One of the reasons I love Matthew. Been following his work with the Just Keep Living Foundation. Just Keep Living is one of his lines from Dazed and Confused and he has taken as his personal Motto.

Great post Angel, and I feel exactly the same. I will probably not see Wolf of Wall Street and while
I love Matthews Romantic Comedies ( Sweet Home Alabama, 10 days to loose a Lover etc) I do not like his darker movies either. I become deeply troubled by these dark, violent or sadistic movies. So while I do not enjoy them, I do not fault an actor for playing a role. Or for a movie depicting true events regardless of how disturbing they are.  shrugging  I can't watch horror movies or slasher movies, Holocaust movies etc. I hide my eyes during violent scenes. I love Greek Mythology and Brad Pitt but I did not enjoy many scenes in Achilles. To much graphic violence for me.

Terry loves Braveheart. I enjoyed parts but hid my head in his shoulder for most of it. Too bloody.

Also Porn should be outlawed. It is just gross and lewd and lascivious and harmful to society. IMO

Okay this is so off topic but it is bugging me I have Sweet Home Alabama and I may have to watch again just so I can see where Matthew is.  I do not remember him in it at all.  Patrick Dempsey is the rich dude that wants to marry Reese's character and Josh Lucas plays he Alabama hubby so where does Matthew fit in there?  I looked up the cast and his name is not showing in there.  Hathor you are not the only one putting Matthew in the movie.  When I looked up Matthew's movies Sweet Home Alabama was in there but I swear it has to be a mistake unless he was in it and his name is not credited.

For me I have my favorite actors, actresses, singers and so on and for the most part I get all they do but when it comes to actors and actresses if they are in a movie that is pretty much horror, too much graphic violence over use of sex or nudity I ususally will not see it or buy it.  Doesn't mean I don't adore that person it is just they are in something I just can't watch.

Yes hathor Porn should be illegal and outlawed it is a disgusting trashy deadly,(because of the real sex, the drug use the aids and so on), business that has nothing to do with entertainment. It is as I said a sex ring and they are using innocent teens and young adults that really do not know any better when they get into it. They are brainwashed pretty much to get into by people doing stuff like photo shoots and all that stuff that is good to suck them in but when it is time to do the deed and they see what they have to really do it is far too late and they usually can't get out.

PostSubject: Re: SAG AWARDS   SAG AWARDS - Page 2 EmptySun Jan 19, 2014 12:38 pm

I love Fargo!!!!!!!  I have seen it several times!! My fave Coen Brothers movie!!  Love Steve Buscemi!!

Wolf has been banned and/or censored in many countries.  Even censored in some theaters here because of the "graphic sex scenes".  There are several reviews where it is stated that 15 or so years ago this film would have gotten an X rating. Doesn't that make it pretty darn close to porn??

I have read reviews from critics who like the film but still state that it is way too graphic and for way too long - 3 hours of it.  One critic says you get the point early on and you just don't need 3 hours of it.

I hate the slasher films too.  But let's face it, that's a genre and doesn't even pretend to be Oscar contending work.  There are not A list actors in them.

I expect better from one of our premier A list actors.  I don't expect Leo to be in a film and in scenes that awhile ago would have garnered an X rating.

Angel, you said porn is people having sex for real.  Well, Leo and those actresses are really naked and really touching and sucking each other etc.  That's real to me.  Doesn't need to be intercourse to be sex. I think Bill Clinton learned that lesson Laughing

I did not think so and was going crazy cause I know Matthew's face very well and would not miss it in a movie. I think the people that put his history of movies together needs to do some fact checking.

The long and short of it is people need to do their homework and not just go see a movie cause their favorite actor is in it cause many times you will be disappointed or upset cause you will say this is not what I was expecting. Actors and Actresses are trying different things so not to be typed cast and they are trying to push themselves to be different. You do your homework right off the bat and not listen to the critics cause many times it is the critics that get you to go see the film cause they put in there that said actor actress did really well in it and of course you want them to do well. For me I see what type of film it is, what the rating is and I ask people I know who have seen the film that know what I like to let me know if I would like it. As I have posted there are many many many movies I have not seen that have my faves in it for the reasons I have posted in other post.

Wolf of Wall street came close to getting a NC 17 rating but there were some of the F bombs taken out, some of the sex scenes and some of the nudity scenes taken out and it was given the R rating. This is just like Eyes Wide Shut that came very close getting the NC 17 rating but got the R rating because during the Orgy scenes they added clothed people walking around the group that covered a lot of the orgies and they cut out some language. I know this cause my brothers major was film in college so he is all on the know of all this stuff and knows where to go to look up stuff of the movies.

HA! 506 f-bombs ARE in it so if they took some out just how the hell many were there?? See, that alone is just ridiculous. And if there is still so much sex that so many countries banned it and some were taken out???? Then again, just ridiculous. Leo and Martin are better than that.

I always make sure a movie is something I would want to see before paying for it. Movies are too expensive now days for that.

Hathor Mud isn't very violent. A really wonderful moving that is sort of a modern day Huck Fynn feel to it. I think it w as my favorite movie from last year. The two young actors in it were wondful and Reese Witherspoon was also very good. A fantastic cast in supporting roles too.

I love Matthews lighter weight movies but adore him when he gets a really meaty dramatic role.

FC me and hubby are huge Steve Bescemi fans ever since he played Mr. Pink in Reservoir Dogs. One my favorite of is the movie Ghost Writer. A very different role for him as a lonely single man.

i have only seen Thora Birch in like five movies ever. She was in Kindergarten Cop as a very young girl, Hocus Pocus, a movie that she is supposed to be with her brother and they find a polar bear cub, Now and Then and American Beauty. Never even of the movie you guys speak of. What is Ghost World?

You have to see the movie to understand it's appeal.  It has quite the cult following:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0162346/

I remember Thora in a made for TV movie about a homeless girl who put herself through some big time school.

Quote :
FRONTRUNNER: Matthew McConaughey
Matthew McConaughey followed the industry’s win-an-Oscar checklist for Dallas Buyers Club. He lost a ton of weight. (Check.) He played someone suffering a fatal illness. (Check.) And he delivered one hell of a memorable performance. (Check mate.) As fiery Texan Ron Woodroof, McConaughey gave a spine to the usual Hollywood "message" movie, shedding pounds but picking up attitude as he railed against a flawed government system that keeps powerful drugs out of the hands of the people who need them.

But that’s not why McConaughey is our choice for frontrunner in the Best Actor category. It’s simply his time. The actor switched gears on his career a while back, abandoning the safe path (which led to more Kate Hudson movies) to challenge the status quo. His recent hot streak includes Magic Mike, Mud, Bernie, The Wolf of Wall Street, Killer Joe and The Lincoln Lawyer. Recent wins at the Golden Globes, SAG Awards and the Critics’ Choice suggest McConaughey is riding a tidal wave of support that we think will bring him the Oscar on March 2.

I totally forgot that Thora was in Clear and Present Danger and Patriot Games playing Harrison Fords daughter.  I checked up her films and she has been in a lot of movies.  Some movies I have heard of and just never saw so forgetting she was in them and then many I have never heard of like Ghost World.  FC that show you are speaking of is billed as Homeless to Harvard and it was a Lifetime movie,(found this out cause it is showing on her film credentials I just looked up.

Eta: Also just found out that the young girl myself and others thought was Thora in Kindergarten Cop was not her. It was someone who looked a lot like her.
