http://mjsbigblog.com/sally-in-the-valleys-glendale-az-american-idol-tour-recap.htm That is a great review and this is my favorite part of the whole thing: *********I wouldn’t have been able to stand any other idol winning over Adam except Kris. He healed my broken heart, soothed my agitated mental state and brought me back to life after Idol ended by being who he is. A true artist. *********
Such a wonderful thing to say about Kris I also like how she said even though they were sitting down for Kris they were SITTING IN AWE of him!! Shannon :angel3:

| American Idol top 10 slotted into clear personas for the 2009 tour<BLOCKQUOTE>By Stephanie Hayes, Times Staff Writer In Print: Wednesday, July 29, 2009 TAMPA They're regular folks — the guy who changes your oil, the mall girl with muffin top, your server at Applebee's. They're regular, that is, until American Idol plucks them from obscurity so that we may dissect their every move, judge them harshly, hate them and celebrate them. Fun! American Idol's Top 10 contestants let us do it in person, performing Tuesday at the St. Pete Times Forum. The show was slick, corporately smarmy and pretty entertaining. The 10 were cast as narrow sketches. The retro chanteuse. The smooth soul singer. The plucky rock chick. The fans approved with chalkboard screams. Escapist, yes, but also jarringly real. The most freakish testament to the show's titanic cultural muscle happened when contestant Lil Rounds (mom of three, former customer service rep) casually quipped, "When I told my production team I wanted to do this song…" Fame, so far from our daily grind, really isn't that far at all. That's kind of cool. But enough sincerity. Let's dissect their every move and judge them harshly! Most troubling hair: Megan Joy sounded lovely. But she ruined everything with the frizzy blond tuft of Brillo on her melon. Think Phyllis Diller meets Willie Aames ( Eight is Enough years). Future comedy career: Blind singer Scott MacIntyre beat everyone to the punch line. "People wave to me from across the room, I don't see them. People try to give me a fist bump, I don't know what the heck's going on!" Try the veal? Bad copy: Lil Rounds took on Alicia Keys and Mary J. Blige with controlled, strong pipes. Way to go! Then, she covered Single Ladies. She sounded winded, in need of serious Gatorade. Beyonce would have nailed it. Best snooze button: Anoop Desai crooned soft R&B to a video of puffy clouds and gentle spring rain dropzzz. Then, he RUDELY JOLTED US AWAKE with My Prerogative, Bobby Brown's lusty hip-thruster. We're up! Where's our toothbrush? King of keys: Scott's piano was pretty during Vanessa Carlton's A Thousand Miles, but Matt Giraud showed him up with bluesy chops on Hard to Handle and Georgia on My Mind.Parental gasp of horror: Allison Iraheta, 17, sang Pink's So What: "Guess I just lost my husband, I don't know where he went. So I'm gonna drink my money, I'm not gonna pay his rent." Pay attention, kiddos. Most tender moment: Danny Gokey on Rascal Flatts' What Hurts the Most. His wife died right before his turn on Idol, and the crowd remembered, singing every word. "Never knowing what could have been…" Clairvoyant guess: Adam Lambert loathes stools, dry ice and Mad World.Reality check: When runnerup Lambert so much as snarled, the crowd had a hernia. They loved dreamy acoustic winner Kris Allen, too, but comparatively? Uh … oh look, a text message! Nightcap: The group closed with Journey's Don't Stop Believing, a song with lyrics starring who else? Small town girls and boys. http://www.tampabay.com/features/music/article1022822.ece</BLOCKQUOTE> | |

| This is from Sunrise Florida's concert: ***** Here's that Palm Beach Post tweeter's review: http://www.pbpulse.com/uncategorized/2009/...lid-idols-live/ Adam, Kris lead a surprisingly solid “Idols Live” By Leslie Gray Streeter | Uncategorized | July 30, 2009
The show: “American Idols Live”
The venue: BankAtlantic Center, Sunrise, Wednesday night
The deal: The Top Ten Season 8 contestants: Michael Sarver, Megan Joy Corkrey, Scott MacIntyre, Lil Rounds, Anoop Desai, Matt Giraud, Allison Iraheta, Danny Gokey, Adam Lambert and Kris Allen
Our take: Having read the reviews of previous tour stops of the Season 8 edition of “American Idols Live,” one could be forgiven for believing that every other singer besides second-place finisher but arguably first-place sensation Adam Lambert was a snooze. Boring. Nine also-rans in the shadow of a true performing genius. Adam and the Pussycats. Adam Jackson and the Jackson Nine.
Those reviews had a point:
Broadway vet, certified rock screamer and sensitive songsmith Lambert created a electrified, leather-bound, sexually-charged chemistry that none of the other Idols could match. The thing is, that doesn’t make the others, particularly impressive, smokey-voiced rock pixie Iraheta, acoustic, chill Allen and surprisingly satisfying former piano bar employee Matt Giraud, bad. They’re just different performers. Don’t get me wrong - if you’re most riveted by a big, big rock voice with flashy costume and sizzling slinkiness to match, Adam is your guy - he navigated easily between the flames of “Whole Lotta Love,” the moody poignance of “Mad World” and a punchy David Bowie medley, including a “Life On Mars” that gave me chills.
But what if you’re tastes run, say, more to the quietly brilliant acoustic (as mine admittedly do?) Then Kris Allen’s set, if curiously low-speed considering that the energy of Adam, might be more your cup of tea. Starting with hiswinningly creative “Heartless,” he impressed not only with a better-than-the-original “Bright Lights” but a chant-worthy, arm-waving take on The Killers’ “All These Things That I’ve Done” that amped the energy of the crowd to as close as Kris Allen comes to a frenzy. This is a not a frenzied man. He’s chill. He’s relaxed. He’s not in a hurry, because he’s having too good a time, and he’s hoping you do, too.
Besides the finalists, the two standouts were 17-year-old Iraheta, whose command of her voice, a by-now overdone cover (Heart’s “Barracuda”) and an audience continues to make me want to verify her birth certificate, and Giraud, who unfortunately became dismissed during the season as a Justin Timberlake wanna-be. Fie. Not true. He’d already proved he’s a competent piano man, so his “Georgia” was no surprise. But when he delivered a flawless “Hard To Handle” with effortless flights of phrasing and a crazy, Billy Joel-at-a-rave keys pounding session, it was a revelation. Somebody put this kid on a supporting tour as a solo act, now.
As for the rest: Sarver reminded everyone of the talent that got him on the show but quickly became bland early in the season, while Corkrey displayed both her chops and her tendency to go pancake flat and thorn-sharp within the same phrase; Scott and Lil were so much more exciting than during the season, he making overplayed “A Thousand Miles” not only note-perfect but interesting and she sending the crowd to their feet with Alicia Keys’ “No One” that they made me want to shake them for being so bland on TV and Anoop was his same slow-jamming, over-confident, Brian McKnight-channeling self.
It turned out to be a much better show than last year, where David Cook clearly outclassed pretty much everyone. Again, no one matched Adam’s showmanship. But if that’s not your thing, you had a lot more to choose from.****** I thought this one of the best reviews I have seen since the tour started! For me the best of night were Adam and Kris, Alli and then Matt!Shannon :angel3:

| That's an awesome review!!! I'd say it is definitely one of the best ones. So glad they acknowledged Alli but more so in particular Matt. I really feel like he's come alive during this tour. It's wonderful seeing him get the recognition he deserves. Love that Kris got a shinning review too! | |

Me too! Some label needs to snap up Matt and now!! I am so looking forward to seeing him perform. Danny just is not a stage performer. He has a decent voice but no personality. Matt has the personality to go with the voice.

| It just annoys the heck out of me when reviewers' pieces are full of spelling and grammatical errors! I'm speaking here of the first one on Sunrise. | |

| Wasn't sure where to put this so dropping it here!! July 31st, 2009 09:03am Cook, Lambert & Allen on the same stageby pinellaIt ought to be interesting. Next Friday ABC’s Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series in Central Park will feature David Cook, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert. That is one concert that would definitely be worth seeing. You know that it will never happen. They will never tour together. Or will they? Tune in, or set that recorder for 8:30 a.m. Aug. 7. It’ll probably be a half-hour worth repeating … several times. Cause you may never see this trio on the same stage together again. :confetti: :confetti: :confetti: :confetti: :confetti: | |
