Adam Lambert Critiques Last Night’s Grammy Performances February 14th, 2011 | Author: mj
Adam Lambert tweets about his favorite Grammy moments last night:
arrives at The 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards held at Staples Center on February 13, 2011 in Los Angeles, California.Despite it being similar to some other tunes, Born This Way has an incredible message and has been stuck in my head for two days!! Get it GAGA. Can’t wait for the album.
My other Grammy fav moments were: janelle/Bruno/b.o.b., the Aretha tribute, (vocals!!) Katy P and Muse.
CeeLo was great too but Idk what the hell Gweneth was doing up there. Usher and bieber’s dancing was sick- but their vocals? Eh. Just being honest.
These opinions come from being in the live audience- mY have sounded different on tv (always does)
But hey- last time I did an award show performance I was a mess so… Haha shit happens.
I said something similar last night about Gwyneth Paltrow’s duet with Cee Lo. She was just taking up space, in my opinion.
Oh noes. Justin Bieber fans are preparing for battle as we speak! Watch out Adam, do you know what you just opened yourself up for? Ask Esperanza!

I changed the channel when that Cee Lo guy came on. I had no interest in that part.
I couldn't believe what those Bieber fans did to the woman who won! The things they put on her Wiki page and all over the net!
Well, I said the same thing Adam did. Justin can dance put he can't sing and he sure didn't deserve to win that award anyway. I'm sure Adam was listening to him singing last night thinking "HE gets a BNA nom and I didn't?" Because that sure was what I was thinking. He is so overexposed right now too. Can't wait for this "fever" to die down. I can't remember the last time I saw such a big deal made over some kid who just isn't all that. That Greyson (sp?) kid Ellen signed is way more talented.
I never thought Usher could sing. I never understood why he was so popular. He is not even good looking IMHO

I like early Usher. That's the Usher from my high school years. This current version I could care less about.

Usher started out as a Dancer on Star Search. He then went by his full Name Usher Raymond. He could dance up a storm and he got noticed by a lot of people cause his moves were good. He always said he looked up to Michael Jackson and that is why he did a lot of his moves. From what I remember that got back to Michael and also to Kenny BabyFace Edmunds. I honestly never knew Usher was a singer Babyface found that out and signed him. I am not a huge Usher fan but I like a few of his songs like "You Got It Bad".
I believe Gwyneth was there with CEELO cause she did his song on Glee and did a pretty decent job. Some people may not know who Ceelo was. I admit I didn't know who the person was when mentioned on Glee but Gwyneth people know and she got some to hear that song.
ETA: Teddy you did it; you changed your avi :) I can't change mine until I get a new Kradam one. I am thinking of having a new Kradam siggie made though.

Yes, I think that's why Gwyneth was there too. She did the song on Glee and got quite a lot of recognition for it and because of that the song itself got a lot of recognition too. Since she helped popularize it more I feel like that's why they hooked the two of them up to perform it on The Grammys. Don't ask me about the Muppets or anything else associated with the performance because I haven't a dang clue what that was supposed to be. I found it silly but ridiculously entertaining because it was just so crazy.
Now I know I might get tomatoes for this from some but I'm going to say it anyways. JB is an extremely musical and talented kid. He might not have the greatest voice in the world or much of a voice really, but, the boy has music in his bones. He's certainly not my cuppa. However, I've recently grown quite an appreciation for him. I know he's very overexposed right now with the movie and everything but it will calm down. By the way I'm not saying this as a negative towards him but believe it or not his movie didn't get the top spot like many thought it would at the box office this weekend. Just Go With It starring Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler nabbed #1 although I think it was only by a slim margin.

I have never seen such over exposure of a kid. It WILL backfire on him. It always does. I am already seeing it in comment sections around the net. He will go the way of the Jonas Brothers. I read that the overwhelming age of the audience for the movie was 8 and 9. Girls. They will love someone new by next year. Maybe this gorgeous young guy from Australia who is just starting over here. I believe his name is Cody. With that face and that accent and the maturity about him I can see him appealing to many. Even I liked him in his interview!
ETA: and if I didn't watch Glee I would have been WTFing all over the place with Gweneth being a part of that number. I didn't watch it - but it was shown on ET and she did not sing it that well and is the man trying to be the new Elton with that outfit? I also have no clue how The Muppets ended up in a song with that title. Muppets = family friendly. This man - not so much.

Well I'm getting tired of the criticizing of Justin, even from Adam. I think he needs to remember that he wasn't exactly stellar on his AMA appearance and how it felt to be criticized.
From all accounts, Bieber is a good kid, setting a good example for young kids. It's not all about the voice.

Adam made the comment that he too was bad at the AMAs. I don't think he said anything wrong. He said the kid could dance great. He said nothing about the kid as a person.
If you are going to be THAT overexposed you are going to hear about it. It's gotten that bad! You can't turn the TV and not see him. He is everywhere and it is turning people off.

I don't understand how anyone could laugh at the remarks that Joan made and it's not because she's talking about Adam. I just don't like making fun of anyone.
Beiber may be a good role model for the young kids, but he's way too overexposed right now. Even my grandson wants to see his movie because he's seen ads about how talented he is, before all this hoopla, he didn't like Justin at all.

Sky - I haven't watched the Joan clip. I don't watch any videos until the twins are on the bus and the babies are napping.
That is the thing FY. I think if he were treated like any other newbie in the biz and the promo was more normal I could deal. But this shoving him in your face everywhere you look (nail polish isles? really?? He doesn't wear it or make it so WTF?) and promo-ed like the greatest young talent since MJ then I could deal with him.
Instead you have a mediocre talent thrown at you everywhere you look. And really it is all about him being cute. You take the same amount if talent but the kid is pudgy with zits and you got nothing happening. Let's just see how this kid on Idol (Jacee) with the superior voice - but not the looks - makes it.
ETA: I know it isn't the kid's fault he is being pushed like this. I see a lot of adults looking to make huge bucks off the kid before the "fever" cools off. His voice is going to change and next year there will be a new hot tween star. Happens all the time. I will be stunned if he turns into the new Timberlake.

You make it sound like it's a bad thing that your grandson wants to see it.
FC I honestly don't understand such strong dislike for him. He's not the first, nor the last, who will have this much exposure. Let's face it, it's not always the most talented artists who make it big and get this much attention. I almost have to ask if it were Adam getting this much attention would there be such a problem with it?

It's not a bad thing, Canear. My GS doesn't like the music (so he's said) but he's interested because he saw JB playing the drums at a young age on all the promos and everything else he's done. I'm sure with his age group all the kids are interested, so he would be too. My GS is 10, so I don't have a problem with him wanting to see the movie or even liking the music, that's a normal reaction. I was just a bit surprised because up until now, he did not like JB.

I would absolutely not want this much overexposure with Adam!! People always tire of it. Better to leave them wanting for more. At least with Adam the phenomenal voice would at least merit the hype. This kid does not live up to this hype as far as his talent goes. I cannot help but laugh when a 16 year old goes on about working so hard his whole life for this. He is freaking 16! He had success at 14. Adam spent 10 years trying to break in and at 29 is still working hard to make it happen. Most 16 year olds haven't even gotten their first job yet. Yeah, I find it all OTT.
I'll pick on another kid to balance it out - did you hear Willow Smith's interview with Ryan? She said she is so proud to be changing lives with her hit song. It's about whipping hair back and forth How is she changing lives? Kids and show biz
ETA: Yes, others have had a lot of exposure before - but I honestly have never seen it like this. On radio, acting in TV shows (CSI) a movie of his life, commercials on TV and in print, nail polish ads and on and on. But like I said - TPTB know the shelf life is short on these kids and want to make hay while they can.

WOW! Not funny or cleaver at all. And honestly, she is about the last person who should be critiquing people's appearances. She doesn't even look normal anymore with all that plastic surgery. Otherwise yes - everyone had awesome things to say about him.
