Oh I don't think so. I think they learned from the cover singles Lee and Crystal had after Idol that covers will not sell well.

I pray for his sake they do not give him covers. Though to be honest if he sang them like he does Rocket Man and his version of Beautiful Day I would buy it!!

I would buy it too. He has some original songs out there so I guess I'm just surprised that they are having him sing so many covers.

I do not think he is allowed to sing those songs on national TV. Seems Idol doesn't let them. Who knows why.

They've never allowed them to do their own original songs when making TV appearances. Not immediately after Idol at least. Who knows maybe some of his pre Idol stuff might make the new album. I know Crystal said she hoped some of her songs pre Idol would make her album.

He is singing so many covers because they are not aloud to sing their songs. Taylor has two cd's that were put out before AI and he could not start singing songs that were on them until he was done with the AI tour and had his first cd already put out. When he was doing his own tour he could sing all his songs; which he did sing many of them. Kris had made a independent cd before he was on idol and I don't believe he was able to sing any song off it during the tour or after till his cd was done. If he wanted to sing anything from it now he would be able to.

I know Lee sang a couple of his originals during his hometown visit on AI. But none of it made to the video package they showed. Crystal got to sing Holy Toledo during her hometown visit and I know they did show that during her video package. So I guess they are allowing them some leeway now compared to a few years ago. But I think that instance was very different compared to them being able to actually sing it on a live televised program or during the tour. But who knows maybe they will let them this time? The tour starts in a couple days so we'll see.

So bizarre. Why not let your Idol show off all his artistic skills? Or maybe they think their original stuff is crap
