| I think your writing is very good. Do you ever read your poetry in public? When I was in college, we had these coffeehouse type events once a month where people could read their poetry, sing, display their art, dance, etc. It was open to anyone: students, teachers, locals, etc.. Anyway, it's a good way to meet other writers and artists, exchange ideas, etc. One of my favorite Roseanne episodes is the one where Darlene is chosen to read a poem she wrote at an assembly but she doesn't want to do it because she thinks the whole idea is hokey. Anyway, she ends up reciting it in a completely emotionless deadpan voice: | Quote: | "To whom it concerns, Darlene's work will be late It fell on her pancakes and stuck to her plate.
To whom it concerns, my ma made me write this And I'm just her kid, so how could I fight this.
To whom it concerns, I lost my assignment Maybe I'll get lucky, solitary confinement.
To whom it concerns, Darlene's great with the ball But guys don't watch tomboys when they're cruising the hall.
To whom it concerns, I just turned thirteen Too short to be quarterback, too plain to be queen.
To whom it concerns, I'm not made of steel When I get blindsided my pain is quite real.
I don't mean to squawk, but it really burns. I just thought I'd mention it, to whom it concerns.." |
There's thunderous applause afterwards and you can see Roseanne and Dan and their friend Crystal wiping tears from their eyes. Then you see Darlene and her expression is "See, I knew you guys were going to embarrass me!" |

| Thanks FC and Badger. I've never read my poetry anywhere before. I've shared it with one or two people, until now, but that's really about it. I usually write just for me with no intention of having others read or hear it even though that would be awesome. Part of me never really felt comfortable enough to share what I have with you now because it is so personal. Aside from that I just wouldn't know where to go that has a poetry night or anything of the sort. I guess there's always a time to look and try it out though. Much of what I posted on the previous page is either not complete or I selected that particular verse out of a finished product that I thought stood out. I've always had a love of writing, but I didn't really start to get into it until high school. I've written 100 songs/poems - whatever you want to call them. They're all in a book somewhere probably in my closet. It's either all very teeny bopper-ish or sad, dark and depressing. Some of it is happy though! I did find one another piece last night that I absolutely love. It's another one that's unfinished, but I think it could stand pretty well on it's own already. I might not even need to anymore added to it. I'll go ahead and post it later along with a couple of other things I wrote. Oh yeah and I loved the show Rosanne!! |

| Here's a little something, something. | Quote: | Don't say you're sorry if you don't really mean it Don't pretend everything is alright When you're really breaking into pieces Don't you know I'm not no fool I can see right through it Cause just like you I'm falling, falling apart But I'm somehow still standing here Keeping myself a float, I won't go down I'm not going to drown And even though I should turn around just walk away I'm staying. Here I am. Pushing through the doors Finding a way back to solid ground No holding back anymore. No time for being afraid. Finally gonna let it go. I'm letting go. Yeah just let it all go. Let go. Let go. Let go.

That is beautiful Teddy. Have you ever thought of putting your poems into poem contest. My sister did a few times and she actually won. I think she has two poems in this poem book that is out. It is a gorgeous hard bound book that is filled with thousands of poems.

| I did actually submit something to poetry.com many, many years ago. And I have a HUGE honorary trophy from them for one of my poems. I honestly can't remember which one it was for so I couldn't tell you. I'll have to take a picture of it sometime and post it on here to show you girls. |
