| I remember one year Benicio Del Toro was nominated and won as Best Actor for his role in Traffic at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards yet was nominated and won as Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars. As for Kate Winslet, my guess is that TPTB at her movies, put her up for Best Actress for both films taking the gamble that she'd get a nomination and not end up canceling herself out. Speaking of Kate Winslet, she did a guest appearance on the first season of Extras, where she played herself as being desperate to win an Oscar and convinced that the reason she hadn't was because of the kind of movies she was in. At one point, she says something about how while she gets the horror of the Nazis, it's now at the point where it's getting boring, we get it,move on. But that being in a movie about the Nazis practically guarantees you on Oscar. So it will be ironic if she does win for The Reader. |

I hope she does win. I've not seen the movie Anne Hathaway is nominated for , BUT the few things I 've seen her in I don't think she's all that. Of Course I could retch that the holier than thous are nominated. I'm Pulling for mickey Rourke. |

| Not me - Mickey is creepy I'd like to see old Frank get it. How sweet for him. Nice old guy who has been around forever and not another druggie who can't ever get his shit together. But that's the way it is in Hollywood. I think Mickey will win, but I would prefer Sean for Milk or even Brad - because at least he washes his hair! They have predicted that Anne Hathaway would get nominated for that role since the day that movie was released. Every critic had her at the top of their list for nominations. So I am guessing her work in that film is quite good indeed. Kate Hudson has done nothing but airhead comedies since her break out role as Penny Lane in Almost Famous, but that does not negate the fact that she gave an award worthy performance in that film. Some actors/actresses prefer the light romantic comedic roles. Jennifer A. got some award noms and excellent reviews for The Good Girl and Reese won an Oscar even though she does mostly romantic comedy like Four Christmases. So I don't think because Anne has done a lot of fun or light hearted roles in the past means she is not capable of excellent work given the right role. Hey, if you had told me during the days of 90210 that Hillary Swank would one day have not one but TWO Oscars, I would have laughed at you! If Kate doesn't win the Oscar I would love for it to be Anne, but I think Kate has this one. _________________ "You can kinda just be. Just live your life -- and play." Adam Lambert - OUT mag. |

| Did anyone here ever see Anne in Havoc? It's a much different movie from what you'd expect her to be in. She plays a girl from the suburbs who gets involved in Latino gang and drug culture in L.A. along with her best friend (it's implied that they are lovers too). Hollywood loves a comeback story so I wouldn't be surprised if Mickey won. But it also wouldn't surprise me if the frontrunners (I'd say Mickey and Sean) ended up splitting the vote and letting someone else win. |

| I didn't see Havoc - but I have heard about it. Sounds interesting! Yes, I am sure Hollywood will go for Mickey and his comeback, though it is certainly a comeback for Frank too. But Frank's back story is not as "colorful" I guess in order for me to root for somebody I have to at least see some redeeming qualities as a human being. RDJ got his act together - and even when he was messed-up you could see how hard he was trying. Mickey just seems to be a total sleaze. Can't get excited about that. I will agree from the few scenes of the movie I have seen it appears he does a very good job with the role. Let's hope he can bring himself to shower for the Oscars You could be right about the vote split - it's happened before. _________________ "You can kinda just be. Just live your life -- and play." | I like Frank Langella , it would be cool if he won. Did you see him in Dracula years ago? I loved that. I guess I am just a sucker for anyone that gets knocks down and manages to pick themeslves up. I read an interview with him in RS months ago and my heart went out to Mickey. Plus he loves dogs. I have to like that. Colin is going to se The wrestler . Will let you know what he thinks. He really likes him . He started being a fan from Sin city and watched all his old stuff. I guess Anne Hathaway s really good in that movie. I've not seen it so I can't judge. I just did not care for her in things I've seen her in. But she is a very pretty and poised girl. As long as the Saints of america don't win , I'm fine. |

| Oh god - can you just see if they BOTH won! UGH! all the interviews the next day no TV with them. I'd barf. I did see Dracula! Plus he used to be on some of my mom's soaps when I was little. So I have a wee bit of a sentimental soft spot going for him. Plus in the scenes I have seen from Frost/Nixon it looks like he nailed the role. I think a lot of these actors knock themselves down with their lifestyles Yes, Anne is very poised and well spoken and funny and friendly in her interviews and appearances. See that is how I am - if I find myself really enjoying and respecting "the person" then I root more for them. Kate Winslet seems to be a very lovely person - so I will be very happy for her too if she wins. _________________ "You can kinda just be. Just live your life -- and play." Adam Lambert - OUT mag. |

| I really enjoyed the SAGs. I liked that there were a few surprises - like Streep and Penn! I wonder if this changes the odds for the Oscars? I'd like to see Penn and Streep win. Merle's speech was so great! I have to admit I would have loved for Melissa Leo to win! When I saw who she was it took me back to "All My Children" so many years ago, and back to Homicide: Life on the Streets. She is an amazing actress and what a thrill to see her get some recognition! I would have just fallen over if she had won. But I am so excited for her to be nominated! I was happy about Sally Field too since I love that show! I will admit to being a little bored with Tiny Fey, Alec Baldwin and 30 Rock winning every damn award this year. It's reached the point where there is no excitement in their categories because you already know they are going to win. Bummer for all the fellow nominees. They must go to the award shows knowing they are not going to win. Very happy for the cast of Mad Men! Disappointed for Jon Hamm, but I know Hugh Laurie is amazing as House. Lots of the ladies looked really lovely - but I thought Marissa Tomei looked under the weather or something. _________________ "You can kinda just be. Just live your life -- and play." | I did'nt think Tina Fey's acceptance speech was funny either, just bizarre. As if she does'nt have enough bloody money already....give me a break about royalties already, sheesh! Was that tall young, dark haired girl with Alec Baldwin his daughter? Marissa Tomei looked like a fish out of water. And in the name of god why does she not hire a stylist? I wondered why they did'nt show Heath in the stars that have passed over the last year tribute...maybe I just missed it, but I don't think so. |

| Well, Sean's always been a favorite to win the Oscar and I think he's taken a lot of the critics awards, so I don't think his winning the SAG Award is much of an upset. Also, remember that the SAG Awards are only voted on by people in SAG, that is actors just as the Directors Guild Awards are voted on by directors, The Producers Guild Awards is voted on by producers, etc. At the Oscars, everyone votes for each category although when it comes to nominations, you're only allowed to vote according to what category you joined the Academy in. That is, directors can only nominate directors, actors can only nominate actors, etc. Speaking of Hugh Laurie, did anyone ever see him in Jeeves and Wooster also starring his school days buddy Stephen Fry? He's really funny in that. |

| HL - because Heath was shown last year. He died over a year ago (one year to the day of the Oscar nominations) and he was the last one shown last year. I agree, when so many people in this country are struggling and unemployed - very wealthy stars complaining about residuals is in rather poor taste. I like her, but I am tiring of her. I also think her making fun of Palin has a lot to do with her winning a lot of awards this year. I think her Hollywood peers LOVED that. Not taking away from her work on 30 Rock. I am sure she is great in it - but I do think the Hollywood gang took great joy in her ripping Palin. Badger, I know Sean was an early fave - but lately I've been hearing and reading a lot of talk of Mickey winning and some of our local entertainment reporters picked Mickey to win the SAG as well as the Oscar. So for me I was all prepared for them to announce Mickey as the winner last night. So I was pleasantly surprised it was Sean instead. Looks like Mickey at least took a stab at cleaning up last night! I've heard that Hugh has done a lot of comedy. I saw him host SNL and he was a hoot! _________________ "You can kinda just be.
