| I am so happy for Melissa!! Local girl has done damn good!!
So sad for Leo...I mean seriously WTH???? I thought he stood a real shot at winning for this role.
Very sad for Shailene Woodly too. So many felt sure she would get a nom. And no Tilda after all her nominations for awards this year. Kinda odd.

| Indeed there were a lot of snobs and a lot of surprises. I feel the exact same way about Leo. As you know he's my favorite along with Johnny. Seriously, these award shows keep pissing me the heck off the way they keep snobbing him. I DO NOT GET IT. UGH!!!!!!! Oh yeah and they also snobbed Ryan Gosling............ I feel like throwing something or maybe several things. Sigh. | |

| It's so frustrating!! Leo is so awesome and he was perfect as Hoover from all that I have seen. I just do not get why he gets overlooked so much..... We will use this thread on Oscar night. We can bitch and moan about it more that night | |

| No, it was not well received and didn't do well at the box office. Guess that may have played into it. But The Iron Lady as a film has gotten some very bad reviews but that hasn't stopped Meryl from getting nominations. She will probably win again! Tin-Tin won the GG for best animated film but was not nominated for an Oscar. Neither was War Horse. Hollywood is anti-Spielberg again | |

| What do you mean anit-Spielberg? FC, War Horse IS on the list for Best Picture.
Yeah, I've heard great things about Meryl in the movie, but not about the movie itself. It really boggles the mind doesn't it?
Honestly I hope Jean Dujardin wins in the best actor category and upsets both George and Brad. Although, I suppose it would be more of an upset over George since he seems to be the top favorite going into it.
As for the best actress category I really don't know. I love Meryl, she's one of the best. BUT I think it would be really awesome if someone else won for a change. So in saying that I'm rooting for Michelle or Viola. I would be very happy for either one.

| Sorry, I meant for directing. Many of his movies have been nominated for many awards yet he himself does not get nominated for best director. It was many films into his career before he was nominated for best director. It was believed he would be nominated for War Horse - but he wasn't.
I want Michelle to win! But if not Michelle then Viola. Sometimes it's just so nice for someone new to win like with Natalie last year.

| OH! Okay, that makes a lot more sense. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I honestly never realized Steven hadn't ever been given the kind of recogintion for his directing that he deserves. | |

| Not only No Leo but where the heck is best Director nomination for Steven Speilberg fro War Horse. Totally shocking. With Steven not in there I hope Martin Scorseze,(sp?), wins for Hugo. Also for Animated movies where is a a Nomination for the amazing film "RIO"? Just do not get how so many who deserve to get nominated for stuff never do. Shannon

| You know what else is missing? Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2. I see it's nominated in a couple of the techinal categories, but no nomination for Best Picture. Seriously? SERIOUSLY? I know the series has only ever gotten the recognition for the technical aspects in the past and that's totally fine. I understand. I've never really complained before, but come on now. This was the LAST movie in the franchise. The last part of the story. It was the END and it was AMAZING. Sure it had no real chance of winning the category but it would have been really NICE to see the Academy at least pay homage to the film and give it a nomination. It really saddens me. | |

Here is that Category FC and yes Tin Tin is in there for a nomination. Best Animated Film The Adventures of TintinA Cat in Paris Chico & Rita Kung Fu Panda 2 Puss in Boots Rango *************** Kung Fu Panda 2 was amazing and I am glad it got a nomination and I am also so happy about Puss In Boots getting in there but I truly believe RIO was better than RANGO. RIO should of been nominated. Teddy You are so right I just noticed that. HP and the Deathly Hallows 2 should of been nominated for something. As I said things that should get a nomination never ever do. Shannon

| Angel, I noticed on the list FC posted above that Tin Tin was the first one listed but then I went to the offical Oscar site and it's not listed there. I'm thinking it was probably an error on the part of where FC got it from. | |

| Yeah, I know. It's a huge bummer. BTW: The technical categories HP & The Deathly Hallows Part 2 are nominated in are for Art Direction, Make-up and Visual Effects. You can check out the official list here. http://oscar.go.com/nominees | |

| I think it is always a problem in a year when there have been a lot of really good movies and great performances. When you have more then can be nominated, then politics get involved. | |

| Maybe if the film itself had been successful and well received he might have gotten a nomination. The Golden Globes has the leads and films divided into two sections so twice as many get nominated for a GG. | |
