| Well, looks like I won't be watching this afterall. I NEVER miss it either...yes, even if is mainly showcasing a bunch of narcissistic, overpaid, overrated assholes. I love it anyway, sigh. I tried to order ABC west via Direct TV just now and they informed me I have to get approval of some waiver or some BS and they will not get it tonight. In the past, I just pick up the phone and get the network or cable channel I want working immediately. What a crock. Anyway, I will be relying now on those of you who get to watch to fill me in with all the good details. |

| OH NO! You don't get ABC?? That is so sad and maddening! Well, I will say lots of gorgeous gowns! I'm a little disappointed in Kate W.'s though. Meryl's is a little drab. Lisa Rhinna has the biggest lips on the planet tonight!! The Bawa Wawa special was really good. I feel a little different about Mickey Rourke. Seems he is just a messed up guy alright. He isn't my choice of person or actor - but if he wins tonight it will be a nice moment I think. Love Anne Hathaway - that is all! The Jo Bros are cute - I don't think they can sing worth a damn though Hugh Jackman is gorgeous and incredible sweet and talented!! Time for me to go get cozy under my blanket with some tea and watch the show!! See ya during commercial breaks every now and then! _________________ "You can kinda just be. | OK - opening number was awesome! Look for it on You Tube!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE what they are doing having 5 previous winners through the years come out together and give tributes to each nominee!! They were all in tears and so was I! I take back what I said in earlier posts! That was beautiful! How wonderful for each nominee to get a moment like that. Supporting Actress winner - Penelope Cruz (sp?) lovely speech. Thought she was going to faint. Very cute. _________________ "You can kinda just be. Just live your life -- and play." | OH man - I wonder how many tissues were just used when Heath won... I know I used several. What I wouldn't give to have seen Heath there to collect his award. I am sure he would have been blown away. This is such a good and entertaining Oscar telecast. So different than previous years. Man - Natalie Portman's pink gown was so pretty!! She is such a cutie! So ding dang tiny too! _________________ "You can kinda just be. Just live your life -- and play." Adam Lambert - OUT mag. |

| Congrats to Sean Penn and Kate Winslet and Slumdog Millionaire which one about a million awards!! Song, Director, Best Picture and a whole bunch more! I did not like Kate's hair or dress. Bummer on her biggest night and she usually looks so amazing. The mixture of old time actors and actresses coming out to present was just touching and beautiful. You can tell the whole audience and especially the nominees loved it! Standing ovations for all of them. Very touching to see someone like Sophia Loren pay tribute to Meryl and Shirley McClain singing the praises of Anne Hathaway and making her cry! I loved it! Excellent award show! So sorry you missed it HL I bet you will be able to see parts of it on You Tube and the entertainment news shows. _________________ "You can kinda just be. Just live your life -- and play." | Yep, I missed a good one it sounds like. Not thrilled Sean Penn won at all. Glad I missed that. As we knew, Slumdog would take it all. It does look like a good movie, but man I am pissed they dissed my lady Kristen for her oscar level performance in I've loved you. Boo hoo about that... I see what you mean about Kate Winslet's dress, just strange and not very flattering. Did'nt notice the hair being awful, but I will check it out tomorrow. I bet you are heading to bed! Thanks for being my Oscar correspondent! |

| I thought Kate's hair was a little matronly but her gown was very pretty. I was a little disappointed that Mickey Rourke but Sean Penn was a deserving winner. If you ever get a chance, try to see the PBS production (basically they filmed the stage play) of Hugh in Oklahoma! when it was revived in the West End. I saw it on TV a couple years ago and I thought he was amazing. And I was coming from a perspective of someone who really didn't think he had much of a voice. Did anyone else think Jerry Lewis looked ill? I wonder if he's had a stroke or something? His wife and daughter looked so proud. |

| Matronly is a perfect description of her hair. It is just that I have seen Kate in so many dresses that are far more stunning on her - IMHO. I guess that is why I was disappointed. Well, after hubby told me some stories about Sean Penn I have to admit I was a little disappointed it wasn't Mickey that won too (actually I was rooting for old Frank) But he is a really good actor and it looks like he did a great job as Harvey and I think it was Hollywood's revenge for Prop. 8. I thought Hugh was just excellent as the host! I'll keep my eye out for his Oklahoma. _________________ "You can kinda just be. Just live your life -- and play." Adam Lambert - OUT mag. |

There are tons of clips from the show - the opening number, the musical number, Sean's speech, Heath's win, the funny Ben Stiller/Natalie Portman bit and more! Just keep scrolling down. They are mixed in with lots of Hollywood news! http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/_________________ "You can kinda just be. Just live your life -- and play." Adam Lambert - OUT mag. |

| LOVE, LOVE, LOVE what they are doing having 5 previous winners through the years come out together and give tributes to each nominee!! They were all in tears and so was I! I take back what I said in earlier posts! That was beautiful! How wonderful for each nominee to get a moment like that. I DID NOT LIKE THIS AT ALL. it was a time waster and I thought it disrespected last years winners. I'm Glad Daniel Day did not do it. Or Javier. I thought the set was beautiful. I liked Hugh Jackman and the opening number was great. I do wish they would ditch the rest of the musical numbers though. Just annouce the bloody winners. I was kind of pulling for Mickey Rourke but not surprised at Sean Penn winning. I was a mess after Heath's Family accepted for him. What a waste he is no longer here. I thought there were so many pretty gowns. 1. Natalie Portman :BEAUTIFUL! 2. Penelope Cruz, that was a vintage gown from the 50's it was gorgeous. 3. Frida Pinto , that blue dress!!! I was happy Slumdog won. It is such a great uplifting hopeful movie. |

| Oh I couldn't disagree more! What a wonderful moment for all the nominees. Usually those who do not win have no moment other than their face in a little box as they hear another name announced. Now each leaves with their own special little tribute from a legend. All ten ladies were in tears and for me it was stunning! Last year's winners were in the center, got to give a tribute to one of the nominee's and got to open the envelope and announce the winner. Plus they got to stand there among legends in the biz and realize they are a part of that history. I cannot imagine that DDL thought he was too good to stand between Sir Anthony Hopkins and Ben Kingsley. He should have felt honored to be standing there with them. I know I would! If I could have been standing there in the middle of Goldie Hawn, Sophia Loren, Shirley McClaine, Eva Marie Saint, I'd have been over the moon! I still think DDL probably just couldn't make it due to filming in another country or something. I'd love to find out for sure. Oh, and Cuba was simple adorable in his little tribute to RDJ! Very nice moment for RDJ! Frida would be gorgeous in a potato sack! Goodness what a face she has! Best dress I have ever seen Penelope in! She was adorable during her speech! I want to rent Slumdog. Looks like an awesome film! _________________ "You can kinda just be. Just live your life -- and play." Adam Lambert - OUT mag. |

| Daniel Day is currently filming NINE the musical. I still don't like the way it was done. OH RDJ looked GREAT last night. I thought he was the best dressed male there. |

| RDJ is soooo gorgeous! Did you see the scenes from Sherlock at the end of The Oscars?!!! EEEK! It and he look fabulous!! Plus I see he has another film coming out soon too! I am so happy for him and how he has put his life and career back together! He really is my fave actor right now! I've loved him since I first saw him! _________________ "You can kinda just be. | YES I cannot wait for Sherlock Holmes. I've read all the Holmes books! I think it going to be great. I like RDJ a lot too, but it is pretty obvious who my favorites are. |
