How do you deal with something like that?  Bravo to Joey for having the courage to go on stage last night. 

They could do a smaller version of the tour if JLo gave up her salary ......... wait ............she needs to buy the sleazy clothes she's wearing. 

FC that is how I feel too. I was so disappointed that Tyanna did a Whitney song. I hope she isn't caving into pressure to try to fit in the Diva mode as she is so much better then that.

Wow that is awful but I M glad Joey didn't use it to garner votes. She is just such a breath of fresh air when she performs.

I had no idea that is how Emily died. All I read was that she died yesterday.

Knowing this makes me respect Joey all the more. If I lost a friend in such a shocking horrific way I would have been a complete mess!

I'm much more afraid to ride in a car than an airplane. And what's with pilots these days? They once were solid and dependable. This is the second plane a pilot deliberately crashed, and there have numerous incidents of pilots either being drunk or acting psychotic.

Not me! I feel way more in control in a car and on the ground! Accidents, nut jobs and terrorists oh my!

Kate, I think Tayanna is caving. She has not been nearly as good of late that I know she is capable.

Jax finally was Jax's and I loved her.

Quentin has always been Quentin. Which I love. Harry is so wrong Quentin has done two uptemp songs and 3 mid. Masterblaster and Rolling in the Deep. Clark has done ZERO uptempo songs nor has Daniel.

FC, I love that we have odd balls. Joey, Jaxs, Quentin and Quassim are definitely unique to idol and why I would go to see the tour. Are they the best singers in the world. NO but they are unique and entertaining.

All those drive cars as well.  It is just more dramatic when so many die at once.  I'm a believer in when it's your time, it's your time.  You can't do much to avoid it. 

This must be Emily ....... such a beautiful young lady.

Statistically, an airplane is far safer. Every year over 30,000 people die in car accidents and over 2 million are injured. We've all known people who have died or been seriously injured in cars. It's so common that not much is said about it any more. I am afraid to drive on highways and dread doing it.

So sad. Her mom died too. How awful for their family. She sure was a beautiful girl. Her mom and my mom have the same name.

Daniel has done uptempo. The Hall and Oats song last night. Clarke did Taking it to the Steets. I think that is the only one for Clarke though.

That is horrific. I love flying but with the tougher and longer check-ins and the crazy ass nuts out there I'm not sure I would like flying. It was very security conscious in Europe when I flew because of IRA and German PLO sympathizers who kidnapped some millionaires for ransom. We flew through Switzerland and everyone had to be searched by pat down and I was still a teen. North America was so lax compared to other parts.
