| Roger won in a marathon match, now he is back at being number one in the world and the only man to win 15 Grand Slams in history. Bravo Roger you are the best! |

| Aw bummer. I would always root for the American and the poor guy has lost 3 times now and Roger has won many times. Oh well, what can you do That just the way the tennis ball bounces. _________________ "You can kinda just be. Just live your life -- and play." Adam Lambert - OUT mag. |

My heart broke for Andy. He put so much into this match and too loose by one bounce like that had to really hurt. He looked like he wanted to cry at during the trophy presentation. He was very gracious when interviewed but I bet all he wanted to do was go kick something in the dressing room. Tells me one thing, he's going to be a force to be reckoned with at the US Open. He's reminding me of Andre rededicating himself to the sport in his late twenties and that's when he played his best tennis. Watch out Rafa and Roger!
Roger is a great player but so are many others. If Rafa had been in the tournament he still would have been #1. I'm just not a huge Roger fan nor was I a Sampras fan. I guess I like my tennis players with a bit a fire in their belly. Roger and Pete are too laid back for me.
Congrats to Roger though. I hope everything goes well with the birth of his first child this summer. |

I love Roger, my husband and I are great fans of his, we like and enjoy other players but not as much as Roger. I love his finesse and elegance in the court, his cool demure has not match. |

| I agree with you Canear! It was such an amazing game - at times I couldn't watch & had to hope the neighbour's screams would give me a clue to what happened (they were obviously cheering on Andy too), & it was heartwrenching watching Andy's interview at the end, as you said, such a gracious loser & he seemed so very sincere too. I did miss the 3rd set - I had to go pick my Mum up as she had been to a very posh garden party! Hehehe - I ran in the marquee, shovered her over my shoulder, chucked her in the front seat & when I got to her flat just pressed the ejector seat button so I didn't miss too much of the tennis! Must give her a ring to see if she had a good time......... |

I felt the exact same way canear.
Turns out I couldn't really sleep at all so I got up and watched bits and pieces of the match in between trying to catch a little nap every now and again. Andy fought so hard. He gave it everything he had. He was close to it. My heart broke when I saw him sit down on the bench completely defeated and placed his head in his hands while hunched over looking down at the ground. It was so terribly sad. He really demonstrated just how far he has come and how much he wants this. As you said above canear Andy is going to be a real huge force to be reckoned with come the US Open. I'll definitely be rooting him on even more then.
A big congrats to Roger though for claiming his 15th Grand Slam. |

| I feel so bad for Andy. He worked his ass off that match and still didn't win. ugh this is going to be killer for him. He needs to talk to Andre Agassi and i say this cause i don't want this match to have a negative effect on Andy which it could. I believe he should talk to Andre cause Andre will understand what Andy is feeling. You remember in 1995 when Andre lost to Sampras in the US Open final. That match was haled one of the best in Tennis history because it went 5 sets and it was amazing tennis. Yes it was amazing but the loss was such a down thing for Andre,(he had won everything that summer and that loss to Pete was the first loss for him for a long time), that is seriously depressed him and it really screwed things up for him in 1996. He did well at the Olympics but nothing else 96 and 97 were bad years,(he fell to 197 in the world). That loss to Pete made him doubt himself and his tennis. It took a long time to get him centered in the game again and of course when he did come back totally he was amazing and refocused. I am afraid the same doubt can creep into Andy's thoughts cause of this match with Roger. The doubt of never being able to beat Roger when it counts and so on. I really think Andre could help in keeping Andy positive and not going down the doubt road. ETA: Congrats to Roger. Sampras and Borg were both there to see this match! Pete is no longer the greatest and in a way I bet that stings a little. That was Pete's claim to fame. He doesn't have all four Grand slams like Agassi and Federer have and he now doesn't have the most titles. I am not a huge Sampras fan and it made me so happy when Andre got the French Open cause he would finally have something over Pete Sampras. He now has two things over Sampras. A french title and A Golden Career slam,(They call it golden cause he also has the Olympic Gold Medal). Shannon :angel3:

| I know. Poor Andy. Tough year. I am evil and I am happy whenever either of the Williams girls get beat by somebody new (nothing personal against them - I am just tired of them ) _________________ "You can kinda just be. Just live your life -- and play." Adam Lambert - OUT mag. |

| It's understandable FC. I get tired of them too half the time. They're both still quite strong though so they deserve to be hanging around at the top. But it certainly is very nice to see others have their chance and their moment in the spotlight. Everyone should have that at least once. |

| That's the way I feel. It is just so nice to see some other people have that winning moment instead of the same over and over again. Now mind you in the 90s when the Bulls won the NBA Championship 6 times I did NOT feel the same way! _________________ "You can kinda just be. Just live your life -- and play."
