I think there is only a couple of us watching, but thank you.

Cool! Charter doesn't show "Downton Abbey" OnDemand though.

It's interesting that in the first two seasons, there were scenes in the UK version that were not in the PBS version. FTR, the Bluray/DVD copies are always from the British version. But this season, it's PBS that gets scenes that weren't shown in the UK.

All the seasons are on OnDemand and yesterday, I watched a couple from this season, even though I've been watching.........but today when I went back to watch more..........they aren't free to watch! No

You are welcome. You guys seem really into it so I thought have all your info in one easy spot for you. It seems to be popular but I can't seem to muster any interest. Maybe some day I will check it out.

I'm sure you'd love it after you watched a few episodes. Save Badger's links and start with Season 1

Yes, thanks, FC, for giving us this thread.

Sky, just curious, who are your favorite characters on the show? I like Thomas, Tom, and Daisy and of course, Violet.

Thomas is just a cruel character, so not my favorite.

I do love Violet, Daisy, Matthew and John Bates but they are all so good it's really hard to pick.

Thomas is the character you love to hate.

I also like Mrs. Patmore.

I won't say anything more but Sunday's episode is really good. It'll be 2 hours because they combine Episode 7 and the season finale into one episode.

The week after is the Christmas special.

Great episode last night. I loved the line about getting along with 18 yr olds......"Keep smiling and never look like you disapprove".

Ms O'Brien can also be cruel. I kind of felt sorry for Thomas. I have a housefull and missed what was whispered to Ms O'Brien....was it something about the soap?

If it helps I read an interview and the actor wanted out of the show. Refused to come back for even 3 more episodes. The writers felt they had to kill him off as there would be no other way to explain him not being around for his wife, baby and home he inherited. Same with the actress who died in child birth. She would not sign a contract to stay for any more episodes.

That was the last show of the season. I just hated how it ended, I adored his character.

I don't watch the show - but I saw the interview with the head writer (who also might be leaving the show to write/produce a show for NBC) and he said the actor was offered other roles he wanted to take. It's like when they killed Lexi off on Grey's. I was so upset until I read that the actress wanted off the show. What can you do....

You can't do anything, but it was just so incredibly sad after all they had gone through already. If you ever get the chance to watch this whole series 1, 2 and 3, watch it.

There are only about 8 episodes per season.

See why I told you all not to go to Downton Abbey websites until you had a chance to catch up?

The other thing is that Julian Fellowes says he doesn't believe in recasting where they hire one actor to replace another. He says it's fine for iconic characters like Sherlock Holmes but not for regular TV. That was another reason why they had to eliminate Matthew and Sybil.

That doesn't mean every actor who decides to leave the show will have his or her character killed off though.

You're welcome. It should start back in the UK around September and in January for the US.

And of course, there will be links available to watch the show before January too.

Oh, they cast the actor who will be playing Sir Anthony Gillingham. He's supposed to be Mary's suitor although some sites refer to him as a "love interest." Anyway, the actor is named Tom Ellis and he is very handsome. I've never heard of him but I understand he's quite popular with women.

No, everyone else is signed for at least next season.

Also, as per a previous post, it looks like Tom Ellis won't be joining the cast after all.
