| Potsie, when Rob and I were looking for our second home (once Justin was born and we had two little ones our first home seemed to small) we went into a home with our realtor where the mom (30s) was caring for her 12 year old son with Cerebral Palsy. She was having a difficult time getting him out of the room and getting him into the kitchen. There she struggle to get his lunch into him. He had a severe case. She talked to us a little bit. He was her first born. They felt they were not in a position to have more children because she needed to quit her job to care for him round the clock. Without her job they reached the point were they had to sell their home.
So there she was - early 30s, gave up her career, any future children, her home, and her life was in the house all day every day dealing with his struggles just to get from room to room or fed. I cannot begin to imagine all the hopes and dreams of a wonderful family life together becoming what her life sadly was - 24/7 for years and years.
Not to justify in anyway a parent who takes the life of the helpless child. But thinking of that woman just puts it all in a little different perspective. The stress emotionally and financially has to be unbearable at times.

- Thank you for posting all the tweets from some of the Idols and others Angel. I had seen some of them last night. Watching the videos and listening to the absolute panic and horror in the people's voices brings tears to my eyes. My heart hurts for everyone involved.
Your welcome. Sugarland posted this open letter on their site. I love this. Prayers still going out to all in Indiana, all the people who lost loved ones and all who were injured. I will add prayers go out to anybody that was from out of town and just passing through like Sugarland and Sarra Barallis that witnissed this freak happening ********* Dear Fans, Family and Friends,
We have taken a couple of days to try and even begin to emotionally process the magnitude and gravity of the tragedy in Indiana on Saturday. While the path to healing from this type of trauma and loss is long and winding, we wanted to reach out and update you on where we are and how we are.
We are in the process of planning a private memorial in Indiana, to honor those fans who died. We would first like to hold space so that their families can have time to go through their own services and memorials. Until that time we are holding vigil for them. We join them on their mourning benches. And we stand in the gap asking God to offer them peace and healing. For those suffering from injury we hold you up with prayers for complete healing of your own.
We are also addressing our own specific healing. Our road family experienced its traumas together. While we all scattered to our given families for their comfort, the trauma we experienced together binds us in a unique way that we share only with each other, and those who were there. There is healing in our being together. There is healing in our working together. For this reason we are planning to get back on the road this weekend, beginning with our scheduled show in Albuquerque this Thursday, August 18th. The emotions have us yearning to be close to each other immediately. The logistics have us needing to replace all of our instruments and equipment. (The set is a loss that is insignificant in light of the tragedy.)
This Incredible Machine is more than a tour and more than a set. We have always celebrated music as a Healer. While music cannot change the events and losses at the Indiana State Fair, it can hopefully serve as a ritual and a balm to provide comfort and facilitate healing in this time of great sorrow. We hope to see you all soon.
Love, Sugarland************** Shannon

| Tears. I am in tears. What a beautiful open letter.
I don't know if it's true but my mom had heard Sugarland was just a minute or so away from taking the stage. The tour manager or whomever had reportedly postponed them from going on stage. If this person had not done that they would have been up there as it collapsed and God only knows but they probably all would have died.

The letter is a tear jerker for sure. Shannon

| I'm afraid in this case I am against Piers. Why not discuss the serious matters of the country and it's economic collapse and get off the issue of gays. I say he was looking for trouble and he got it. I think he loves that it turned out the way it did. I wish people could keep the religious beliefs out of the political discussions. | |

| Those poor people over there. These monstrous earthquakes continually keep hitting the same town over and over again. I wish Mother Nature would give them all a break. They could certainly use it and deserve it too. My heart goes out to all of them. | |
