There might be a new judge in town! Dr. Luke may be joining American Idol in its 13th season, a source tells Us Weekly. The 39-year-old American songwriter and record producer (real name: Lukasz Gottwald) has been in talks in becoming the third judge for the FOX series.

Dr. Luke is now in the running for the gig after deliberations with Will.i.am for the third slot were stalled due to money negotiations, the source adds. Black Eye Peas rapper Will.i.am, 38, has previously been speculated as the next choice in line.

There have been rumors about Dr. Luke in the past few months, so this report could be true. Also, Will.i.am hasn’t been named in recent rumor reports, which indicated to me that he wasn’t in the running any longer. The Black Eyed Pea wasn’t as far in his talks as Jennifer Lopez was with FOX.

With Jlo’s boyfriend Casper Smart recently letting the cat out of the bag, I think she’s set with the already confirmed Keith Urban, and the 3rd seat is still up for grabs.

So tired of reading who MIGHT be a judge!  Just announce them already!  I know longer believe any of the articles.  Since the boyfriend spilled it is probably true about J-Lo, which is a real boring shame!

It has been reported that Kanye turned down Idol. THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure glad we escaped that one! It would have been horrible dealing with him! Nicki was bad but he'd be soooooooooo much WORSE! If he had been selected I probably wouldn't be watching!

Heh now there's talk that JLO wants Justin Beiber's manager Scooter on the panel. Blah!

Ummmm he just can't break away can he??? I suppose this probably what was alluded to last week or whenever that was about him not being done with Idol after all.

And this brand new Idol? Is looking A LOT like the old version. So much for sweeping changes.

Despite other names surfacing over the past week, I’ve learned that Dr. Luke is closing a deal to join Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez as the third judge on the upcoming 13th season of Fox’s American Idol. Additionally, original Idol judge Randy Jackson continues negotiations to replace Jimmy Iovine as in-house mentor.

Lord I hope Randy doesn't come back as a judge. I hate that he is coming back as a mentor! He has always been useless as a judge.

Some are suggesting that they should have a rotating panel in the 3rd seat.

They have to make a decision soon since they start taping in a couple of weeks.

My lame brain theory for the day ......... I'm still wondering what was so urgent in LA that Adam had to fly back there for a day and a half then get right back on a plane to NYC.  It sure wasn't to pick up his suit .............

If Randy comes back again as judge I'm going to pitch the biggest fit ever. It's bad enough he will probably be coming back as a mentor filling the spot Jimmy had. Randy was pretty useless on the panel but I've seen sparks of him behind the scenes. If he were to mentor he better actually give straight talk to the contestants!

Just sign Adam already!!! Dammit!!!

I really don't understand why they don't. It's not like they would have to pay him $15,000,000 like JLo   (mind you he would probably deserve it more!). Base salary with some promotion time thrown in when he has some new music hopefully in the spring when they're on the air. They really are a bunch of dudheads there.

Yep I agree with you ladies. They've totally lost their minds over there if they don't give it to Adam. I mean honestly he would be a SURE THING. Like HELLO he's said MULTIPLE TIMES he'd want to do it. Plus, they wouldn't have to shell out millions upon millions to get him in the seat, which was reported they didn't want to go that route again. They wanted a former Idol contestant before too. Well Adam is it. Just give him the job and stop the nonsense!!

I disagree, I really hope Adam doesn't get involve with Idol, right now he doesn't need that show that is looking more pathetic by the minute.

I just saw this post elsewhere and I don't get how they can say it is irrelevant.  Look what a star Phillip has become.  Sure he is from a season ago but still, they saw the initial star power.

I do not expect Adam to be asked.  He would have been by now if he were a serious contender. 

Nothing against Harry, he seems sweet and funny, but I agree he is not going to bring in any younger viewers.  The show does seem to be getting the rep of being a dinosaur.  I would still love to see it happen for Adam because Adam wants it and I would love seeing him.

Canear I am with you!! & FC, I would love for Adam to be on Idol. Being seen twice a week.
Being funny and snarky and adorable. Being able to perform live.

I do not see a downside.
