American Idol 2014 winner Caleb Johnson may be about to break a record, but it’s not one he’s going to want to brag about. According to the latest predictions, Caleb’s debut album Testify may end up having the lowest sales of any American Idol winner’s album in the history of the show.

Caleb Johnson’s new album from Universal Music Group dropped on August 12 and so far sales have been terrible. Apparently the strategy of pushing out the album faster than any other American Idol winner’s debut CD ever didn’t help sales at all.
Hits Daily Double predictions show that Testify may set the lowest sales record for any American Idol winner’s post-win album. So far Caleb’s debut is only on track to sell between 9k and 11k copies nationwide in its first week. Compare that to the abysmal sales for previous winner Candice Glover’s album, which only sold 19k the first week out. That album was considered to be a huge bomb, so Caleb’s debut landing even less sales is pretty sad.
Honestly, we can’t say we are terribly shocked. American Idol ratings have dropped through the floor the past few years. Less people are watching, and less people are buying. Also, Caleb’s fans may have propelled him to win with the new limited voting system, but they were an older crowd that is less likely to buy music for their iPods, phones, etc. The same was true with Candice’s followers.

See you later Caleb!  Idol gets what they deserve with him.

I can not say I am surprised by Caleb's lack of sales. He is just not current and it does appear that those who voted for him have no inclination to purchase his album. I have not even listened to it.

They apparently have something in common with Justin, FC.  They like hiking.  Apparently this picture is from a 10 mile hike they took in the desert the other day.   

10 miles in the desert???  That would be my idea of HELL!    

Good for them though!!  Justin has a hat similar to Sam's.  Those hats are too adorkable!! 

Justin has been bugging us about when we are moving to New Mexico because he wants to be able to hike and explore where there are not all the ticks and jiggers and stuff. More desert like.  He found more ticks on him since he has been home.  He had to dig one out yesterday!   

Yuck! He does know that there are snakes in the desert doesn't he?   

FC have the tick tested. Lyme disease and all of the associated diseases are almost epidemic.

Hiking in a desert is not my idea of fun.

Yes Canear. And we have snakes here.  Lots of them in our woods and forests.  He saw a big ass snake where he was last trip.

The tick was put down the drain yesterday after he picked it out.  We will keep an eye on his leg.  All looks fine for now.

Bullseyes do not always appear and only do with Lyme and not the other co-infections FC.

Flu symptons, aches and pains in joints, fever chills be aware of and gey Justin tested and make sure the doctor uses a lab that will test for Lyme and all co-infections.

Yes, we will pay close attention to any symptoms.

I have been saying it for years that MOST PEOPLE WHO VOTE for the IDOL winner will NOT buy the Winners cd. They look at idol as a game show and vote and then as soon as it is over they totally move on and do not even think twice about the person who they just help win. My thing if I vote for that person and they get a cd deal I buy that cd no matter what. If I end up not liking it then I just don't listen to it. Luckily I haven't had that problem about not liking a cd from a idol I actually voted for but I did have that problem with Latoya London's cd. I didn't vote for her but liked her and found her cd for a couple bucks on Ebay bought it and really did not care for it. Anyway as I said most people who vote will not buy the winners cd.

Don't know about Caleb and don't know what his voice sounds like but I feel terrible for him. It has got to be the worst feeling

Yes Angel, it must be hard for Caleb. Idols believe they have all this support and then find out they do not. It must hurt.

Yes it must.  They are given false hope in most cases.  Very few have succeeded right off Idol.  Kelly, Carrie and Phillip took off right after the show and have worked very hard to maintain it.  The others have had to struggle and work extremely hard to get where they are...........James spoke of it in the interview with Chris Jerico that Kate posted a few days ago.

Kellie and Chris D. did very well too.

Kris has spoken of it in interviews that he has done the last few months.  He said when it was really hard was the time after the accident and going through all the surgeries and the recovery time.  Also he said learning to play the guitar differently and trying to write songs.  I respect all the idols who have fought so hard to keep their music career alive doing whatever they can to do it.  It is not easy but they are fighting for what is important to them.

ETA: Fans should feel blessed if they get more than one cd from their favorite idol cause for many after a first cd many haven't tried or been able to put out another,(Latoya London, RJ Hilton and Tamara Gray are three that come to mind right off the bat).

Eta: Josh Gracin has spoke of the struggles for many years and I have to wonder if the stuggles for his music career is part of his depression.  If it is I more than ever want to kick the people of AI behinds.  I remember the day he was to releases his second or third cd AI had this big speal talking of new cd's and such from Idols but they never talked about Josh's and also they had Kelly Pickler on to sing a song she had already done and some weird duo came on to sing.  Josh should of been there but no AI struck again by showing if you are not a show favorite they are not going to get behind you      Josh's cd was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo freaking good and go no attention of promotion at all except from Josh and his fans.  Anyway after that Josh's label went under and then he signed to another and released a third cd and again no promotion except from Josh and fans and now he has been working on songs still and touring and was getting ready to put out an ep and then all the stuff that just happened with him.  I pray Josh will be okay.

Kate; Kellie Pickler has spoken of the struggles she has had.  She said her label wasn't supporting her at all and her third cd got absolutely NO PROMOTION which is sad cause it is outstanding.  After the cd went out the label had dropped her.  She got picked up by another label but she said it has been very hard.

Kellie has struggled but she goes out and makes things happen too. Her USO work, touring and networking helps keep her name out there. I have all her albums and none from Caries Underwood. I love Kellie's more real country sound plus her personality.

Oh I know a lot of that I was just putting it out there that Kellie has not had the easiest time in this business cause of a stupid record label. Most of the idols who have been on a major label have ended up being screwed by their labels cause they do nothing to support or promote the cd or artist. The label screws up the Artist end up paying cause most of them have got dropped sooooooooooooo not fair. The ones that have got resigned to another label who actually cares about them are the lucky ones.

Eta: You should give Carries cd's a chance. She is really good. Kellie is indeed more country but Carrie is still really good.

I bought Caleb's CD. Really like it. On song 5 and like everyone so far.

It's nice to have a discount again at a store the sell's CD's!!!! I looked but didn't find Kris's new CD.

Really Kate, My friend Robin was a big Caleb fan and she said the cd sucks.

Really? I haven't fast forwarded any song. Some very tasty guitar playing too. Testify Sailing Away, Let Me In,  Save Me, Fighting Gravity, Another Life are so far are really good. The last few a little too mellow but still very good.

She did not like the production, the musicians etc

She thinks Caleb was screwed with this cd.

I will have to look for snippets at Amazon.

I like the production but I like guitars and horns. I can see some of these songs on my rock station as they play a old and new mix. Putting it on my MP3 right now.
