I have seen this list before. Some stores just have expanded too much in an unstable market and others just are in the wrong location.

Wow, good to know. I hope the Macy's, Loew's, and Home Depot in our town does'nt close down. That would leave us with just about nothing.

| I hope we don't lose ours either. We have both a Home Depot and a Lowes we go to. Love both stores. We already lost a couple of the restaurants we love. We might be losing our Applebees which would really be sad since Mom and I eat there a lot now that Dad is gone. I posted the list so people who have gift cards can use them soon before they miss out, plus to know not to buy anybody a gift card from the stores in trouble. Also, there might be some good sales for Xmas. It really is sad to see how many stores are in trouble We use to have a Bombay that we would go to a lot. We didn't buy much there, but we really enjoyed looking around. I guess too many people were like us. Loved to look but not buy much. _________________ "You can kinda just be. | I really appreciate knowing this info, thanks for posting it. My husband just picked up a cute little table and lamp from Linen and Things at the Seattle store for practically nothing. He was looking for Queen sheets, but they were all gone. |

THE GAP???? I guess in a very unstable economy speciality and high end stores are the first to go. I did see on CNN the only stores to have any kind of profit last quarter were Wal mart and Target. I LOVE Target. Love . Love. It takes my 45 mins to get there so it is a big treat for me. For christmas I want a Target gift card.

We are lucky enough to have two Walmarts and two Targets within 20 mins. from our house. We have both a Super Walmart and a Super Target about 40 mins away. So we are good. We also have a Meijer 20 mins. away. Love that store. We have a Sam's Club (which I belong too) about 15 mins. away. Our neighborhood is out in the middle of farmlands - but we can get to so many big stores in about 20 mins. There are two huge malls we go to - both about 45 mins. away. So shopping is not as bad for us as one might think when they see where we live! We have a 16 screen movie theater about 15 mins away too. Yep, the speciality stores are taking a beating. So are fine restaurants. In yesterday's Chicago Trib they said some of the fancy downtown Chicago restaurants are hurting so bad that they have changed their menus and added burgers and fries! Eric can tell you that people are ordering a lot less pizza than they were this time last year. I bet families are eating more store bought/frozen pizzas than pizzeria pizza _________________ "You can kinda just be. Just live your life -- and play." Adam Lambert - OUT mag.

Here in the UK - my local MFI store has just closed and I heard on the news tonight that Woolworths is in trouble. Apparently it is going into 'administration'.

All of our Woolworths closed up a long time ago Used to shop there all the time when I was really young. They had a huge one at the Mall I worked at when I was a teen and it had a great little restaurant in it for a quick lunch or snack! Lots of cheap make-up and hair stuff. Great place for a teen working a part time job! _________________ "You can kinda just be. Just live your life -- and play." Adam Lambert - OUT mag.

Also just heard on news that the MFI have also filed for administration - so it's not just one local branch that has closed.
