| It was an awesome episode!! I had NO idea that Don wasn't Don! I was totally confused, but since Justin watched season 1 he filled me in on that.
Well, I find Joan kind of bitchy so I didn't mind that. BUT, yeah - the new secretary is rather sneaky and I think she may cause some trouble in the future! Yes, she is insanely pretty!
I was thrilled to see that Sal's wife is an actress I loved from Everwood! A show I adored and to this day I am still pissed it got canceled after season 4. She was just awesome on Everwood. I adored her and her character so I am so excited to see her working again! I feel bad for her though - clearly he doesn't love her the way she loves him :( I think we may see him come out to somebody though. Clearly he is smitten!
Excellent show! Sad some people just can't get into it.

| Didn't you LOVE the fact Betty threw up in Don's new car? I did. | |

| Man, did he get served or what?!
The Projectrungay guys do a recap of the show on their other blog and someone commented that even Stonewall wouldn't have changed things much for Sal because he would have been too old by then for it to make any real difference.

| The show has been hinting at the gay angle for awhile now. I noticed Sal looking at someone else a few weeks ago; he asked him how he had been like he had seen him at a club somewhere.
And also, the two men brought in to the creative department when they wanted new young talent appeared to be brining that angle in as well.
But I agree with what was written above, that this angle will have a hard time coming out in that time period.

| Jon Hamm was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel last night and it was a fun and funny interview. Apparently they are good friends. He is nominated for an Emmy and talked about how nervous he will be if he wins and has to make a speech. Jimmy Kimmel was, of course, giving him all kinds of "helpful" advice. | |

| Knowing Jimmy I can only imagine I thought Jon Hamm won some awards for the show already? I will have to check into that. ETA: OK, he won a Golden Globe last year. He was nominated for an Emmy and a SAG - but didn't win either. | |

| He is up against some good actors, including Hugh Laurie and James Spader, who are previous award winners, and he didn't seem very confident of his chances. From the little that I saw in that short interview, his RL personality seems to be the opposite of his character....fortunately. | |

| OK, I just watched my tape of last night's episode! So good! So upsetting! This show is really going to have some great stuff ahead! I won't go into detail until I know everybody has seen it. My tape went a little over as I didn't stop it in time, and I got the first 5 mins of "Breaking Bad". What the heck is that about? It looks soooo interesting in the first 5 mins and then DAMN the taping stopped! I should have kept it going! I am now going to have to check on-line and see what it is all about! | |

You'll have to wait two weeks for the next 'Mad Men' episode Oh no! There won't be a fresh episode of "Mad Men" on Sept. 21. The folks at AMC don't want to make viewers choose between watching the drama that night and watching members of the cast possibly pick up awards at the Emmys, which air Sunday on ABC (the show already won several technical Emmys at a ceremony over the weekend). As I noted this blog post, the next episode of the show, "Six Month Leave," is terrific, and I can't wait to discuss it with fellow "Mad Men" fanatics. Now I'll have to zip my lip about the episode until Sept. 28, and that will not be easy. If you must know a little bit about what happens in that episode, there's a description of it on the second part of this item. (The picture above is from that episode.) Here's the schedule for the remainder of "Mad Men's" second season, per an AMC press release that went out moments ago:
- Sunday, September 21: Episode 204, “Three Sundays” (ENCORE)
- Sunday, September 28: Episode 209, “Six Month Leave”
- Sunday, October 5: Episode 210, “The Inheritance”
- Sunday, October 12: Episode 211, “The Jet Set”
- Sunday, October 19: Episode 212, “The Mountain King”
- Sunday, October 26: Episode 213, “Meditations on an Emergency” (SEASON FINALE)
AMC also noted that it will air a marathon of the first eight episodes of the season on Sept. 25, starting at 3 p.m. Central Time. AMC's description of "Six Month Leave": Freddy Rumsen disappoints his team during a pitch. Pete finds an opportunity at the office to exploit while Don proves his loyalty to an old friend. Betty finds a welcome distraction in Sara Beth. |

| I finally watched Sun's episode last night. Man this show is beyond excellent. January Jones did an excellent job this ep. Man when she was breaking that chair??!! Do you think Betty is angry? You know Don kept saying he didn't do anything. I wonder if that is what he thinks , that he did nothing wrong? after all his whole life is a lie. Maybe lying is nothing to him. Also how about the way Joan was treated? That sux. She was doing a terrific job and ROGER shafted her. I think we need to start a write in campaign to KEEP Colin Hanks. I love him . And he and Peggy have tons of chemistry! | |

| OH YAY! I am so glad we can talk about it now!
What happened to Joan made me want to go through the roof!! I was pissed for her and sad for her!! I wanted to smack Roger right off his high horse chair!
I said to myself that January Jones deserves an Emmy nomination for her performance in that episode! I really felt her pain. Damn she is gorgeous to boot!
Don? Well, he made me sort of hate him the other night with his denials, but sad for him too because he seems so messed up emotionally. Again, excellent actor - especially when you see him interviewed and he seems so the opposite of Don.
YES! STAY Colin STAY!! I wonder if that was really him singing and playing guitar?? If so, he is very talented.
I really foresee something happening between him and Peggy. It just seems that they are leading up to that.

This was the part of the show that really got to me. When I first went to work in a corporation, there were women employed there who used to share stories very similar to this with me. They warned me to be careful of it. So many had trained men for jobs they should have had but never did. I was so lucky that I came in when changes were just starting big time. But this hit me hard watching it. I remember when I first decided to leave teaching and move into the business world. The first question I would be asked is "can you type?" I said "yes" and was told, oh, then you'll be alright!! wow did that ever go through me at times. Not so much in the beginning, but after I was more familiar with how things worked, it really hit hard.

| Yep. I think that scene was tough for a lot of women of many ages The work place is still not fair to women in several areas. | |

Don Draper to Host ‘Saturday Night Live’ Photo: Getty Images In what's surely the greatest news we've heard all week, Mad Men's Jon "Don Draper" Hamm will bring his philandering, stone-faced charm to Saturday Night Live as the host of this season's October 25 episode. But which lucky SNL cast member will get to play Joan Holloway in the MM sketch — Amy Poehler or Bobby Moynihan? [ IMDb via Videogum]

| I will be sure to watch SNL on Oct 25. The MM type skit should be really good....there is so much material to work with. I think Jon Hamm will be a great host. Yay for MM winning the Emmy for Best Drama. It's well deserved. | |
