Total bullshit. In no way, shape or form did he come close to deserving this.

I'm happy he got it. It sends a good message to the rest of the world. And I agree I think he would he would pulled out of the both wars sooner. And I agree with Biden about sending no more troops to Afghanistan. The corruption and mismanagement of that government has not changed one iota. each war costs us 34.3 million dollars per day!

Hey I would have been happy or proud for ANY of our president's to win the Nobel.

I have to ask those of you who are so opposed to his getting it, is he supposed to give it back?

I was shocked he received it mainly because there seems to be such an anti-American mentality out there in the world. Look what happened with Chicago finishing last in the voting for the Olympics when they were expected to win. Yes, there are others who have done more good works out there than he has as of right now but it's the Awards committee that people need to take it out on, not Obama IMO. I take it as a good sign that the world's view of America is changing and they look to your country to lead the way. *shrugs*

No, he isn't to give it back. He just shouldn't have been considered to get it in the first place. Not NOW. In a few years when perhaps something has been done to deserve it - that would be great! In the meantime - it cheapens the award and what it stands for.

I don't have a politics forum here for that very reason - how upsetting it all can be, especially right now. But Adamishot wanted to post about it - so I gave her this thread.

You know, I want world peace too but somehow my name got left off the nominations list this year. Oh and I'm not George W. Bush either.

Who would you suggest then? It AMAZES me that people in this country cannot be proud of the fact that our president won this. And btw I do not think it is total bullshit. what I think is total bs is some of narrow minded bone headed views in this country right now. the fact is WE SHOULD be pulling out of these wars right now. period. We have been in Afghanistan eight years! I've said it before and I've said ot again You cannot export democracy. If you can why are we not in Darfur? Not to mention many other areas of the world that are in desperation. It seems to me that no matter WHAT Obama does or tries to do no one is going to like it. It astounds me .

And this is why we don't have a political forum.

We are ALL ENTITLED TO OUR OPINIONS in this country without being made to feel bad about them. I left the other board and started this one BECAUSE of people continually making me feel like dirt because I do not share THEIR political point of views - which I do believe (at least for now) is still a freedom we have here in the United State.

If Badger and I (along with thousands of others) do not feel it was deserved then we have a right to feel that way.

I'd be much prouder of the fact that The President of The United State won this if he actually accomplished something that made him the best choice.

To me..Nobel Peace Prize means nothing in reality! Peace goes against the way "man" is.Yep, we can try & be peaceful but it will never work, if we are all honest! Religion, bigotry & hardcore extremism will always come in the way!

Thing is,I've accepted that my country & it's various changes over the years do nothing for me, other than take more money in taxes (no kids, run a car,single,smoke,drink, mortgage....but only been unemployed for 2 weeks in my 30+ working life)
I do have the freedom of speech though & that is something that is very important.

Maybe you should start a political forum FC, debating is a good thing (but things DON'T have to be said in caps )

When I type in caps it is just to emphasize the words. After all the "IT AMAZES ME" was in caps was it not? So I was NOT yelling.

Nope - when I opened this board and invited my closest friends from the board we came from we decided together "no political forum". There are a zillion political boards out there in internet land for people to go at each other.

Just this thread alone makes me uncomfortable.

No one's posted in that other forum in a long time. I'm surprised it hasn't been closed down by now.

FWIW, you need a thick skin to post in a politics forum, especially if your point of view is not the prevailing one.

I did notice that Badger - and I do feel bad that it went down that way. But not everybody is a very liberal democrat in this world - and making people who are not feel like some horrible, hateful, stooopid, bigot is just not right. Once people on a board make you feel that way - then posting there is never the same. Hense - no politics here.

In fact - I will lock this thread in a day or so.
