Yes, sadly I have been hearing about Borders being in a lot of trouble. It is my fave bookstore to get gift cards from. All the kids in my daycare and Eric and Justin love that bookstore. Such a shame. I am so worried about us losing ours.

It looks like they are trying to work things out. I love Borders. My store use to be on a strip mall but it moved to the new remodeled Mall and I hate going to the mall, so I really haven't been there as much.

DAMN! I just checked the list of the ones closing in the Chicago area and ours IS closing! Not only the one near us that we go to - but also the one in Dekalb where NIU is (and closest to Justin's apartment) and the one in Rob's home town and the one in my cousin's town where we visit often. So we are not going to have one anywhere near us or where we would go. So very sad.... I found it the most kid friendly of the bookstores by us. We have a Barnes and Noble near by.

New Zealand just had a 6.3 earthquake. They just haven't had relief at all. I'm waiting to hear from my friend there, who lives in Hallswell, not far from Christchurch.

My friend is okay, but she's so worried as a lot of people don't have power or phones and she doesn't know if they're okay yet. This one was very shallow, so there's lots of damage and some fatalities.

She said there are 65 confirmed deaths and a lot of people are leaving the area but they are staying put because the roads are just too busy right now and unsafe. I'm very worried and am hoping they don't lose their power because it is a possibility.

That part of NZ has really been hammered. The earthquakes and aftershocks there just won't stop. It's continuous. They're all of a very high magnitude as well and they just seem to keep getting closer and closer to the surface. It's absolutely horrifying. I simply can't imagine it. I feel so sad for all of those people.

In the last 6 hours they've had 28 aftershocks. They are very shallow earthquakes which produce a lot of damage. This site you can click on how many earthquakes in the last 3, 6, 9, 12, etc. hours........... My friend lives in Hallswell.

Is anyone surprised at this? Rules were bent/ignored to allow him to run and he won...what a coincidence
I believe Daley was forced out (at Obama's request) and you better believe rules were bent for this. Chicago politics and politicians are soooo corrupt! And "our" president is a Chicago politician. I cannot stand any of them.
Illinois is now completely bankrupt and we have the highest corporate taxes IN THE WORLD!
Our income taxes are very high and our property taxes are through the roof.
We are leaving this state as soon as we retire!

Heard from my friend in NZ. She lives on the North Island. She told me she had a friend who was rescued from the rubble. The friend is doing OK. Thank the heavens above for that. Sadly so many others are not so lucky. She's very devastated about the whole thing. It feels so unreal. She just can't believe it. She told me of so many places she's gone to see and visit in ChCh including the beautiful Cathedral. It hurts to see them all in ruins.

The loss of the sewer system is just horrible. My friend while lucky they didn't have any severe damage has been baking for the rescue troops, bless her heart. She's just devastated.
