AMERICAN IDOL SEASON 13

Now if the IDIOT PTB release Alex's what was to be single, it would sell incredibly.

Sad but Idol has become much more of a survivor type reality show than a Singing Competition where fans vote for those whom they would buy music from.  People who vote no longer seem to  care about the viability of the music and support with buying the singles and cd's.  

I do wish Caleb well.  He certainly has a powerful voice but he IMO is so dated in style.  Even Rock radio (except for oldies) play more Imagion Dragons and that style of rock vs AC/DC style rock.  I always found Calebs softer voice weak and unsupported.  Hopefully studio magic can fix this.  

FC Caleb lost more than 20,000 followers on twitter alone due to his retard comment.  Sadly these are the hardcore Idol lover middle age old hags (his words not mine) who do support with their wallets as well as their vote.  

Also usually the Idols winners single is played to death on radio the next day and on the news etc.
Nothing on the news.  But I live in Alex's home state and Mass largely supported him but zip on the radio not one spin.  Anyone know the new url for YES.Com?  I wanted to see if any radio station anywhere has played it.  Hopefully NC is.

I have said for years if Idol was smart a part of their merchandise during the tour would be CD's from the top 10 of show performances, Hollywood week, audition and a few originals.  Then by the end of the tour they would have more data as to whom sells and who doesn't.  This would help with knowing whom to sign.  It would cost so little as they already have most of the songs recorded.

I am wondering if they are going to give Caleb old rock covers for his cd?

With releasing in Aug they may be.

We will see if it actually gets released in August (hey, it could be a birthday gift for you    ) because Candice's was pushed back, and pushed back.  If they are dead set on August one has to wonder if there will be originals, his own band etc.  With the dismal sales of his single and lack of buzz one has to wonder how much $$$$ they plan to invest in this guy.

I am not surprised he lost 20,000 followers.  What a stoooopid thing to say!

As much as I do not care for Caleb, he did win and he does deserve the prize of a recording contract and decent material. IMO

His prior low sales on Itunes, low turnout at his hometown visit (even though he is from a largely populated metropolitan area) just makes it so baffling that AI covered the comments he made and then went all over board to announce at nausium his sick sick sickness.

They tried to shove a cover CD down Adam's throat so maybe this is their plan?

He may deserve these things, but the record producers do not have to spend a lot of money on his behalf and they won't if they don't think it will pay off. Did he have a poor turnout on his trip home? I was wondering about that.

Yep.  After Candice's dismal sales (you know I read that they had to give tix away to an appearnace at a mall and still hardly anyone came    poor girl)   I cannot imagine them wanting to invest much in Caleb if the single is a total fail as it appears to be.   

It will be interesting to see how the tour sells.

Hathor, Melanie's prize for winning X-Factor was a $5,000,000 recording contract and they never released an album. Only a few singles that all bombed and then she was banished somewhere never to be seen again!  Tate got an album out and dumped.  Simon signed Carly Rose and then never did a thing with her.   It all seems to be a crap shoot. Winning these contests don't guarantee you much of anything anymore other than some excitement while competing and touring.

There used to be an excitement about the winners, but it's just old news these days.

FWIW, I don't see either him or Jena being big recording stars.  I think they'll find their success with live performances.  I don't mean selling out huge arenas, but I think they can both have good solid careers touring.

As for his remarks, I thought he was talking about social media, not his fans.  I mean, they never even mentioned fans.  It was a snotty thing to say and if he did mean haters online, then he needs to develop a thick skin because that comes with the territory.  If he had gotten a bottom 2 scare that week, I wouldn't have been surprised.

ETA: I don't think any reality show competition was treated as badly as Harlemm Lee. He won the first and only season of "Fame" where they were looking for someone who could sing, dance and who also had the "X factor." The winner was supposed to get a recording contract, a mahagement deal with Johnny Wright, a role in the then Broadway production of "Fame" plus one year free at a New York hotel.

Harlemm was the breakout star of the show but then it came out that he had lied about his age and was actually 10 years older than he originally stated. Then it turned out that under the name Gerry Woo he had had a few medium-sized hits in the 1980s. FTR, the show didn't have an age limit or anything about not having a record deal before, so nothing he did was disqualifying. Most of the people on the show were in their teens or early to mid twenties though.

There was also a twist where Debbie Allen, who created the show, brought in a young dancer/choreographer to compete in the middle of the season. He turned out to be a very good dancer, but not so much a singer and got eliminated right away. BTW, that guy was Tyce Diorio who was a choreographer for SYTTYCD.

Getting back to Harlemm, he continued to be the breakout star and eventually won. He put out an album that did nothing and disappeared.

About a year later, there was an open letter from him on his website. He said he was still waiting to get most of his prizes and that if he hadn't had the free lodging at the hotel, he would have been in real trouble because he had no money. He did get to record an album, but TPTB did absolutely no promotion because they told him his story wasn't compellling enough for them to put the resources in. A lot of stores never even got his record to sell.

Unfortunately for him, because of the contract, he wasn't able to seek out or get any work as an entertainer. The last anyone heard of him, he was working as a secretary.

You aren't kidding.  No buzz at all for Idol.  NONE of my daycare kids or families watch Idol anymore.  Funny, but most of them stopped after Adam/Kris    Some still watch DWTS though.  The Voice gets way more coverage on E.T. and Access Hollywood than Idol.  Even E!News doesn't cover Idol like it used to.

I remember Clay/Ruben was HUGE!!  Like everywhere you looked!  Adam was on lots of Mags too.  I know it is renewed for next season but I have to wonder if Caleb/Jena fail and ratings continue to drop  if it will go past next season

Hathor, that is a good idea about selling the CDs at concerts.  But they won't invest in that.

Badger, they asked him his thoughts about social media and he said "I don't need 10,000 retards suggesting what songs to sing!  I am a grown man and I know what to sing!"   I put the video here and you could easily find it.  If he meant haters he would have said he didn't like it for the haters.  The people suggesting songs for him to sing were his FANS.  Haters don't bother to give you song suggestions for the competition.  The "hater wackos" was his way of trying to excuse what we all know he really meant.

I see Caleb with a career touring with a rock cover band.

They may well have careers for themselves, but just not of the superstar variety. Those are few and far between.

I thought he was talking about the fans because it had to do with the fans tweeting what they wanted him to sing. He said "I don't need retards telling me what to sing." He just has an arrogance about them that turns me off. Even after he sings, he stands there with this arrogant look on his face. I can't help but remember how sweet and wide-eyed Clay was when he was before the judges.

And his winning was the worst ending ever to Idol!  He put his hand over his mouth and laughed and walked over by the others while the band was playing his song and he wasn't singing it!!  Finally he starts.  No tears, no real touching moment, nothing!

Phillip's was the best - that song with his emotions and tears.  Then David Cook and Scotty.  I rewatched those 3 over and over again.  Kelly's was wonderful too but the show was new and the production just wasn't the same.

Caleb's winning moment was just a big nothing and he acting like it was a joke with that hand over mouth laughing!  I thought maybe it was because he hates the song.

Idol viewers have always gone for the HUMBLE ones. Calebs arrogance is his downfall.
It is unbecoming and made me like him less.

FC you forget his dig at his fans being old ladies. That was first. That turned me off. Us middle aged ladies vote and buy he would be lucky to have more of us in his fanba slowerse.

My biggest WHY is Idol had a fully loaded bus with Calebs comments and inability to sing the slower parts of rock ballads on pitch and inability to sing pop rock. His Imagine Dragons was HORRID. Instead of aiming that bus at him they pull out the sympathy card. A vocal hemorrhage takes months to years to heal if ever not a week. Google Adel.

JLO seemed to hate Jess and Alex and the bus hit them hard. Why did she hate them and why does she have the drivers seat in the bus?

I think she is the one who nixed Spencer's spot on the show.

VFTW is kaput. It imploded with bickering etc. After Smart got sued and Dave just couldn't keep it together.

The site is closed Kate but their minions still vote and try to alter the show.

They are such a bunch of losers. They don't have the power like they used to.

Oh I did not forget the old ladies comment.  I just brought that quote over from an article about the "retards" incident.

J-Lo sent the bus after Jess because she was hot!  Only J-Lo gets to be hot on the show!!!   

I think they felt Alex wasn't going to be a big showman for the finals/finale maybe    Just don't know for sure.  They sure seemed hell bent on it being Caleb/Jena in the finals.

J-lo kept Spencer out because she had a thing for CJ.

I think y'all have very vivid imaginations. LOL
