PostSubject: Re: OSCARS FOR 2012 FILMS   OSCARS FOR 2012 FILMS - Page 2 EmptyMon Jan 14, 2013 2:49 pm

Sky, did you watch her speech? I posted the video on the last page.

Jodie's speech may have been disjointed and rambly. She did jump all over the place. However, there were so many moments in it that were simply brilliant. I've watched it about a half dozen times already and each time it never fails to move me.

My vote for original song was split. I was hoping for both Bon Jovi and Adele. I thought Adele was just a delight and such a hoot!! Her reaction to winning was completely honest and totally her. I was thrilled for her.

I find it so intersting how two girls very close in age (Adele and Taylor) with their varying backgrounds and lives they lead put aside have such different approaches to music. Adele is so emotionally aware, raw and mature. She reaches deep down into her soul, down to the bones, and makes you FEEL right along with her. She's wiser than her age would lead you to think. Taylor makes you feel sure but not at all in the same ways or even to the same degree. However, somehow both have massive appeal and are popular beyond anything. It's crazy. I know Taylor has real brilliance in her. The song she was nominated for clearly shows that.

Yes FC it can be a real bummer when a lot of the same people win over and over again. There are many great shows on network television that display superb acting. As the years go by it seems to become increasingly harder and harder for many of them to get recognition let alone win.

I love Jennifer Garner. I'm so thrilled she and Ben found each other. They're such a gorgeous pair and they have quite the little family! How cute was it Jennifer had to thank George and one other guy before she presented because Ben forgot. I loved that part!

Yes, I did watch Jodi's speech. I personally loved it and yes it was kind of all over the place but I think she just had a lot to say and wanted to make sure she said it all. Love her, she's a brilliant actress. I'll never forget Taxi Driver.

Reese Witherspoon looks beautiful in her blue dress!

Amy Adams dress is definitely something!

Channing Tatum's wife looks stunning in the black lace dress!

Well, I have fallen asleep 4 times during it Rolling Eyes It is just toooooooooooooo long.

Happy for Anne though.

I was not impressed with Adele's performance of Skyfall. Sorry. Boring song and her voice was drowned out a lot. Jennifer Hudson sang rings around her and the instant standing ovation from the entire audience was proof of that. I just find Adele so overrated. She seems very nice though.

In fact - I found all the ladies of Les Mes more impressive - especially Anne. Gorgeous voice.

I didn't see any of those. I did see Nora Jones and thought she was awful. Shocked

Yeah for Argo winning Adapted Screenplay! ....and for Quentin Tarentino for Original. He is such a character!

I wonder if whoever wins for Director will thank Ben for not being nominated. lol!

Just because Ben and Jen look so wonderful! It's not fair than Jennifer looks so good after 3 babies!

Daniel really is a genius. I found it surprising that he is the first lead Actor to win 3 Oscars. I mean Deniro and Nicholson never won 3. Amazing.

Justin would tell you NOBODY touches DDL!! He is soooo obsessed with DDL's abilities. He sees all his films. The only part of the Oscars he watched with me is Best Actor and Best Picture. He was rooting for Lincoln but is fine with Argo winning. He liked it a lot also.

I'm thrilled for Ben and Argo!!!! Ben's speech was fantastic!

YAY Anne!!!!!

GO DDL! He's so sweet, funny and charming! Wonderful man!

Happy for Jennifer but I was a little bummed for Jessica.

J-Hud WOW'ed that crowd! GO GIRL!

Loved the cast of Les Miserables performing!!

Adele just rocks it. She's the current queen of music. I knew she'd win tonight! Now all she needs is a Tony HA!

I thought Seth was a great host! Some of the jokes were a bit awkward in timing but they were funny.

Overall I enjoyed tonight very much!

Did not see the Oscars cause I do not have ABC in my room but I did see the video of the celebration to musicals on mj's and I loved it. Catharine and Jennifer and the cast of Les Mis were amazing,(FC see what you missed by not going to see Les Miserables. It really is an amazing musical and Film.).

Yay to Anne and the others who won for Les Mis. I am so sad for Hugh but I knew nobody stood a chance in hell of winning Best Actor cause DDL was nominated for Lincoln. I am still so thankful Hugh was nominated for Best Actor cause that shows that his take on John Valjean was appreciated and respected. I was so impressed with Hugh in Les Mis.

Congrats to Ben and George and all others involved in Argo. I did not see it but I heard it was good.

Congrats Jennifer lawrence

Congrats to Adele for her song winning but i wish Suddenly from Les Mis would of won.

Congrats to all winners for the show.

She's not my queen of music.

Angel, the Oscar goes to a song written for the film. An original song. Since I assume that song is from the play it would not qualify.

I still have NO desire to see the film. I could not take singing every word of it. I hated that in Evita. But I do think they all had lovely voices except for Russell.

Suddenly was not in the musical. When filming for the film was going on Cameron Mcentosh,(sp?),(producer of the musical and film), and a few others felt that a new song was needed to be added for the moment that Valjean got little Cossette. For the stage the scene was not a big thing but in the film they went further into that and they wanted something to show Valjean growing affection for the little girl. This was a man who didn't know love and never really felt it and the song is about him starting to have a fatherly love for her. Cameron called the original musical writers to write the new song for the film. This has been done before. When Evita was made into a movie Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote a new song for the movie and I believe that he also did it for the film version of Phantom.

Teddy Les Mis and The Hobbit,(don't know if you wanted to see that one), come out on Blu ray/dvd at the end of March. I would be surprised if Les Mis is still at the theater but it could be in the bigger city's

*******
Canear you mentioned Nicholson when you mentioned DDL winning three awards for Best Actor in a movie. Well in this quote from a article here are the people who have won three or more awards. Nicholson was is included having won three:

********
With a monumental performance as Abraham Lincoln, Day-Lewis added to the honors he earned for "My Left Foot" and "There Will Be Blood." He's just the sixth actor to earn three or more Oscars, tied with Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson, Ingrid Bergman and Walter Brennan with three each, and just behind Katharine Hepburn, who won four.

I love Adele, no matter what she sings. You can all throw tomatoes at me, but I did not like Jennifer Hudsons performance. I know she can sing, but this performance was just too 'shouty' for me. I haven't seen any of the films, but I'd really like to see Lincoln and Argo and The Hobbit.
