Well only the rest of the country is to blame for that!

No, because the rest of the country voted for who they like best based on talent etc. therefore the rest of the country's votes were divided up between many contestants.  The south states voted  based on the fact that they were from the south.  Not only have the overwhelming majority of winners been from the south, but also the runner-ups.  Look at how many seasons both 1 and 2 were from the south.   Several winners of The Voice have been from the south (and country singers) and there is a reason Blake Shelton has been the coach with most of the winners.   The southerners vote for the southerners.

UGH...  I did not like that song at all.  Maybe when he performs the whole thing I will like it more

I just went through the whole Top 200 list and did not see Nick. IDF has him at 352 as of 1:30 PM.  I do not think that number is correct unless it is a different chart than the top 200.

Every single thing Sawyer has recorded is in the Top 200 on iTunes!!  Man, do those contestants get any money for these sales??? 

I didn't see anything from any of the Idols in the Top 200 chart.

Haven't a clue about him.

He is the frontrunner on The Voice and everybody expects him to win!  He is an awesome 16 year old artist!  Right off the farm in upstate New York.  Sweet as pie and such an artist!!  I love him to bits!!  Cannot wait for an album from him!!

Canear, do yourself a favor and watch this kid's Blind Audition!  He was 15 at the time!  Three coaches pushed their buttons and turned for him before his first verse was over!!  Shortly after Blake turned too!  Adam predicted he would be the last one standing and he will be!  He is so awesome!!

Maybe so many win from the South because there's a lot of musical talent here. LOL A lot of music and musicians do come out of the South. Clay was asked that question once and he said because there aren't a lot of outlets for a talented person to get "discovered" in the south. So when something like AI comes along, they go audition. That doesn't make much sense. I like to think there is just lots of music in the Southern soul.

Oh there is no lack of talent coming from the south!!  I like a lot of country music and country artists and a lot of blues too.

Just saying that southerners are very loyal and dedicated and support their artists over all others. 

It's not wrong or bad.  It's just that it screws over contestants in the competitions who are not from the south.   It happens on The Voice too.  But not quite as much. Sawyer is from upstate NY and no way that kid isn't winning.  BUT he is a farmer and maybe that makes him close enough to good ole southern boy

FC, I think you are right. There is plenty of talent in the North and Cali.

I also believe the south votes for their own.

New England has varied taste and would vote for a contestant that has sings what they like.

Maine for example is country. They love country.

Parts of NYC would be totally R&B

etc.

That is exactly it.  The rest of the country votes are spread out between several contestants but all of the south is voting for their southern contestant.  Puts them at quite the advantage.

Itune sales chart. Nick has fallen some but still way ahead of Clark and Jax.

Adam's Ghost Town is still selling well.

Sawyer Fredricks is all over the charts selling every song he has sung.

You guys are making it sound like Southern contestants shouldn't even compete and stand back so others can win.   

I guess I don't understand the importance of the ITunes charts.  I'm not into ITunes so to me Billboard is the standard. 

Anyhow AI isn't so important to me tonight.  I'm much more concerned about Montreal winning their game tonight so they can play game 7!!!!  They have the weight of an entire country on their shoulders right now.

Nobody is saying that at all. It's not the contestants fault. It is the southern voters fault for voting based on where a contestant is from. That shouldn't matter.

Have you stopped to consider that just maybe it's the fact that they actually LIKE the people they're voting for? That maybe the fact the contestant might be from the South is only an added bonus and another reason to support them? I

Well of course that's true. But there's a reason winners and runner ups are overwhelming southern on these shows and it's not that the ones from other states are not as talented. You do know this is something that has been discussed by many people for years on many boards and not just me being a bitch.

Yes I realize it's been talked about for years and by many. I know it's a hot button topic. I guess I just don't think it's completely fair to say the south basically sticks to their own because hey they are their own and that that is all it takes. The only reason for them to give their support to those contestants. It can't all fall on the south. They shouldn't be blamed. Goodness, I for one have loved many of those contestants too as I'm sure many all around the US have too.

It's been talked about since Clay was defeated. It's not all Southeren States either but more deep South Alabama being the big one that people talk about. AI forums were full of people who say they vote for someone from their state but would never ever shell out money on real music.

Itunes is very important as it is $$$ talking by people who buy singles.

iTunes shows if someone has selling power. This group of Idols has not sold well at all.

BTW Canear, Bea Miller has 3 songs on the iTunes pop chart. Very good for her!
