Eli Mattson - He's Got Talent!

AGT doesn't have guest judges........at least not so far this season....... I don't know if they've taped ahead of what is being shown.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. I understand Melissa Lawson who was the last Nashville Star winner is going to be on a reality show this summer too. I wonder if it's the same one.

Eli. But after a few months, Tommy Ray seemed to fit better so I changed it.

I think AGT is kind of like the new incarnation of Star Search. Both shows promise stuff but they never work out. Like on Star Search,(the one with Arsenio Hall as the host), The adult singers that won were supposed to get record contracts. Well Jake Simpson won twice,(his season and the big challenge past champions one); both times he won he got a contract and it fell through. He did get one cd out for the first contract but that was it. For the second one he got his single which he sang on the show; For his Christmas cd and his other cd he did them on his own and got them on Itunes. His record labels seem to not even try to do anything for him. I think with AGT it may be the same thing. If a record label gets the singers it is not for long. I think they just don't take them seriously and let them go. I hope something happens for Eli.

I think you're right that the record companies don't take them seriously. This may be justified in most cases. The vast majority of contestants on AI that got record contracts made records that didn't sell. Sometimes they benefit from having been on AI recently, but then fall flat after that. Contestants on AGI fare even worse. It's like a freak show. When it's over, it's forgotten. So the record companies aren't in a hurry to sign any but the most promising, and those are rare. Sometimes they miss out. Like Quiana. And like Eli.

Star Search was better than AGT because it didn't have all the freaks.

There are now so many of these types of shows and so many contestants that I think only the really, truly amazing and interesting contestants have a real shot at huge success. Like Adam. Someone who really stands out and is unique and exciting. These white guys with guitars are just going to get lost in the crowd of white guys with guitars.

Melissa's still recording but she doesn't have a major recording deal. She does mainly country and gospel/contemporary Christian music now. She's also lost over a 100 pounds.

Aaron Kelly sings Walking in Memphis on the current AI tour. I saw a YouTube. I liked Aaron and the little girls love him, but there is no comparison with Eli's version. That song requires a depth and maturity that Aaron has not lived long enough to have. Comparing the two performances shows clearly how amazing Eli was with that song.

This is Aaron. Now if Aaron gets a recording contract and Eli never did, I'm going to be royally ticked off.

I hate the way he uses his arms when he sings. The back and forth to his chest. Just bugs. I cannot see this kid getting a major label deal. But I agree - if he does and Eli doesn't it will be a crime

I don't like watching or listening to Aaron,................... It may very well be an age issue, but then if he was that good, then why didn't HE win?

You guys how old is Eli and How Old is Aaron? I think comparing the two is just off cause Aaron is still coming into his voice. I doubt we will be seeing Aaron get any type of record deal for quite a while, but I have heard that people in Nashville have taken an interest in him so maybe someone like John Rich could work with him to help him get better. As for ELI I think the problem is he did this show. As I posted earlier I just don't believe record labels take the singers from this show seriously so they kind of just let them go without even really looking at them.

That is true, but he wasn't the best one, just my opinion.

Aaron wasn't close to the best in my opinion. Several were better.

I didn't mean I thought Aaron should have won AI or that he was the best. Not by a long shot. He was only there to pick up the teeny bopper crowd, I believe. I was referring, of course, to the previous year's results.
