| It looks like Joan is in the next episode though!
I recently read that the character of Joan was originally conceived differently but when Christina Hendricks came in to audition for "Midge", they persuaded her to test for "Joan" also, and she ended up getting the part. However, since Christina was a lot different from how they originally thought of Joan, basically they've been making it up as they go along when it comes to her character.

| It will be interesting to see how she comes back into the show. Maybe when the Brits leave she will be asked to be office manager again. Maybe they will beg her to come back and she can ask for a big raise!!
Not enough Peggy, Joan, Pete, Sal (because they could have really made his part interesting if they choose to explore more about him) AND I want Colin Hanks back as the priest and rekindle that storyline with Peggy. It looked like it was going to get interesting and then POOF! Nothing!

| I agree! If you ask me they really could have gone a long way with Sal's character. I am still bitter about that. And Yes what about Colin Hanks? I loved him.
I tell ya If I were Betty NO WAY would I have gone to that party with him. And she needs to take all that money she found in that drawer. And leave.
I see shades of psycho in Don's new girlfriend and boy I hope I am right .

| Awesome pic!!!
You are right! I think they could be heading to a season finale something like that movie with Glen Close!!
I would have loved for Betty to take the $$$ and the kids and hit the road that day!

| Yep, the schoolteacher is a stalker-type. What do you make of the brother? He had to be there for a reason.
I probably am missing something since this is my first season--Did viewers know that Don was married before? And what about that Dick Whitman bit? Were there papers in that box that indicated his other identity? Did I miss something in this episode? It's entirely possible because I've been sick, and tired as hell.

| Don really IS Dick Whitman. The pics Betty found were of him and his brother as children. He took Don Draper's identity during the Korean war . Don Draper was actually killed and Dick took his name. Don's wife tracked him down and confronted him as she thought her husband returned from the war and did not return to her. Dick bought her a house in Calif. So they " divorced" Although I cannot understand why he would need to divorce as he is not even really Don Draper.Do you? But the only other one that knows that Don is a fake is Mr. Cooper and Pete. Or does Pete know for sure? I can't remember. But Dick's brother found him last season and Dick basically rejected him , so the brother ended up hanging himself. Did I miss anything FC and Badger? | |

| Well, if Dick really wants to assume the identity of Don Draper, he would have to have all of Don's baggage, including the wife; thus the need for divorce.
Oh what a tangled web we weave ...

| Don's (or actually Dick's) brother committed suicide in the first season.
Pete does know about Don. He found the pictures, etc. in the first season. I think he was the one who told Bert Cooper.

| That's why I think many Mad Men fans say you need to see the show from the very first episode to really get it.
I love that Betty was reading "The Group" this episode. That's a great feminist novel which got turned into a pretty good movei although not as good as the book.

| It was awesome!! Joan was awesome! Good for Bets! Poor Dick/Don. The next two weeks ought to be good! Talk about a season that wasted Elizabeth Moss though | |

| Don probably thought everything was all right regarding their marriage and he was blindsided that Betty was still angry about it. He thought she was only upset about JFK's assassination.
I loved that Roger called Joan to commiserate about the wedding. He misses having a grown-up woman to talk to.

| I really can't muster up sympathy for Don. He is just too much of a cad. Betty isn't perfect but for the most part she does her best. She JUST had a baby - and he is out screwing his kid's teacher. He has just been a wee bit too slimy for me this season to really care for his feelings.
I actually would love for the season to end with Betty and kids leaving him. Maybe that will shape him up for next season.
It was really sad watching all the actual footage from the Kennedy and Oswald shootings. Seeing Walter wipe his eyes - that I don't remember from when I was little.
Pete was sure something this episode! Now he I felt sorry for.

| I am GLAD Betty told Don she did not love him anymore . Could you? He is a liar and a cad. I mean really she has no idea who he really is. I thought they handled the Kennedy assassination very well. I felt myself tearing up several times. Gosh did I feel bad for Margaret though. Having a wedding the day after. Sheesh.
I really think Peggy and Pete should leave and work for Duck and I hope that is what happens.
