| Well, for me Depp is a very close second to RDJ. I do think DDL is probably the most gifted actor out there, but he doesn't really make the kind of movies that I like to see. Though, I love musicals and I really want to see Nine! _________________ "You can kinda just be. Just live your life -- and play." Adam Lambert - OUT mag. |

| Let’s forget about superhero movies for a second and bask in the glory of a new shot from Rob Marshall’s upcoming musical adaptation of Federico Fellini’s 8 1/2, Nine featuring co-stars Sophia Loren and Daniel Day-Lewis that popped up over on celebuzz. Their gallery consists of four additional shots from the set in Rome. In the pisc Daniel Day-Lewis, who plays the middle-aged Italian film director the Broadway adaptation focuses on, is seen driving a classic car around the Italian capital with Sophia Loren, who plays his “Mamma.” Nine was listed as my #3 most anticipated film of 2009 and I am chomping at the bit for that November 25 release date to roll around. It is one film I am not sure I will be able to avoid watching the trailer for as I can’t wait to see just what kind of visual style Marshall is going to bring to this film. He has brought along with him Chicago and Memoirs of a Geisha cinematographer Dion Beebe as well as set decorator Gordon Sim so I expect it to be impressive. On top of that his cast includes Marion Cotillard, Penélope Cruz, Sophia Loren, Nicole Kidman, Judi Dench, Kate Hudson, Daniel Day-Lewis and Stacy Ferguson. I really don’t know what more to say. You can check out celebuzz’s gallery here and get more on the film on our official page right here. The film’s synopsis follows. The musical, Nine, was inspired by the Federico Fellini film 8½ and focused on Guido (Day-Lewis) a film director stuck in neutral as he tries to make a film while haunted by the demands of all the women in his life, including a wife, mistress and even his deceased mother. | Cool! I think this is going to be an awesome film! BTW, I thought Sofia's dress last night was just horrible Way too busy for an older woman and just not becoming on her. I love Jennifer Aniston, and her dress was beautiful, but I so wish she would do something pretty with her hair at these events. Oh, how many of us cheered a little that Brangelina didn't win anything? _________________ "You can kinda just be. Just live your life -- and play." Adam Lambert - OUT mag. |

| Yes, that would have pushed the nausea button big time if Brangelina had won anything for me anyway. | Aerwin wrote: | | In the pisc Daniel Day-Lewis, who plays the middle-aged Italian film director the Broadway adaptation focuses on, is seen driving a classic car around the Italian capital with Sophia Loren, who plays his “Mamma.” |
This sounds wonderful beyond words! DDL will do an Italian accent I'm sure! *Swoon* |

| Oh, I hated Beyonce's dress! Horrid! I think the worst for me of those I saw. But then that girl gets on my last nerve anyway! However, Elisha Keys has NEVER looked more gorgeous! I didn't like Heidi Klum's hair either. Girl is usually a knockout though. She did have a great red dress. _________________ "You can kinda just be. Just live your life -- and play." | I've been trying to think of what that hairdo of Kate Winslet's reminds me of, and I finally came up with it: Olive Oyl. Good thing she's not a tall, skinny girl with big feet! |

| YES! That is it! Fire the stylist!!! Just some fun info! | Quote: | EW's reporters were on the scene inside and all around the Kodak Theater as the Academy Awards were handed out on Sunday evening. Here's a taste of what we saw and heard at the parties, bars, and, yes, bathrooms on Hollywood's biggest night. And be sure to check out our EWPopWatch Twitter stream for more. (Reporting by Dave Karger, Ari Karpel, Whitney Pastorek, Nicole Sperling, Sean Smith, and Adam B. Vary)
* The Reader director Stephen Daldry to EW after the show: "Thank God Kate [Winslet] won. The show was brilliant. Ten times better than usual. And I think Baz [Luhrmann, who choreographed one of the big musical numbers] is a genius."
* Jerry Lewis, looking really irritated, trying to move through the crowd at the Governors Ball. Screams "Come on!!" At full volume. Oscar in hand.
* Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa talking to a bunch of men at the Governors Ball -- while sitting next to a bored-looking Heidi Klum!
* Judd Apatow, the man behind the Seth Rogen/James Franco short film, in an e-mail to EW after the show: It seemed to play well, "I am safe!"
* Best Actor presenter Sir Ben Kingsley, overheard after the show while waiting for his wife to show up to the Governors Ball: "Everyone got their moment in the spotlight. It was really wonderful."
* Best Original Score and Best Original Song winner A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire) backstage, on why M.I.A. didn't perform with him tonight: "There's more important things in her life. She had a baby, and she took care of her baby."
DURING THE SHOW...
* Kate Winslet just walked through the lobby with her Oscar and got huge round of applause.
* Baz Luhrmann's wife just got her train stomped on. "You should never wear a train to the Oscars, but I do every year."
* Man on Wire's Philippe Petit says he'll high-wire in N.Y. this fall. "I am going to walk to a library, I won't tell where."
* Brad and Angelina just cut the line at the bar to get a drink. When they realized what happened, they apologized profusely to everyone.
* Sean Penn is at the bar drinking a Coke and talking about Man on Wire with a group of people.
* Philip Seymour Hoffman says he's in a hat because he's in a film with "crazy hair." Says he'd "rather deal with hat jokes" than hair jokes.
* Spotted: Anne Hathaway chatting with Viola Davis. Peter Chernin chatting with Brad Grey.
* Spotted: Heidi Klum and Seal hiding out in a first-aid room, drinking champagne and eating a sandwich.
* All of Penelope Cruz's entourage have the letter "P" on their heads. They drew them on after she won.
* Mickey Rourke just ran in and out of the bathroom. Hugh Jackman's schmoozing with the audience during breaks is keeping everyone in their seats.
* Milk's Dustin Lance Black: "Harvey [Milk] gave me his story and it saved my life. I felt like it was time to pass it on."
* Stephen Daldry on critical articles about The Reader: "I don't recognize those. I take criticism but I don't recognize those articles."
* Emile Hirsch is wondering if he can bring a drink back to his seat.
* Elton John is totally riveted by Dustin Lance Black's speech.
* Penelope Cruz's sister is in the lobby bar getting texts from her sis and reading them to her dates. They posed for a pic and yelled "Viva Penelope!"
ON THE RED CARPET AND BEFORE THE SHOW STARTED...
* David Frost said the last time he was here, The Deer Hunter won. "The red carpet has become much more of a machine."
* Harvey Weinstein says he hopes all his hard work in promoting The Reader pays off for Kate Winslet: "She's certainly deserving," he said
* Slumdog Millionaire's Christian Coulson and Simon Beaufoy want two things after having been on the red carpet for 1 1/2 hours: a martini and a cigarette.
* Now the kids from Slumdog Millionaire just asked Meryl Streep for her autograph. She hugged them and said, "You are wonderful."
* Brad Pitt on who took a longer doing their hair tonight, him or Angelina: "Always me."
* At the end of the red carpet, the Slumdog Millionaire kids just asked Daniel Craig for his autograph.
* Frank Langella on the difference between his performance in Frost/Nixon the play and the movie: In the movie, "I could sit down more."
* Overheard: Fox gossip guru Roger Friedman to Penelope Cruz: "If it doesn't work out tonight, don't blame me."
* Overheard: Heidi Klum to Dev Patel. "You were a genius but your hair was much bigger."
* Spotted: CAA partner Bryan Lourd in the third floor lobby. His shirt is studded with diamond cufflinks and studs -- a gift from client Brad Pitt.
* Sean Penn shaking hands with Richard Jenkins. Sarah Jessica Parker fawning all over Jenkins and his turn in The Visitor.
* Robert Pattinson on the Oscars compared to Twilight premieres: "It's more organized. At Twilight premieres, you think you're going to die."
* Turns out Zac Efron was waiting for his date, Vanessa Hudgens, who was being photographed. They walked into the Kodak Theatre holding hands.
* Doubt writer John Patrick Shanley says he's working on an original script next. Will give only one-word hint: "Magic."

I bolded what Sir Ben said because that is the point I was trying to make and that is the reason I liked it so much. Last year's winners got their big moment. Last night was about the 2008 nominees._________________ "You can kinda just be. Just live your life -- and play." Adam Lambert - OUT mag. |

| The Views on that are certainly split .I hated it . Yes the 2008 had their moment but so did all the other previous winners. It slowed it down and the speeches seemed canned to me. From Chicago Trib: It felt as if the introductions of the five nominees, which were given by previous supporting-actress winners, would go on forever. The process repeated itself again for the other acting awards, and there was more I was going to say about this but then…zzzzzz….. I fell asleep. The reviews are split on Hugh too. I thought he was fine. But I prefer a comedian. But if it were up to me all the musical numbers would be canned. That is one reason I prefer the GG's. Read the noms annouce the winner. END. |

| I like the songs that are up for the awards to be performed- especially by the artist who does the performance of the song in the film. I like that there is an opening number too. They could have skipped the one in the middle to save time along with the montages - except I do like the memoriam. If I could be the producer I would also cut out the less interesting awards like set decorations etc. Nobody really cares to watch those. Nobody will ever be as good of an Oscar host as Billy Crystal IMHO! The GGs have always been my fave award show! It is always just fun and moves quickly! Plus, I watch more TV then see movies so I love seeing at the Television stars. _________________ "You can kinda just be. Just live your life -- and play." Adam Lambert - OUT mag. |

| Well, did'nt see the show, but I have seen some of the oscar fashion police shows.. I think RDJ has certainly been getting some botox and restylene and looks about 10 years younger, maybe has had a bit more work done. Love him anyway though, and don't blame him a bit. He needed it. My fav dress so far was Anne Hathaway's, and my best dressed man was the young man who starred in Twilight. He smouldered in that suit! *fans self madly* |
