I couldn't agree with Adam more!!!!!!!  Political correctness has become ridiculous in this country!!  I know it is the attacks on Katy Perry that brought this on - because of of Geisha attire at the AMAs.  Before it was Selena for the Bindi and I was so proud of her that she kept wearing it!! And now we can't have American Indians for anything anymore! And god forbid you make a joke against the president - even though for decades comics made a living off of it!!! But now of course you best not!!! Gag me.

Come on people! It's just for entertainment!  Nobody was hurt during Katy's performance!

FC, I did not catch Katy's performance but why is it so terrible to dress like a Geisha?

As for anything Indian being a no-no that is stupid. It is an honor IMO.

I could see people being offended if she did something obscene while dressed as a Geisha, but she didn't.  She was respectful, looked beautiful and had a stunning set.  Some people really need to get lives.  If Katy's performance offended anyone they need to go live on a remote island where there is no internet, television or radio so they don't have to see or listen to anything.

I agree Canear!  The political correctness is taking all the fun out of everything!! Here in our school you cannot answer the phone Merry Christmas - it must be Happy Holidays.  The kids can't do much in the way of Christmas celebration.  No art projects of Santa or anything like that - so as not to offend anyone who isn't Christian   Can't decorate the school for the holidays. Pisses me off to no end!!

Hathor, I too have always felt it was an honor to the American Indians.  People (especially kids) love them and are fascinated by them.  None of the teams or their mascots have ever done anything remotely disrespectful.  It is such a HUGE part of our history.  The overwhelming majority of American Indians are not offended at all.  It is the major lefties that get all this crap going.

Not sure why Katy went the geisha route for her song, anymore than I understood Selena's whole get-up and dance routine for her song.  But I sure don't think either meant any offense in anyway.


ETA: I just want to add, where we live is extremely white, Christian, conservative.  There is probably only a handful of kids at our schools who ,don't celebrate Christmas.  So hundreds, probably thousands,  of kids can't celebrate Christmas at school because there might be one or two who don't like it??? Just awful!

I don't understand why the schools that either as most of the East Indians I know are interested in the Christmas festivities and most decorate and do the present thing on Christmas Day even though they don't do the church part. So many do gooder's decide things with out consolidating others.

We have sold a bunch of cards for Chanukkah that are part Christmas too. My favorite is Santa sitting on a roof top visiting his friend the Fiddler On The Roof.

I saw that Hathor!  Ridiculous!  Redskins is nothing like nigger!! And the team sure doesn't mean it that way or they would never name themselves that!!

I'd say something, but it's just not worth it.

No one gets upset at Irish names. Celtics, Fighting Irish, Shamrocks. The PC stuff is just going too far, Everyone gets too touchy. What about the Atlanta Braves? We have a Braves hockey team here and no one goes crazy.

I remember seeing shots of the Fountainbleu when Jackie Gleason show was produced in Miami. Always thought it looked stunning on the beach.

The hotel has some stunning showrooms. I think the indoor venue will be much better.
