| Oh fun! I remember my kids pre-school graduation ceremonies! Adorable!!
Voted some more. I see they are up to 20% in second place. Don't think they can beat that one act though. That's a big lead.

| Aw, I can just picture the kids with their doggy ears singing that song I had a feeling that act would be rap/hip hop They are going to get such huge exposure touring with Carrie. She has been filling big arenas. If these guys could get a really big country hit and get on some awards shows they could do really well! | |

| Test Spin: Sons of Sylvia
Topics: Test Spin May 6, 2010 By Matt Samet
American Idol may be the worst, corrupted reality show on television, but it did one thing right in showcasing the new band Sons of Sylvia on last week’s episode. Not only were they featured on TV, their debut album, Revelation, is actually very entertaining and original. Although they can be generally described as country-pop, Sons of Sylvia’s sound is an interesting fusion of R&B, blues and even gospel.
The song they performed on Idol, “Love Left To Lose,” is the most commercial song on the album no less. Featuring production from OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder — who happens to be the cousin of the band’s singer — it’s a Coldplay-esque rock song fit for arenas, but by no means indicative of the album’s other songs. The album highlight “50 Ways” uses Bon Jovi-like voice distortions, violins and a thumping beat to create an original, heavy country-rock song. “The War Within” is an unusually long track at six minutes but is also fascinating; it contains marching army sounds and voice clips of evangelists.
The Sons of Sylvia are also strong lyrically. In particular, the title track begins with an amazing intro: “I was born the day John Lennon died/ The paper said he never got to say goodbye/Crazy how you can have anything, but time.” Other songs avoid the clichés as well that crowd current music.
There is definitely a Christian undertone to some of the songs as well, but it is never so strong that it detracts from their music. The ballad “Song of Solomon” is clearly influenced from the bible, though it never feels overtly Christian rock.
Revelation is an energizing debut for the Sons of Sylvia, who will most likely find success after their stint on television. Although they rose through commercial means, don’t let their connection with American Idol fool you — they are more original than those awful cover versions of great songs that you see on TV. Crossing over and bending many genres of music, Revelation is an interesting listen.

| Sons of Sylvia becomes universal with RevelationJune 5, 2010 Clear Creek High School Click to view image BY SHANNON O'NEIL
Sons of Sylvia has a unique and original sound that sets them apart from all the other bands heard today on the radio. The three brothers started their band years ago after winning Next Great American Band in 2007. From there the brothers set out to start a new band incorporating their love of country music. The father of Austin, Ashley, and Adam Clark is a preacher and faith is number one in the brother's lives. Though I am not particularly fond of country music, I enjoy Sons of Sylvia. They put a unique twist on country music, to where it doesn't quite fit into the country genre but the brother's on genre. The first song, John Wayne, is really well crafted the beginning sounds like a subway or bus coming to a stop, giving the song a setting. Of course the song makes reference to one of the most well known western heroes, John Wayne. The song has a sweet desperation that no matter what they are going to find that girl that got away. This also shows Ashley's vocal range, and Austin and Adam's musical talents. The two musicians do not always play the typical guitar but throughout the CD they brothers switch to new unique instruments. The next song on the CD, Love Left to Lose, is so touching. It is by my favorite song because you can really feel the emotion in the song. I think everyone has felt this emotion; they just want the other person to go for it and give love a shot. The song Revelation, which is also the CD's title, gives an outlook on the band's future and hopes. They aren't sure exactly where life is going to take them but they are ready and willing to jump at opportunities. When the CD gets to the songs 50 Ways, listeners get a whole new feel to Sons of Sylvia, making the band universal to everyone. 50 Ways has a more rock feel than the other songs that have a more country vibe. 50 Ways is a song with a great beat mixed with great vocals by all of the brothers and shows an edgier side to the brothers. However, the brothers slow it down a bit with Song of Solomon, which is a soft ballad preaching love. Following Song of Solomon is a song that calls people to action with Give Me Love, expressing the devastation of the world around us. Ghost Town is an interesting song that I can't figure out. To me it seems that the brothers are trying to warn themselves of the dangers of fame and how it can lead to lose of things they once loved. However, I could be wrong. Long Beach brings tears to my eyes because of the person that they loved and held so close is gone. The music behind Ashley is sad and Ashley brings the sad lyrics to life. The song that rings very relevant in my life is I'll Know You. This song talks about how they haven't met the person they are meant to be with but they know that their soul mate is out there. The chorus talks about how as soon as they see that soul mate, they'll know them. This song hits me because of all the heartbreak I've been through, even as a teenager. The War Within is the last song on the CD that also has an intro that creates a setting for the song. The song talks about the war inside of someone's mind. So the intro almost creates a chaotic experience similar to what a person would experience in a situation where they are fighting with themselves. Sons of Sylvia produced a well-crafted album showing their range in musical ability. The brothers created almost new genre for themselves, country, rock, yet all mixed. Sons of Sylvia is on their way to success and their album should be in everyone's collection.

| SONS OF SYLVIA DEBUT Thursday, June 10, 2010 By Aizabelyn Cruz
The Sons of Sylvia, they were formally called the Clark Brothers and are famous for their win back in 2007 on Fox’s hit reality TV show, the Next American Band. Since winning the competition, Ashley, Austin, and Adam Clark began working on their debut album, Revelation. Although the band is considered to be of the country pop genre, when listening to their album I was introduced to a much wider range of music. Their music had moving pop, rock, country and even faith ballads. Each song on their CD is like another story fitting almost every mood. One song that stood out to me was “50 ways” which was a mixture of classic stringed instruments, rock-like beats and amazing vocals meshed together to create a unique track. The song writing that went into this album is something we don’t see much of in music today, they’re not one of those mainstream bands with vulgar lyrics, it’s classic sounding music that tells a story like the song “I’ll Know You”. What stands out to me in this group are the vocals, especially main vocalist Ashley Clark who has an amazing vocal range which is displayed well in this album in songs such as “Give Me Love” and “Song of Solomon”. Their voices as well as the unique music they play created by their foreign instruments, to most of us, such as the dobro and the mandolin, is something that I’ve never heard anything like before.
