| So, are any of you really worried about this Swine Flu? Do you think it is going to get really bad? It is a little scary. | |

| It's very scary and I'm hoping it doesn't get as bad as they think it might. We all have to be a bit more careful. | |

| I stressed to all my daycare kids yesterday that they have to be even more careful about washing their hands and sharing things etc. I wanted to stress it without scaring them too much. Thank goodness there have been no reported cases in Illinois - though I know that can and will probably change :( | |

| Some people think there is a bit of 'scaremongering' going on over this. That it is being blown out of all proportion.
But perhaps it's better to err on the side of caution than to go the other way and do nothing.

| I only read the first book and saw the first movie. I am sure they are quite wonderful. Just never really caught my fancy that much. My kids read the first 4 books and then grew out of them. | |

| Just watching the celebration of the moonlanding 40 years ago - can you remember what you were doing at the time? (if you were born then - obviously!) I was 7 years old & they wheeled out the school TV - it was big & wooden on long legs (& in black & white too) Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm...I remember the moon landing but I would rather have been outside playing! Now, to me - it is more mysterious, but for a fidgity 7 year old, I spent most of my time trying to make the other kids laugh, look out the window & only watching the "exciting" bits. Ah well! | |

| I guess it was different in a tiny village in the UK :D , though saying that I have no idea what my parents might have done- they did run a pub then. Must ask Mum when I see her! I guess though - 40 years ago - news coverage was so different between countries & I have no idea the channel it would have been shown on here...probably the BBC where at that time the announcers had to pronounce in the queens english (I'm sure RC will back me up on this!) EG Blue & Black would be pronounced Bloo & Blerck - you can imagine the enthusiasm you get from controlled queen's english! (all in one tone) *Gosh they have landed, we see a lot of bloo & blerck, jolly hockey sticks* Hmmmmmm..maybe my memory is a bit warped...but you know what I mean | |

| Well a news story that I find very funny, but very sad too. http://news.uk.msn.com/odd-news/article.aspx?cp-documentid=148730145&imageindex=1The initial response from me was to at the story as a whole, but the underlying problem for me was who was cruel enough to throw a pregnant tortoise out of a flat (which subsequently died ) & that the little girl could have been killed.I do love the reaction of the Father though..."I'm gonna sue everyone!!!!!" | |

| So much disappointment here in Chicagoland :( I really thought we had a great shot at hosting the 2016 games. Can't believe we lost on the first round. I really think this has more to do with politics and the USA not being very popular right now. Oh well, hubby was worried about the traffic anyway | |

| I read yesterday that bookmarkers thought Chicago would win, and most people thought it would be in the final 2. Surprising it was eliminated so early.
I was rooting for Rio since South America has never hosted an Olympics so yay for them. Sorry Chicago didn't get it, FC. I know quite a few people on the boards were really hoping they would win. More than likely, it wasn't so much any dislike of America but the rather stringent visa requirements that made the difference.

| Yes, I am happy for Rio. If it couldn't be Chicago than Rio was a good choice. Chicagoland really did think it was going to happen and all the talk yesterday sure had the hopes super high. Just a bummer for all the people who were so excited. I don't live there anymore - but I was born there and lived in Chicago suburbs my whole life - so that made me really want it for them. But it is wonderful that a country that has never had the Olympics is getting their big shot! I am sure they will be a wonderful host. Damn though = 48 million dollars for the bidding!!! | |

| I'm excited and happy for Rio. It's incredible to think that it will be the first time an Olympics has been held in South America. Hopefully it won't be the last time either! | |

| Well Balloon boy turns out to be a hoax. The minute I heard they were on reality tv I figured as much. They have been shopping around a tv show. I hope they have to pay back every red dime that was spent looking for that kid. Hey didn't they know not to let the kid be interviewed on tv! Kids will always blurt out the truth. | |

| Oh...I missed it being a hoax! Saw an article about the parents being charged, but didn't read the whole article! I just assumed it was a "token" gesture because they didn't know where the boy was etc....must go look at the article again! OK..new article on the BBC webpage tells me about the hoax....bit unsure about the first bit though..I'm not 6, nor am a boy, nor have I been to Colorado :pale: A US sheriff has said the case of six-year-old Falcon Heene who was believed to be adrift in a hot air balloon, prompting a major alert, was a hoax.
Sheriff Jim Alderden said the parents of the boy were actors and had put on a "good show for us, and we bought it".
