Posting this article which shows the cold hard facts of being on a major label and now i kind of see why some artist do not mind going indie.

That is positively insane. INSANE. I knew from before that the artist doesn't make anything from album sales (usually) but gosh damn at those statistics. I can't even comprehend everything in that article. Again it's INSANE.

Carrie is at #5

Adam is at #25

Phillip's EP debuts at #28

Kelly is at #39

Haley is at #48

Kris is not in the Top 50 so not sure where he is this week.

11,340 for Adam is good, I hope he is gaining new fans and he continues charting.

It's going to be hard to gain them on this side of the ocean until he gets more radio play. Hopefully the British press tour and Queen performances will work their magic over there!

Check out this new article about how consumers are with Music right now. This makes me so sad for artist that are working their asses off to make amazing cd's and are having trouble selling them cause of stuff like this To me this goes in the same area as stealing someone's music cause you don't want to pay for it.

That's a very interesting article. It is sad to see like you said. I personally don't use any of those streaming sites. I actually want to OWN my music.

Streaming sites are okay for say playing stuff on your computer at work if you are aloud to but I am another who would rather own my music. I like to play what i want when i want to and I only want to play stuff I want. With the may not streaming sites most times it is like radio except it plays stuff that you are more interested in but still they do play songs that you may not like.

Again breaks my heart artist put so much into trying to make a cd they can be proud of and that people will like but people don't buy it for whatever reason.

Very sad indeed....I like to own the physical CD.

I don't care to own cd's. But the artists need to get paid.
I think the music industry is undergoing a revolution in the way people get music. It went from records to tapes to discs and now the internet. Somebody will figure a way to make it pay.

I'm old fashioned, I like having the physical CD in my hands. I don't like buying it song by song and I'm not into IPads and the such. I stick a CD into the player in the car and voila! Artists put so much hard work into the CD's I think the least people can do is buy the entire thing and not rip it off from streaming sites. I know things have changed but people need to have a conscience about it......too bad many don't.

If the music is there and available, people are going to download it. The way music is paid for will have to change, is all.

Not only don't I have an Ipad or Ipod - I don't even have an MP3 I am a CD girl all the way

I love my iPod. I couldn't be without one now that I have it. It's very convenient and easy to use. I love being able to travel and have pretty much all my music available to me. It's so much better than having to decide between a few CD's to go with a player.

It's a lot like kindle vs books. I buy books by my favorite authors and keep those, but the kindle is convenient and easy, especially for travel. I don't listen to music much. But if I did, I'd get an iPod.

I'm sure Ipods are great - but I work at home so CDs are easy and when I drive it is easy to pop the CDs in.

I suspect cd's will become extinct in the not too far future. Like typewriters, answering machines, phone booths.

Oh I am sure of it. But until they do I am getting them to hold onto!

It's having a physical collection and looking at them. Can't see them in an Ipod. It's fun having the artwork and inserts and booklets and some have posters. If it is an artist you are a super fan of - those are so nice to have!

Exactly! I still have vinyl records of my favourite artists from many years ago.

Sadly, in a lot of ways, it has become a society of convenience.

I love and adore my physical cd's and play them all the time in the house and in the car but I also love my ipod. I would go crazy without it when I am out and about doing errands or at the gym. I love to be able to buy singles from itunes or buy only the songs i want. I see as long as you are paying for those songs you are still supporting the artist. I tell ya being able to choose the songs I like on some has made it where I bought half of a cd on one i probably would have not bought otherwise,(physical cd). If the artist is a fave of mine I will buy the whole physical cd and the Itunes digital one for my ipod. I support the artist buy buying what i can and what I like.

My guess is it still makes the artists sad. The songs are their babies and some are treated like the ugly stepchild that nobody wants
