My all time fave tennis player was John McEnroe Very Happy

I know he was the bad boy of tennis - but I LOVED his passion!! I loved to watch him!

So you like Tennis to. I love Tennis but I admit ever since my favorite retired I have been kind of sad. Andre Agassi was and always will be my main tennis player and it broke my heart when he retired. I love that he is coming back to do World Team Tennis. It is not the big time but there is no way his back could take the grind of doing the ATP tour again. I love seeing him on the Tennis channel all the time. he and steffi are endorsing some french watch so their commercial is played all the time.

For other players i also like Roddick and Blake and i think Murry is pretty cool and i would love to see him win Wimbledon one of these years.

Shannon praying :angel3:

I used to be a huge tennis fan Angelwings, but lost interest a few years ago when it seemed to be mainly aces or a return of a potential ace that just went the right place - not too many rallies, though it has started to get more entertaining now!

Back in the day - as a young'un I loved to see Ilie Nastase - a right showman, then yes, FC John McEnroe for the entertainment value even if it was the wrong reasons.Oh & of course..Mr Cool 8) Bjorn Borg - never looked as if he broke into a sweat!

My favourite women's player was Chrissie Evert, although a boring baseline player, so graceful & serene.
Took Martina a long time for me to forgive her for beating Chrissie in the 1978 final at Wimbledon, & also I can't remember if it was that year - or the following, Martina played Evonne Goolagong Cawley who had injured herslelf badly iin the game....tried to carry on & could hardly stand on one foot - BUT Martina argued a point (even though she was leading!)
Evonne had to retire from that match anyway. I did forgive her eventually! Wink

Of course in hind sight (& being 31 years older) I can understand it now - professional sports people - but hey at 16 I thought everyone was honest (as I have no doubt Evonne was anyway)

Ohhhhhhh I so have to stick this song up here now - reminds me so much of that 1978 final!!!

Right now I'm really interested in Wimbledon. But as of the moment it's only on cable. I'm sure it'll be on regular TV over the weekend though. So I look forward to seeing some of it!

I am a fanatic tennis fan, I love Roger Federer, I been getting up at four in the morning to watch the matches live.

My husband and I big, big fans of tennis, my daughter played for UCI for one year.

Well Andy Murray is through to the Semi's woohoo
I'm so pleased (can you tell!) I'm so excited though not sure when he's on court on Friday - so I may miss it being at work Sad

Blimey Foreveryoung..getting up & 4am to watch the matches is dedication & fanatical!!!

I'd be more ...even if it was the final & Andy Murray was in it! (What can I say...I love my bed Very Happy )

Saying that.... I did stay up all night to watch Torville & Dean win (I think) the World Professional Championships back in 1984 which was shortly after they won the gold at the Olympics.I had been to the pub that evening...& after a few drinkingfriend as a pre-competition celebration I staggered home, fell in bed & thought (in a kinda drunken slurish way) "How I'm I gonna sssshhtay awake - hic"
Oh well, the BBC solved that... they showed a film called "Black Christmas" 1974 version beforehand....& if you haven't seen it I won't ruin it - but I will add that the attic entrance was in my bedroom affraid
Anyway - I had no problems staying awake for the Championships after that! :)

Well the battle of the Andy's on Friday should be interesting! One wonders who the most pressure will be on.......Andy Murray carrying the dreams of his country on his shoulders or Andy Roddick trying to get back to the Finals again after a few years. It was cute in an interview today when Roddick said he's just going to pretend when the crowd is cheering 'Go Andy!' that they mean him!

The other match is Federer and Haas. A battle of the hunks! Who cares if they play tennis, they are both so good to look at! fainting

Well it's true about the pressure, I daresay the majority of the crowd will cheer on Murray.I don't know if he will feel too much pressure though...after all he is following Tim Henman as the Brit number one (who I couldn't stand!! the personality of a toilet seat Wink & never got past the semi's )
Murray is more exciting to watch & even if he does go out in the Semi's I'm glad to be supporting him.

I just hope that both semi's are exciting games to watch...& good luck to all (but a bit extra for Murray from me Very Happy )

Is the tennis on cable? I wonder if I'd be able to watch it. Probably over the weekend when it gets to the finals.

I loved, loved, LOVED Andre back when he was playing. He was my absolute fave.

I was so bummed when Nadal had to back out for this competition. I hope he gets better and is able to return with a fire under his belt next year

I'm rooting for Mr Roddick. He's had some really bum years as of late. I just want to see him come blazing back out. World be wonderful.

It's on our sports network up here but it should be on NBC there. Check the listings but I think it's on Thursday and Friday mornings and definitely over the weekend. The men's semi finals are Friday and the finals are on Sunday. It's the women's semis today and finals on Saturday.

I'm rooting for Andy Roddick as well. He has had issues with his attitude at times but he sure seems to be into the game now. If Rafael Nadal isn't there, it's AR all the way for me!

I guess I am the only one rooting for Roger, it is okay he is the best not matter what, Raffa is right there with him, but Roger is the only man in history to have won the four grand slams and it is the only one tied with Pete on grand slam tittles.

I am not a fan of Rodick and I don't care much for Murray either.

Andre Agassi won the 4 grand slams as well I do believe and he presented Roger with the winner's trophy at the French Open this year if I'm not mistaken.

Yes you are right, sorry about that, my mistake, what I meant to say was that even now that Roger is tight with Pete with 14 apiece, Pete has never won the French.

That really is an amazing feat! It's hard to believe that as great as Sampras was, he never won the French Open.
