PostSubject: Board Design   Sat Aug 09, 2008 10:03 pm

I am playing around with a more interesting look for the board. I kind of like this one. If anyone doesn't care for it please let me know. I want people to love coming here!

I just don't know if it will bug my eyes after awhile. It is pretty cool though! I know that several of you ladies are into The Tudors and all things Royal. So I thought this would be a possibility. queen

Oh good! I am so glad that you like it! It is really beautiful isn't it? I think I just have a headache from trying to figure out how to do all this board set-up stuff! I am getting pretty good at it I think!

Oops, time to get out of Admin mode and get back to Firecracker as I think I am done playing around with the set-up for today. geek

I don't like it. It's way too dark and I have to strain to see it. I do like the artwork stuff but the background and lettering need to be somewhat lighter. Also, I don't like that the posts are all backwards - so that you instead of getting the first post since your last visit, you get the newest post period.

Is there a way to at least change the second part?

PostSubject: Re: Board Design   Sat Aug 09, 2008 11:11 pm

I was worried about the order of the posts this morning. Someone else said they like getting the newest post first. I have yet to figure out how to change that. Maybe my son can help there. I haven't found a button option that lets me change that. I am not sure what you mean by you see "the newest post period". I see the newest on top and then read down. Which is great if you are on the board often and only wish to see the newest post. You don't have to scroll all the way down the page to see the newest post. But yes, if you have been off for awhile it is like reading backwards. Are you only seeing the newest post in a thread?

I myself don't care for the black (reminds me of the Betty Boards Razz ) but I love the border. Again, I don't see anyway to change that. It's like they offer you a board background and you get the whole set-up. I will look around and see what else is out there.

We are about to eat dinner, so I will have to do some checking a little later.

I still like it. It is not too dark as far as I concerned, I never went to the Betty Boards. I like the post order too. I like getting the newest first.

OK - here is a compromise. I'll keep the post order (especially since I can't find a way to change it Razz ) but I will rotate backgrounds. It is super easy to change them.

I will agree with Badger that the black background was bugging my eyes. I think this one is really pretty and there is one other that is super pretty too. I'll keep this one for a day and I will put up the other one I found that I like a lot tomorrow. Than the one Aerwin likes again. It will be fun logging in and seeing different backgrounds!

This one is good for Horselaydee because she loves pixie/elf creatures!

Hey, you ladies are lucky I didn't pick one of the multiple Miley Cirus/Hannah Montana ones Razz

There is one for the TV show Lost - I'll do that one for Aerwin when the season premiere of the show is on. There is a really pretty romantic one for Valentines day too!

Can you tell I am loving this?! Laughing

Trust me, my son was such a huge help with setting up the categories and threads and some other stuff that I just COULD NOT figure out. He did in 15 mins. what I couldn't do in 5 hours Embarassed I just decided to take a shot at changing the backgrounds and that was actually so much easier than all the other aspects of setting it up. I am so glad you like this one too Aerwin!

Is there a way to get the fonts a little bigger, without manually doing it for each post?

I will check on that! That is why I am signed in as Admin right now instead of Firecracker. I have to keep going to the Admin panel to see if I can figure things out.

I have not been able to find a way to make the font bigger without doing it with each post.

Also, I noticed that when a topic reaches multiple pages you have to click on page one to see the new posts. Not sure I like that. I guess that is part of having the new posts show up on top of something. I STILL cannot find a place to change that.

OK! I did it! Does this size work for everybody? If it is too big let me know and I can take it down a notch.

I think that I have figured out the way to make the posts go oldest first and read down from the top rather than up from the bottom. Make sense? So like the way it was at WW.

I think when we hit multiple pages on a topic it would be better to do the opposite of the way it is now. With this larger font we will probably change pages faster.

The size is fine for me. Thanks for changing the background and the print. It's much easier to read now.

FWIW, when I posted that I was getting the newest post period, what I meant was that instead of getting the first post since the last time I was on the board, I was getting the newest post. I know a lot of people prefer that, but I think it's hard to keep up with conversations that way.

Yes, I agree with you Badger. Maybe it is just because I am used to it that way, but I noticed in the thread with 2 pages that after I submit my post I was on the wrong page and had to go to the first page to see the new post. That will drive me batty I am afraid.

I have to change the order for each forum and thread one at a time and it is almost 1:00 in the morning here, so I will have to do that later. But I will get around to it as soon as I can.

For those of you who like the new posts on top I am sorry, but I really think when all our threads become multiple pages it will be a pain.
