Well done with Idol for this season.

Hopefully Harry or Maarz hook Alex up with a label.

I will wait and hear the songs on the show next week.  I hope they gave Caleb a stupid song like they did Bo!! 

Harry is great and I wish he were the only one of the 3 coming back.  J-Lo NEEDS to go!  Keith is better but he showed his bias big time this season!   I think Harry is the best they have ever had!

There is a list of the top Idol money makers of 2013. Elliott is on that list. He must be doing better than we realize. He also owns a restaurant in his home town. Taylor was not on the list, but he made over 3 million.

I think both Jena and Caleb are very talented, even though I can't stand hard rock and don't love Jena's style. But I can see where a lot of America would, especially the younger crowd. So maybe from that standpoint, Idol accomplished its mission this year of trying to attract a younger audience.
Alex seems like a nice likeable guy, and his voice is one of the best male voices ever heard on Idol. But he had no sparkle, and sparkle wins votes. I doubt he'll go anywhere after Idol. There's just too much competition.

I agree with you regarding Alex.  He needed the win.  Sorry those who love him but yeah, tons of competition out there and I believe he will struggle unless he gets a good label willing to promote the heck out of him and he puts out a killer album.

Ratings dropped like a boulder this season Spirit.  I don't think those two attracted young viewers.  The ratings dropped so much they are shortening the show next year.  I put the article here.

Winner or runner-up Caleb is not going to be a huge success.  Jena - maybe success if her fanbase is the same as Fifth Harmony.  We shall see.  I think she would be the better winner for sure.  I guess I could throw some votes her way next week.

I'm thinking there are younger viewers because of the two that are left, even though ratings still dropped. The show has just about run its course, if you ask me, no matter what they do to try and change it. But then I said that at least five years ago and they are still one of the top rated shows on tv. I don't think anybody will invest much in Alex. Too risky.

Scotty looks downright sexy. Can you imagine the frenzy the girls at NC State must feel being in class with him. He is the catch of the decade.

Per Caleb - his fans are old ladies      Actually his fans do seem to be older women, much like Clay and Adam and Cookie etc.  That is the way it goes with Idol.  Maybe Caleb can turn that around if he gets with a band, but I doubt it.  He is not a sexy frontman.

Jena probably does have the young girl crowd.  They have done a lot for Fifth Harmony from X Factor.  Who knows, maybe Jena will do really well. 

I don't think anyone will invest a lot of money in Alex either.  Not a hot sexy guy, not lots of charisma, charm, showmanship etc.  Time will tell.  But many talented contestants from both Idol and The Voice have gone nowhere after the show.

Good for Elliot investing wisely and doing so well for himself!!  Nice guy.

Caleb's fans are old ladies? Really? I thought old ladies hated all that screaming and violence. And he sure ain't cute.

That is what I keep reading at IDF.  That he is the one with the "Fra" fanbase.  I can't say anything other than what IDF says because I don't follow him or go into his threads.  I only go into Jess's.  Who is the popular one at MJ's?  Her crowd seems to be older women. 

My mom doesn't like tons of yelling and screaming.  She does think Caleb has a good voice.  She wants Jena to win though.  She likes her a lot and thinks she will make the perfect Idol winner.

It's OK.  It gets a wee bit shrill for me.

I think this might be another year like last year where only the winner gets signed.  It's possible others might get signed to other labels once they're released from the IDOL contract but that doesn't happen until around the middle of the tour.

Jena could get signed whether she wins or not but then again, I think everyone thought Kree and Angie would get signed too and they didn't.  I mean they weren't signed by Interscope which is the company which signs the Idols to recording contracts.

Just listened to FC's links. I think they're both really good songs and sound like the kind of music they'd both be doing. It'll be interesting to hear what they sound like live.

Nope. Neither Kree nor Angie got signed.  I thought a Christian label would at least sign Angie.  Nada.  I think they could sign both Jena and Caleb. Maybe.  But Candice's album was such a huge flop that I just don't know what all they are willing to risk.  Of course I KNEW Candice was going to flop.  You could see that from a mile away.

If Caleb wins he will be the 4th white guy from the south to win out of the last 6 seasons! Guess the south really votes hard!

And the third winner from NC. Either we have very talented people in the south, or we don't have much else to do but watch TV.

I think the south just really supports each other.  The overwhelming majority of winners and runner-ups are from the south.

There have been 2 winners from the Midwest (David Cook and Lee DeWyze), 3 from the Southwest (Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Jordin Sparks) and 7 from the South.

The second place finishers are a bit more diverse. There have been 4 from the South (Clay, Diana DeGarmo, Bo, and Lauren Alaina). Justin Guarini was from Philadelphia although he was raised in Atlanta, I think he was based in Philadelphia by the time he auditioned for the show. Crystal Bowersox was from Ohio. Blake Lewis was from Seattle. David Archuleta was from Utah. Kree Harrison was from Texas and Adam, Kat McPhee and Jessica Sanchez were all from California; Adam's originally from Illinois though, I think.

So if Jena wins, she'll be the 3rd winner from the Midwest and if Caleb wins, he'll be the 8th winner from the South.

If Alex had made it, he'd have been only the 2nd person from the Northeast to make it to the top 2. Same thing with Angie last year.

Adam was born in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Wish we in Illinois could claim him!!

NC has had Fantasia, Scotty, Caleb, Kellie Pickler, Bucky Covington, Clay, Chris Daughtry and some others I have forgotten. Clay's theory of why so many come from the south is because there are not as many outlets for them here to become known. Playing a local redneck bar is not going to get you far.

Lee Dewyze (winner season 9) is from Mt. Prospect, IL. (hubby's hometown)

Haley Reinhart (3rd place season 10) is from Wheeling, IL.

Gina Glockson (9th place season 6) was from Naperville, IL. only about 30 mins. from us.  

Jennifer Hudson is from Chicago.

Not sure who else.  Those are the ones I know off the top of my head.  But I know there were some more from Chicago.  But not ones that made it big.

Well I hope I am right and Alex is successful. He writes and his song Fairytale is incredible.
It fits right in with todays radio.

I hate both coronation songs. Neither are current sounding.

I really like Fairytale too!  Just like I love Jess's Blue Eyed Lie!

Thing is we know from years of Idol and the Voice that most of these non winners do not go on to record deals and hits.  Only a very few.  Time will tell.

I just read that Haley Reinhart is worth almost 2 million.  So even the smaller careers can have you sitting pretty.

It always surprises me how much money they can make, even if we don't think they are doing anything much at all.

Alex's original "Fairytale" has been up on iTunes and Amazon since he sang it a few weeks ago back when they all sang their audition song. So it is available to buy and have.

Sony seemed to sign more of the Idol's no matter how high they placed. If they saw talent.
I am not sure if I want Alex signed or if he waits for another label. Such a gamble as so many small labels can screw people over too or they fold.
