That's an interesting concept. We shall see if it works. No show other than AI has uncovered anybody who really went to the top, right? As always, I would prefer show business professionals as judges rather than stars.

In the US, no, but X-Factor UK has had the biggest star in 1 Direction.

UK also had Leona Lewis, although she seems to have been a one-hit wonder. Nobody in the US.

Susan Boyle had huge success for awhile after BGT. 

Cher Lloyd is doing very well worldwide too.  Can't remember if she is from BGT or X-Factor. 

In the USA only Idol has had real recording stars, but AGT does have Jackie and she is doing extremely well in her genre.  The singing WINNERS from AGT have gone nowhere.

The Voice - Cassadee Pope is having a little success in country music and I think time will tell about Danielle Bradbery, but she is touring with Hunter Hayes right now and he is HUGE in country so she is getting TONS of exposure.   Her album has sold 134,000 (pretty good compared to several winners recently off shows like Candice) and her single Hart of Dixie has sold 375,000.  With this tour with Hunter things could really pick up for her.   She is only 18 and beautiful with an awesome voice so she has a good shot.

This new show?  Not the least bit interested in those judges that is for sure!  Not a big Groban fan either.  But if nothing else is on at that time in the summer I will give it a shot like I did Duets with Kelly Clarkson.  Never saw any of those singers again either  

Tell me this girl doesn't look like she could be the next Carrie, Taylor or Miranda!!    

BTW Spirit, Danielle was like 16 when she won The Voice and had no previous professional work of any kind. No previous label, recordings, professional singing gigs etc.  I mention because you think that of the contestants of The Voice.  Like right now Jake, one of the 3 finalists, is 17 and also no previous professional work of any kind.

Ok, I purchased Fairytails from Amazon and it is on my phone.  It is so good!  I listened to several of his recordings and will probably buy a few more.  He has a very good recording voice.

I don't watch The Voice. I was quoting from an article I read about why it might be that contestants on The Voice, while they are very good, never seem to go anywhere.

   Yes Alex has a very good and current recording voice.

Xfactor UK has Ollie Murs and Rhydian Roberts besides 1Directon. They both are still selling albums and Rhydian has done Rocker Horror Picture Show 40 year anniversary tour, War Of The World's musical tour, The Queen musical, Grease and many concert tours of England and Wales.

Also Nashville Star has Miranda Lambert. Canadian country star George Canyon also was on Nashville Star.

Nashville Star also got Chris Young started.  He won season 4 in 2006 and he is having a fine Country career.  He released his 4th cd in 2013! So Chris and Miranda Lambert have made it for Nashville Star.

Oh do not forget the show that started all the singing shows out and that is Star Search.  They had Sam Harris who is still making cd's,(he has about 7 if not more), and staring in musicals, Linda Eder who is also still making cd's,(She has about 7 or 8), and doing musicals.  Sawyer Brown has about 12 cd's out and are still going strong.  I have seen them twice in concert and love them.  Little Texas has about 5 or 6 cd's out.

Oh since I said Star Search I had to put this in.  Leann Rymes did Star Search, Justin Timberlake was on Star Search, Britney Spears was on Star Search, Christina Agulara,(Sp?), was on Star Search.  Many of today's singing artist were on Star Search.  They may not of won or even made it big right away but that is the show that they were first on.  Oh Usher was on Star Search to but he went on as a dancer under Usher Raymond.

Oh and in the second version of Star Search with Arsenio hall we got David Archuletta.  He was 11 years old and won in 2003 and was in the challenge of champions on another season.  Here he is taking on I Surrender.  He was 11 years old here.  I became a fan of his then and when he did idol I was so stoked.

Just so it is known when he was on Star Search it was the beginning of the vocal chord paralisis but they did not know about it at the time.

I KNOW!!!  It's crazy what Angel knows!!

I had NO idea Sawyer Brown was on Star Search!! 

Of course I knew about Britney, Christina and Justin and how they all ended up on the Mouseketeers Club - along with some others who went on to be big movie/TV stars.  Talk about a talented group of kids!!

I only watched Star Search the year Sam won.  It just wasn't on at a good time for me. 

I did watch Nashville Star the first few seasons.  LOVED Miranda from the get-go and still do big time!!

Star Search uncovered an insane amount of talent that went on to become stars. But now the field is so overcrowded, few make much of a lasting impression. I'm sure a lot do carve out some kind of career, but we've seen only a handful to reach the heights of Carrie and Kelly and a few others. Most go back to their ordinary lives, but at least they had a shot at the big time.

And lots of fun and excitement.  Whatever happens to the Idol kids - you know the tour has/had to be a blast for them and being on the show and the people they get to meet.  All worth it no matter what happens after they are on the show.

I do wonder how many of the former IDOLs or contestants on other reality singing competitions are still actively pursuing a career in show business. Not necessarily singing, but some aspect like maybe songwriting or producing, or acting, etc.

That would be some interesting research. Compile a list of Idol contestants and see what they
are doing now.

Funny thing about Star Search is 4 of today's biggest stars Justin Timberlake, Usher, Brittany Spears and Christina Agulara were all on and none won.

Sounds like a job for Angel!!!
