| I just cannot understand a parent doing this, but yet things like this happen all the time. I am just baffled on how anyone could put their child in danger, emotionally or physically. |

| Yes I was following this story on another forum as well as on tv and the thing that made me suspicious was when mother and daughter were not reunited after she was found and the mother was only given very limited access to her. It's so disgusting and heartless the way this girl was treated by her own mother and apparently they got the idea for this scam from the Maddie McCann story after seeing how much money was donated to the fund for her. It was also heartless (as well as downright cheeky) of them to play on the sympathies of the McCanns by contacting them and asking for money. You have to admire the neighbours though - despite being so badly let down by these people who had them searching and campaigning for nothing - they have said that if another child were to go missing in their neighbourhood - they would do it all again. |

| I agree RC - the neighbours rallied around so very much & must have felt so betrayed! Thank god the outcome wasn't more tragic!! |

| Whoa! Punished yes, but not quite so harshly like that for the benefit of the judges. |

| That's what's so upsetting! They only did it for their money - not for the benefit of the kids. The punishments didn't fit the crimes either in some cases. _________________ "You can kinda just be. Just live your life -- and play." Adam Lambert - OUT mag. |

| I cannot believe this one! | Quote: | Dayton Mother Caught Breast Feeding and Driving
Friday, February 27, 2009 – updated: 5:36 pm EST February 27, 2009 KETTERING, Ohio -- A Dayton mother is facing charges for breast feeding her daughter while driving her other children to school.
Genine Compton was pulled over by Kettering police Thursday at Far Hills and Dorothy Lane while taking her other children to school.
Police say Comptom could have injured her child and others because she was breast feeding and talking on the cell phone while driving the vehicle.
Compton was issued citations for child endangering and violating the child restraint law. Compton told News Center 7 Friday, "If my child's hungry, I'm going to feed it."
Police say it is against the law to drive with a child in your lap. Children under 4 or 40 pounds must be properly restrained in a child safety seat.
In this case, officers said Compton had the child in the lap with the baby's head up against the steering wheel. They say there is not only the risk of a crash, but deployment of the airbag.
Compton said she will take the advice of the officers into consideration, but she may breast feed her baby while driving in the future if she feels that is is necessary.
She could face up to 180 days in jail and fines for the child endangering citation. |

| Do any of you watch the show Meerkat Manor? I post (actually, I lurk most of the time) on their message board over at Discovery.com and one of the big cause celebres over there was the story of Chico the L.A. Zoo meerkat. Chico is an elderly kat whose companion died about a year ago and he had been alone ever since. Meerkats are sociable animals who live in mobs and some meerkat aficionados took it upon themselves to get the L.A. Zoo to find a friend for Chico. Well, their hard work paid off, because the Virginia Zoo also had an elderly male meerkat who needed a companion, so Barky was shipped off to L.A. to be Chico's new buddy. They share a new exhibit in the children's zoo. And the zoo also got four new young meerkats from a zoo in North Carolina! They're living in Chico's old habitat outdoors. Anyway, here's a cute picture of the two of them together. All together now: AWWWW!!!! |

| They are precious! How wonderful for them! I do not watch the show - I have seen bits and pieces of it though - and they are wonderful and interesting creatures! Thanks for bringing over the cute pic! _________________ "You can kinda just be. Just live your life -- and play." Adam Lambert - OUT mag. |
