How cool you got to go to the movies today! Glad you enjoyed it!

Has anyone seen that "Julie & Julia" yet? Looks cute!

Yep, I'm glad I got to go too. I actually really wasn't feeling up to going out today but I made myself go anyways. I'm really glad that I did too. I had a lot of fun.

I have not seen Julie and Julia yet. Hopefully I will over the weekend. If my parents go to the movies on Sunday (my next day off) I'll be able to go along and see that one while they'll likely be seeing something different. Crosses fingers!

I loved the original FAME movie. I liked the series a lot too. It's too bad the guy that played LeRoy (Gene Anthony Ray) came to such a tragic end. And the guy who played the gay kid with the curly red white boy 'fro ended up completely bald! There was so much really cool good stuff in that movie.

There's a scene in the movie where the acting teacher is speaking to his new students and he tells them that only a miniscule percentage of people who consider themselves actors make their living solely from acting, and most of them are doing commercials. Everyone else has other jobs to pay the bills (waiting tables, tending bar, etc.) while they take classes and audition and prepare for their big break. I always think of that when I hear someone from Idol described as a failure because they aren't at Carrie Underwood levels of success. As long as you can support yourself and your family doing what you do as an artist and don't need another job to pay the bills, you are a success.

Bravo to your whole post. I so agree i just read and article on Taylor and I never knew this but the boy has been on pretty much automatic pilot since his season of Idol ended. He has either been touring, on Broadway, doing the touring company of Grease, or making cd's. He has been totally working and making money. When he gets called a failure I know people haven't done their home work at all. He is living his dream and doing what he wants; he is not worrying about how he is going to pay bills or where his next meal is coming from. Also Diana Degarmo is another who is having a wonderful career even though she doesn't have a platinum selling cd. She is doing what many actors/singers would give their eye teeth to do. She is 22 and has done more in her career before she even turned that. She is for sure no failure. There are so many others that I could name. These people are doing what they want and not worrying about stuff that others trying to break into the business are.

I wanna see "Inglorious Basterds". I understand the villain in the movie is supposed to be really good; he won the Best Actor prize at the Cannes Film Festival.

AngelWings, I imagine there are plenty of other Idols who've been working consistently since their season ended.

Oh i know i just mention those two cause they are the two that I hear get the FAILURE LABEL the most. When Simon does interviews before the seasons start he will sometimes mention these two in a very not nice way. I know there are lots and i mean lots of past idols that are out there making in the music biz now. Joseph Murena who didn't even make it into the top 12 is one of them. He has a band,(they are called Ever After) and they have a 5 song ep on Itunes. It is awesome i so recommend it. Anthony Fedorov is also doing really really well even though he still has not been signed to a label. He is doing musicals. He and Diana just finished doing a few shows of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat. Not a fan of this woman but Syesha just got picked up to play the Beyonce part in Dreamgirls. Carly Smithson is the front woman for a new band,(they are the band member of what used to be Evanessance).

Back on topic of movies. Teddy glad you had fun with your BFF and got to go see a good movie.

Badger, my dad wants to see that movie. Every time he sees the commercial he gets more insistent about going to see it. Is that supposed to be out this weekend?

I'm not a big Brad Pitt fan either, but I have heard good things about the movie itself. I understand it is very gory though so if that's something that bothers anyone, you probably need to be prepared for it.

Well I live for gore. I'm sure there's something wrong with me , but the more the better.I've seen all Tarantino's movies so I know what he's like.

I saw District 9 over the weekend. what a surprise and a GREAT sci -fi movie. And it is heartbreaking.

Colin is coming home next weekend to see Inglorious Bastards with me . So of course if he wants to go I'll wait.

Well not exactly a movie, but a TV adaptation that is going to be shown tomorrow & monday in the UK that I'm soooooooooo looking forward to seeing!

Wuthering Heights http://www.itv.com/drama/perioddrama/wutheringheights/abouttheshow/default.html

I have seen various versions, & for me the 1939 version has never been topped.I know it doesn't follow the novel (which for my embarrassment I still haven't read),but it was so moody & heartwrenching at times.Merle Oberon & Lawrence Olivier were outstanding.
When I read in the TV mag that yet another attempt would be done, I just rolled my eyes, but upon reading some articles....I can't wait to watch it now impatient

That'll be me in front of TV tomorrow night & monday night popcorn

OMG YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THIS YET???!!!! Can it be we got this in the states FIRST??! We had it back in the winter. It is excellent! Tom Hardy is a GREAT Heathcliff , even though his teeth are kinda gnarly Very Happy Of course to me Ralph Fiennes is the ultimate Heathcliff . But this a good adaptation even though the ending differs quite different from the book.
Wuthering Heights is one of favorite , favorite , favorite books. I've ready it maybe 30 times.

The BEST adaptation is the Ralph one it stays very close to the book. Though Juliette Binoche is terribly miscast.
