I saw a documentary on HBO about China and it's one child only policy a few years ago. More couples than you think manage to have more than one child. However, those "extra" children are not recognized by the Chinese government. They are not entitled to any kind of benefits. It's as if they do not exist. And the parents have to be legally married; you cannot marry legally there until the man is 22 and the woman is 20. They showed one unmarried couple who had a baby and who were trying to arrange for it to be adopted, hopefully by "someone in the West." There's also a big problem with babies and children being kidnapped and sold to couples who don't have kids. By that I mean, people in China who don't have kids.

One of my cousins is/was a dwarf and his wife. They adopted a Korean boy who is also a dwarf. This little boy was abandoned and cast away because he was a dwarf. What a smart bright young man he is today.

Badger, in the Idiot Abroad series when Karl visited the Dwarf community (whatever it was called), I had real mixed emotions over that one. I was happy they all seemed happy and doing well, but thought it was wrong that they had to live off by themselves.

Did you watch the live coverage yesterday? We did and it was amazing. I don't think he's crazy, he's just the kind that wants to break records and make history doing what he loves. I can tell you when he went out that door and I was watching him fall, I was holding my breath until his parachute opened.

I didn't watch anything about this yesterday but I kept hearing about it from many people today. It's so crazy, but it's pretty incredible too. I can tell you one thing though and that is how I would never do it.

This really isn't a news item but I wasn't sure where to put it. Perhaps we need a feel good story thread? Anyhow, just saw this on Facebook and it brought tears to my eyes. There really are some good people in this world.

Kira TroiaWalmart

I'm a cashier at store 1883 and feel like I need to share this story. Tonight at the end of my shift I shut my light off and started ringing out my last customers of the day. They where a young married couple in their early 20's with an infant girl. As I was scanning their items a man starts to come in my line asking if I was closed. As much as I just wanted to go home I said yes but ill take you. He thanked me and waited patiently while the husband and wife tried different cards to pay for their groceries, diapers, and other baby items. Decline after decline the women was visibly shaken. As they started to go through their bags to put stuff back the man stepped up to the debit reader and swiped his card. They didn't even realize until I handed them the receipt and said he just paid for it for you. They where in complete shock, the wife teared up while thanking him as the husband shook his hand and thanked him. I also teared up and told him what a wonderful man he was and that was the nicest thing I have ever seen. Instead of taking credit His response was that I had made it happen for letting him check out at my register after I was closed. What an awesome selfless person, an angel on earth!!

I have to say, I love Chris Christie. It's absolutely disgusting that this bill got shoved aside the way it did. All the Congress had to do was vote on it but Boehner didn't schedule a vote. Like WTF??

He certainly appears to be in politics for the right reasons, that's for sure. I think he's someone I'd want on my side.

I think for him to get the nomination they will need to get rid of some of the old foggey (?) diehards in the Republican party. I think he's probably too liberal for many of them.

A thief weighs in on the article!!

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/01/04/ex-burglars-say-newspapers-gun-map-wouldve-made-job-easier-safer/

Whether people like it or not owning a gun legally is a right in this country and nobody should be part of an article trying to shame them. Should would list all women who had abortions?? It is their legal right no matter how much others hate it!
