I read an article about next week's chart and it stated that Kris is on track to sell 70,000 - 80,000 first week.

Prediction for Adam is now at 225,000

Adam will come out in the top 3 for new releases of this week. Looks like Subo number 1, Gaga (combo of both albums), Adam and then surprisingly Rihanna.

Susan Boyle's First-Week U.S. Album Sales Projected At 550K+

U.S. music retailers say they are realizing Susan Boyle’s dreams, as her album “I Dreamed A Dream” is blowing up way beyond sales expectations.

Label and distribution executives, meanwhile, project that based on early sales returns at the big box stores and pre-orders at direct marketers like Amazon and QVC, Boyle’s album is in contention to beat this year’s top debut-week seller, Eminem’s “Relapse.” That title scanned 608,000 units in the week ending May 24, according to Nielsen SoundScan. That week also represents the best overall sales week for an album this year.

Meanwhile, Adam Lambert’s “For Your Entertainment” is also outperforming sales expectations, despite—or perhaps because of—the risque performance he turned in at the American Music Awards on Sunday, Nov. 22. Label and distribution sources project that “For Your Entertainment” could sell about 225,000 units in its first week.

Likewise, Lady Gaga and her three-pronged sales attack on consumers’ purses is also much stronger than expected. Of the new “The
Fame Monster” deluxe edition, “The Fame” original version, and
“The Fame Monster” EP, also just issued, the former two combined could sell about 150,000 units while the EP is expected to top 200,000 units.

Of course, all estimates come with the caveat that sales projection models are built around a Tuesday release date, while this week new releases came out a day early on Monday, due to the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

How well Boyle’s album performs will in part have to do with replenishment, as accounts reported that many stores are on the verge of being out of stock and re-orders have been placed. Based on past performances of hot-selling titles, Sony Music Entertainment likely will keep pace with demand. But it's scrambling to do so, allocating
product daily and making multiple shipments this week to each account. Sony Music's ability to deliver product will be hampered by the holiday weekend, which begins Wednesday afternoon/evening.

While distribution projections for Boyle’s album start at the 550,000 mark, some executives are reluctant to guess how high it will go. If Sony can keep product rolling and if big boxes “have stock on Black Friday, who knows how well the album can do,” says one veteran prognosticator, who thinks the Boyle album will sell at least 700,000 copies this week.

Meanwhile, Adam Lambert’s shenanigans on the American Music Awards may have upset the sensibilities of viewers and gatekeepers at “Good Morning America,” which canceled his scheduled appearance on this morning's show. However, the only impact his AMA performance has had on sales seems to have been positive.

Boyle, however, is proving to be the big story of the week. According to
Hastings Entertainment senior VP of merchandising Alan Van Ongevalle, the album is outperforming the chain's expectations. The chain has never performed well in mainstream pop albums, "so it's doing extremely well for us,” he says. “Last week, John Mayer was our No. 1 record and that is in a genre we do reasonably well in, and so far in one day [Boyle] has done more than he sold all week. We are not out of stock yet on her, but we are heading that way quickly.”

Van Ongevalle adds that the chain placed a re-order before release date and that he expects to be in stock for the holiday weekend.

QVC reports that it had pre-orders of more than 81,000 units for the Boyle album, its best sales performance in ten years, while Amazon says the album has generated its largest global pre-order in its history. Amazon doesn't disclose numbers, but sources say its U.S. pre-order alone reached 80,000 units.

Meanwhile, Rihanna’s “Rated R” is said to be underperforming expectations so far in its debut week, “which is weird because she is on television everywhere talking about Chris Brown and a lot of teenagers are looking up to her,” says the head of purchasing at a wholesale account.

But others point out that Rihanna usually doesn’t have a big first week on a new release. “Good Girl Gone Bad,” her best-selling title with 2.5 million units, according to Nielsen Soundscan, tallied 162,000 units in its debut week for the period ended June 10, 2007. That’s in line with current projections for “Rated R,” as provided to Billboard by major label sales and distribution executives.

This just makes me feel worse. Kris is going to be crusified worse then he was yesterday and mostly by Adam fans who are still angry that Kris beat Adam on Idol and it is BS. Kris is a good man with a wonderful cd. I am sorry if people want to hate him but laughing at his sales and taking glee in the fact he had low sales makes my heart hurt so much. There are some people counting the day when Jive drops Kris cause record labels are Drop happy when it comes to Idols. My only hope is Kris has close to this number or above 2nd week sales that show Jive that Kris is worth keeping on the label roster. It is not Kris's fault the cd leaked early and people found HQ versions of it and just downloaded it and it isn't his fault that the economy is bad which has CD sales down 23% from last year. It is also not his fault he had asshats and a half voting for him opver Adam cause it was the anybody other than Adam vote. Kris and Adam both are being hurt cause of that and it is not right. If people totally forgo buying Kris's cd cause they want to show the world who the real winner was and that Adam is the won then that is just way to Harsh for a man who also worked his ass off on that show. He is the one that came from behind the whole season and the one who was thrown under the bus weekly just so they could get him off the show. He and Alli were just cannon fodder for that show and Kris put all that behind him and worked with Adam so they both had great performances each week. They both went and were with each other during rehearsals to help each other. Letting Kris be hurt cause people are mad is not the way to help Adam. You think Adam enjoys seeing a man he cares about so much having something like this done to him? I doubt it highly. I could see Adam the first one,(other than family for Kris), feeling his heart breaking for Kris if Jive decides to drop Kris. Adam knows the only thing Kris did on Idol was go out weekly and work his ass off like Adam himself.

I am not speaking to you guys cause unless you are a kris fan,(,(I know you like him but many that post here have said he isn't their cup of tea musically), you weren't going to buy his cd. I am just getting my feelings out on all this cause as I said my heart is breaking. Kris doesn't deserve this crap that he is getting from haters just as Adam doesn't deserve the hate he has got cause of his AMA performance. If you guys can see it in your heart please pass on the word to people that may like Kris's type music and get them to go buy one of his cd's by at least saturday so the sale will show up on his second week sales. He has to have consistant sales!!

It's upsetting I know, but for anyone not named Susan Boyle sales are lower and lower for artists all the time now. I am shocked at Leona's numbers and Pauls's and Janet's. It just a weird week really.

Well, I do know somebody who might like a Kris CD for Xmas. I wonder if she already bought herself one though?

Shannon, I haven't bought Kris's CD as yet but I fully intend to next time I go to the mall. I know it won't help in the US but consistent sales are important up here as well!

If your name isn't Susan or Adam. Remember rumor is Adam is set to sell 200,000 and that is huge in this economy.

I am not shocked with Leona's number cause I have heard her newest cd is not as good as her last one.

I am surprised with Janets, One Republics numbers though.

If you would be willing to wait till I get paid again then I could get you a copy of the cd so it will go on the US sales. It is up to you though.

Kris is at 22 thou at 54% in so he's over 100 tho already. Thats good. I brought his the second week also so you could be surprised at where he ends up.

Miley came out of nowhere to show up near the top of list! I read it was a Walmart exclusive EP (I didn't even know they counted EPs) so I guess Walmart checked in yesterday.

Oh I still wish he had gotten it, but that he had dazzled them with his brilliance as he did on Ellen today.

I do blame RCA/19 for some of this because they allowed him to perform FYE on the AMA's. They knew what he was going for yet didn't stop it. There's no going back, though.

So Miley Cyrus did stay in second after all. I had this feeling she would but I was hoping I was wrong. People always underestimate that girl and her fans. I think Miley Cyrus has one of the biggest fan bases out there that has grown and grown because of Hanna Montana,(I admit I love that show one of my favorite Disney shows).

ETA: I saw the list and see Miley didn't stay in second but still say she has a huge fanbase that buys her stuff.

See that Andrea Bocelli got the second spot and that doesn't surprise me really; he is one of the most popular classical artist around; he is getting good promotion with his concert being on PBS,(the concert coincides with his cd).

So Adam didn't sell 200K or higher like was being said? How many sold? I am sorry if he didn't. But hey Third place is still very very good; nothing to sneeze at.

Must go find list on Idol forums to see how much further my Kris Fell cause last night his cd was at 31.

Found Kris's numbers and I am at least happy he didn't fall lower than 31.

I think 195,974 albums sold is great! Yes, I wish it would have been higher, but this number is nothing to sneeze at.

I am realllly hoping that Soundscan can push this number higher.
