I don't suppose I necessarily equate defending his right to artistic freedom as an artist or pointing out a double standard to taking a political stance per se. I don't follow every interview in a lot of detail but my impression was that he didn't want to take a formal political stance. But in the U.S. as a gay person every time you by necessity stand up for yourself I suppose it is somewhat political in nature because we're a long way from full equality. And I do still think he had a good point about his performance in contrast to female performers. If some of the upset (and honestly I think overall it's pretty minor, nothing like Janet J. and her wardrobe malfunction) is in fact because it was male/male sexual content, and I think some of it was, he's perfectly within his rights to speak up about that whether that constitutes a formal political stance or not, IMO. I think it's an important question.

Just WORD Zara! I should just follow you around and type WORD after your posts.
Like I said - it doesn't matter if they were taken aback. You still show support to a BEST FRIEND - at least I do.
Canear - sorry you are tired of what I said. I'll be sure not to say it again.
Looking forward to hearing his interviews!

I see Kris did finally Tweet about Adam's CD. Thanks!
I just want to share this. One of my daycare moms - late 30s - just picked up her son. She was a big Kris fan and we teased each other about voting. Anyway, when she picked up her son this was what she said to me:
"Did you hear about your guy?" WOW! Did he really do all that? (laughing) I have got to see this!! I am going home and looking for it on You Tube! I can't wait to see it! Was it good?"
See this is the thing - many will protest it was so bad, but they will seek it out and watch it.
Not saying she is going to think it is bad - but the point is I have read posts at certain boards who are complaining about it while admitting they watched it repeated times just so they could, you know, have all the facts

I stated in one of my post that is takes Kris as well as Adam as well as Alli to say the stuff about singels and cd's none of them have done it right away so I was not going to get mad at any of them for taking there time.
Also when it come to Adam's performance I think Kris staying quiet may have been smart for the reason if he didn't like it he was safer to not say anything cause he would of got torn apart worse than Jason and Kellie Pickler have for what they said. People are looking for Kris to slip up so they can knock him down. As long as Kris talked to Adam and said he was there for him,(which I believe he did; they were at the same event and there is no way neither would of left without saying something and I also believe Katy probably said something to Adam to. Just because Kris didn't tweet anything about that does not make him a bad person.
As I posted this I just had this feeling; Kris is being attacked by Adam fans and being called not a true friend of his. Kris has always taken his time doing this and Adam, Alli always take forever getting their tweets out about buying the others cd's but they don't get attacked. Kris is. I told you people lay in wait to see if they can find something to jump on him for and say he is a jerk and a bad person and someone who was never a friend of Adam. I am sorry it is bullcrud :( He does not deserve that crud :(
**** I don't know if you know this but today they have been talking about Canceling Adam on GMA on Wednesday. My parents heard a interview with Adam and he said he will respect what ever decision they make so I assume he has been talked to about this and there is the chance he may not be on.
I pray they don't cancel him but if they do maybe he will take it as a learning expercience and see that he can't go ALL over the top sexual when it comes to TV. On his own tour he can do whatever he wants, but when it comes to something the FCC rules you don't screw with that.
ETA: from reading Idol Forums it does seem to be that GMA canceled ADAM!! I am looking for something that is says it for sure. Poor Adam :) :)

Angel, it's a done deal. Adam's GMA performance has indeed been cancelled.
BTW, I took the opportunity to unfriend a pain in the ass on FB today. I didn't like her much to begin with, but when she started posting smack about Adam, well BLEEP. She's gone.

For those of you who want to know what Kris thoughts were re Adam and the AMA's I'll be posting a recap in Kris thread about it. He did talk about it today at the Bonnie Hunt show taping. Unless you all think I should post specifically about what he had to say on just that subject here.

Thank you for giving me confirmation. My parents were asking me if I found anything yet and I said I found what people were talking about but that was it so with what you said I just told them about the cancelation. My heart breaks for him but at the same time this is a learning experience. I think them doing this is showing him their is consequences to actions. He took a huge gamble on things and now he will learn from it.
Adam is a smart man and he will know that when it comes to tv he has to be careful. I am with many people they need to put the AMA's on Cable cause then their is different rules.

Angel GMA is out the window but the CBS Early Show scooped Adam right up and he'll be on there tomorrow in place of what would have been GMA.

They did cancel him. CBS Early Show picked him up. I've been reading facebook comments all night and his interviews. I love the guys voice but IMHO I think he should come down off the "I'm an artist" crap. He's not yet. He compared himself to Prince and the assless chaps incident. Can he even say that with a straight face? Prince??? Seriously no one knew this kid last year. Knowing what he is capable of doing with his past videos does not cancel the fact that he is not in that situation anymore. I don't want his bad self to change but you would expect some kind of controls of content to be in place for the audiance he is playing now and you can do that with out compromising your integrity. I don't buy his defense about lack of equality. homophobia, Take it or leave it yada yada. It's BS. Anyone who has grown up in the 60's and 70's with rock and roll is not easily shocked and seriously has seen better than him push the envelope and boundaries. It's not new at all, infact everything has been been there done it. It just takes a new look every now and then. Glam, camp, isn't new BUT besides Jim Morrison exposing himself and Flea wearing nothing but a sock on his junk, I've never heard of a simulated BJ on national TV. Did he forget where he was and let the "moment" take over. Maybe, I'll give him that but really he hasn't made it yet. If he is starting to believe his own hype it's time to come down a little and face the fact that he isn't all that and a pickle too...unless that music fan allows him to be and right now a lot are telling him it's not acceptable.

Good for you! I'd have done the same.
In fact I was just at a board, totally unmusical, and I couldn't believe the posts...........most of them don't even know anything about Adam, who he is, what he sang.......they are basing their remarks and ideas on what they have read (because they can't find a video of the performance and I'm not giving them one) and the fact that he's gay. They didn't come out and say 'gay', but you definitely knew what they were talking about. I left them a few things to ponder........... Nothing bad........... I did leave them a link to listen to "Soaked"! Along with a few thoughts..............

Yes - way to go Sky and NN!
Angel - nobody said Kris was a bad guy. Just I think a public show of support of some kind for a close friend is a really nice thing to do.
Look, I am not sure if there is something out there I haven't seen - but what I have seen is when Adam was asked about it he just rattles off things that have been done by Madonna, Britney and he mentioned Prince came out in assless chaps. How is listing things that have happened before the same thing as "comparing yourself to them"??? I am not getting that at all. Now people are looking to rip on everything he says! He did not say "I am like Prince"! Or "I did this because Prince did"! Now I am just getting really annoyed.. This has gotten so blown out of proportion it isn't funny! My God people it was a musical performance late at night at the end of an already racy music award show! He didn't shoot the president! Do people in this country seriously not have more things to worry about than a racy musical number??? I wish people would spend that much time and energy trying to figure out how to make college costs cheaper!
Teddy - this would be a good place to put what Kris said about Adam.

FC you guys here aren't saying he is a bad guy but he is getting ripped on. People say he never was a friend of Adams. Kris has put on his twitter to go buy Adams cd and people still won't stop. Kris and Adam are friends and just because Kris or Adam don't do something right away does not make them bad or un-supportive it makes them human. Both sides piss me off when they start on either guy. The two guys know how it is with each other and that is the most important thing. As long as they say they support each other I am happy!! I admit I love seeing them tweet their support but it either stopped doing that and just told each other I would be fine with it.
ETA: last thing: again I have to say this. the hoopla is not over the kiss or the racyness the hoopla is over the simulated bj and the shoving courtneys face into his crotch. Also I get the flipping off the audience it getting talked about cause that really was out of line. Those are his musical peers out there that he is giving the bird. Adam should of freaking known the Simulated Bj and the putting the girls face to his crotch was going to have consequences. Also please quit with the homaphic crap,(not talking about people here by the way. I just watched a Joy Bayhard clip and her panel was saying the complaints and GMA dropping him was all Homaphobic centered; I am not homaphobic. I don't care who is up on that stagel; if they are doing the BJ and putting face to crotch area then I am going to not like it.). He put a girls face to his crotch also so this has nothing to do with homaphobia.

Okay.
Well when asked and prompted by Bonnie, Kris said he didn't find anything Adam did on the AMA's during his performance shocking. He said those close to Adam and KNOW HIM understand that's just the kind of person/performer he is. He didn't see anything wrong with it although to be fair he did get a little flustered and tongue-tied about it. I got the impression he didn't know quite what to say. Then again that's usually how Kris usually is. He did say Adam's performance wasn't for him as in that's not anything he would ever do but then he and Bonnie started joking around wondering what people would do if he did something like that. Then he said maybe he ought to do a reprise next year! He was being cheeky and fun and nice. He was being supportive and a friend. He was being Kris. The majority of the audience actually didn't even understand or get that whole part in the conversation. There was very little response or reaction. At first I had mistaken it for uncomfortableness, but it was really just confusion. During the commercial break I heard many asking, "What happened on the AMA's?" No one really had a clue.

Good for Kris. He stated things in a way that is supportive and shouldn't get him blasted; At least I pray to God he doesn't get blasted. he is getting blasted enough for his cd sales and for people saying he don't care about Adam :(

WTG Kris! Even if he was uncomfortable with it he wouldn't call Adam out on it in public. He would tell Adam himself directly. Unfortunately not everyone has the opportunity to knowing Adam or talking to him personally.
Some of us take longer than others to process things. Some of us might never get past it. It's just the way it is.

I don't know. Adam is the talk and he has been since AI ended. Everything he says or does is for sure going to be seen and questioned. I think people are seriously trying to figure out why he chose to throw caution out the window and went all out with what he did. People just don't understand and Adam really isn't helping with how he is answering some things. For me I know he said he did it in the moment and I can believe that but there are others that need more of answer of what the heck he was thinking.
I do think this will die down next week when his numbers come out. I think all will be happy when it dies down cause as Teddy just mentioned Kris got asked about the Adam performance so as soon as it does die down Adam and Kris won't be asked about it at all at their interviews.
The long and short of it Adam just needs to think about everything when he is doing a show on tv. Just keep in the back of his mind its okay to be racy but NOT SO RACY!!
