| I try so hard to eat beets because they are so very healthy. I just can't get into them at all. Eric loved them when he was little. I swear he ate way more veggies as a wee one than an older child/young adult. I hope at some point he gets back into veggies more. _________________ "You can kinda just be. | This isn't really a food, but I was thinking about this yesterday. When we were kids, my dad used to make iced tea from rose hip tea which we used to get from the local health food store. Believe it or not, it tasted like roses. Speaking of veggies, does anyone here like alfalfa sprouts or hummus? I love them myself. |

| I love alfalfa sprouts!! I've had store bought Rose hip tea but never homemade. I don't drink much tea anymore (or coffee) as since I got older the caffeine bothers me. I used to drink lots of tea and flavored coffee. Everyday even. Now it is just on a rare occasion that I treat myself to either. _________________ "You can kinda just be. | Eggs are an asthma trigger for me so I bake vegan . Plus with groceries being the price they are these are a bit cheaper. Happy Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients (use vegan versions):
2 cups unbleached flour 2 tsps baking powder 1/2 tsp.salt cinnamon to taste (optional) vegan chocolate or carob chips - put in as many as you like 1 cup raw sugar (turbinado #1, sucanat works too but sucks up a lot of the moisture) 1/2 cup canola or vegetable oil 1 teaspoon vanilla 1/4 cup water
Directions:
VERY IMPORTANT-make sure all ingredients are at room temperature. It will work if they're not at room temp but it works MUCH better if they are. Also while your oven is pre-heating put the cookie sheets you are going to use on top of the oven so they get preheated as well. Preheat oven to 350.
In a large bowl mix flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon (if you choose). Add chips. Make a well in the center and set aside.
In a medium size bowl mix vegan sugar and oil. Mix it well. Add the vanilla and then add the water. Mix it well. Add the wet to the well in the dry. Mix it well but be careful not to overwork it. Add more chips if you need to. Spoon onto ungreased cookie sheets. Put them in the oven. Bake for 5 minutes and then flip and rotate the sheets.(top to bottom, and 180 degree rotation) Bake another 4 minutes and check them.
The cookies are done when they seem a little bit softer then you want them to be. They will harden up some as they cool. I usually go in two minute increments from here untill they get to where I like them.
Take them out when they are done and move them to wire cooling racks. If they split or come apart when you try to remove them let them sit on the pan for 2 minutes before transferring them to the racks. |

| I wasn't into cooking at all when I was a kid, so I never really bothered to check out any of my parents' recipes for anything. Firecracker, does all tea disagree with you? I love herbal teas and many of them contain no caffeine or very little caffeine. Maybe that might be an option for you. |

| Yes, I would probably be OK with a decaf tea. I guess I just never saw the point! Kidding. In the winter at night I have drunk some decaf tea - especially if I have a cold. It's just I can't usually find a lot of flavors in decaf. I bet I could find a better selection on line than in our stores out here. _________________ "You can kinda just be. | There are some good White Teas that have little or no caffeine. Look at some of the Celestial Teas, they aren't too bad. There is a big difference in teas from the 'common' brands to some of the new teas or tea you get in Tea Shops. |

| Thanks! I will check out the white teas. Is that what the "we pluck it" commercial is about? That sweet little Asian guy and the way he says that just cracks me up! Adorable! _________________ "You can kinda just be. Just live your life -- and play." Adam Lambert - OUT mag. |

| I drink Celestial Seasons tea all the time. I usually get several different kinds for Christmas. I love ginger tea. Has anyone here ever had licorice tea? The first time I tried it, it said on the box that it didn't need sweetener so I just had it plain. The first swallow, I was like "Okay it's good but I don't see where it's particularly sweet" and then pow! it was as if I were drinking liquid candy.

| I love Celestial seasonings. I bought a new one yesterday , China Pearl it is decaf. Of course me being from the South people her drink iced tea all the time. But it is filled with sugar. I hate sugar in my tea. My favorite flavor of tea of all time though is Earl Grey. I love the way it smells. |
