I thought it might be fun to share the DIY home improvement projects we are working on or have done in the past. We are starting a project on our master bathroom to update it. It is one of those tight budget kind of deals...but I am excited about finally starting it now after talking about it for the last few years. When we built our house there are a few areas where we had to go with lower budget materials and the master bath was one of them. Here is what we are doing: Replacing a resilient floor with Armstrong vinyl floor tiles (they look just like natural stone tile-very cool!) Repainting Replacing a laminate countertop with ceramic tile Replacing the large mirror that is attached to the wall with a smaller framed mirror and replacing the light fixture that will go above it I am so excited! We are starting the process this weekend. The mirror is coming down wo the wall behind it can be prepped for painting and part of the laminate on the countertop is gone. We will be painting first. I was inspired by the cover of Romantic Homes presents Bedrooms & Baths' Fall issue, which is a seaside cottage style bathroom with a natural pebblestone floor. The style of our house is Swedish Country Farmhouse/elecletic cottage.

Does this include DIY disasters?? (I could fill a whole forum with mine ) Sounds wonderful what you are doing with your bathroom!! Mine is still incomplete after I decided I would retile it - errrrrrrrr about 2 years ago - oh the complications I had for such a tiny bathroon too! I'd love to know how you get on with your project - it might inspire me to finally finish (or even restart) mine!

Yes, it does include disasters as well! Maybe we can learn something from each other's mistakes and successes. :) Will do! The mirror is down and the wall behind it is still in good shape so will not need much drywall repair-that is a relief!

That's good to hear (the wall being in good shape) Errrrrr you want to borrow Fang my cat to help - he's ummmm very enthusiastic when it comes to things like this! When I bought my tiny little house 13 years ago, Fang "moved in" 2 weeks later (as a kitten) He seems to have his pawprint on anything I've tried to do. I'm sure his fees would be cheap :) (& it's about time he went & got a job)

I need Fang to fly here and be our remodeling mascot for sure! That would be fun to include him in every photo of the process! I snapped a few shots of the demolition since it is already in progress, I will post them later! My house is usually a disaster because we really live in it and are too dammed busy to clean as much as we would like, so doubt I will posting any home tour photos anytime soon until some major cleaning can take place, but will share the process of this project in the meantime!

For sure she should! I love reading Adrift's posts and hearing about Fang. Hey, I have 3 neighbor cats that think they live here, well at least on my deck begging for food and sleeping on the deck chairs.......I could use Fang to make them all go home!

TiFangtic?????????? I need a blow up of that little photo! You are hysterical Adrift! So glad you have come to keep us company here! Now on to the home improvement update: The hardworking hubby had removed the ginormous mirror to reveal the previous paint color of buttercream. Note the lavendar faux linen finish walls that are going. Ugly navy laminate going soon. New wall color is a grayish blue. The new floor tile, please ignore the hairs all over...I am in my fall shedding phase.

We'll expect regular updates and photos HL. I love DIY projects, and lord, we've done enough of them here! No upcoming projects planned though, well maybe a new kitchen floor to replace the piss poor installation we had done on the current floor.

FC, He'll love that ! I'll tell him you said so! If you look closely though you will see the burn scars he has on his knees/legs that are better, but still pretty prominent below his knees. He got those this Spring on another DIY project when he was spreading concrete for our Doggie run...let's hope no mishaps occur with this one! Hubby tends to be a bit impulsive and accident prone, luckily nothing major though. It took months for those 2nd-3rd degree concrete burns to completely heal. As you can see my master bath is nothing special and fairly basic. That is what my entire house is like. Pergo floors, white wood farmhouse style moulding around all the windows and opennings. Sky, if you replace your floor would love to see it. What material is it and what is happenning now? Today, the plan it to fill the holes and re-texture the wall where the mirror was removed and remove the baseboard moulding in preparation for painting. Will take some more photos after we paint and get the flooring in.

| Poor HLHubby with the burns That must have been so painful. I remember you telling me about that. Glad things are better. You only have one sink in the master? My hubby would be in trouble! I am a sink hog in the morning! :pig: Hey, it takes me a lot longer to look good than it takes him! Good luck with today's project! _________________ "You can kinda just be.
