| It is a bio written by Valerie Bertinelli, the actress who was the young star of "One Day at a Time". She was married to Eddie Van Halen. It is called "Losing It - and gaining my life back one pound at a time". I love her and I thought this would be good reading for 3 hours at the doctor's office during Eric's surgery Friday. I will be in the waiting room at least 3 hours they told me. I think it will be a nice easy read in a waiting room - not too deep, but interesting. She sold a ton of copies of this book and most reviews were really good. Except some people who have been long time fans (like myself) were a little disappointed to find out about her drug use and affairs etc. since they thought she was the perfect little girl just like her TV character. Personally, I look forward to reading those parts. I think it will be interesting to read about her struggles with drugs, marriage and her weight problem - all of which led to her somewhat going into hiding for many years. _________________ "You can kinda just be. | I'm reading "A Prisoner of Birth" by Jeffrey Archer right now and am enjoying it so far. It's has a story line similar to "The Count of Monte Cristo" and will probably have a twist at the end as most of Archer's books and short stories seem to have. I like stories about Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and legends of that time period also, but I haven't read Tristan and Isolde....yet. I'll put that on my list! |

| I am reading Valerie's book. It is very well written. I didn't get to read as much of it yesterday as I thought I would because the surgery went so well and they had me go into the recovery room with Eric so I spent that hour talking to him, the doctor and getting lots of instructions from the nurse. I hope to get back to the book sometime today. _________________ "You can kinda just be. Just live your life -- and play." Adam Lambert - OUT mag. |

| Has anyone read Daniel Silva's books? I see that his most recent book "Moscow Rules" is on the best seller list and the feedback on Amazon is generally favorable. I haven't read any of his books and am thinking of putting that on reserve at the library. |

It is fictional account of Anne Of cleves. I really liked it. I also just read The Other Queen by Phillpia Gregory. It is a fictional account of Mary , Queen of Scots. Next I am reading Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane. Have Y'all read him?He wrote Gone Baby Gone and Mystic River. He is a good mystery writer. |

| I love books about Hollywood - the movies, movie stars, etc. Anyway, I recently got a couple of books about "gay Hollywood". One is The Celluloid Closet which is a history of how gay characters have been portrayed throughout the years. I've seen the movie several times so I thought, what the heck, I might as well read the book too. I also got Open Secret by David Ehrenstein which is more about being gay in Hollywood. I used to read Mr. Ehrenstein when he posted at Table Talk and I always found him very insightful and informative. I also got The Star Machine by Jeanine Basinger which is about the Hollywood star system and I've also ordered an earlier book of hers about silent film stars which hasn't come yet. I also ordered a book about pre-Code Hollywood which should also be arriving soon. I've also ordered The Queen of Subtleties by Phillipa Dunn which is a fictional account of Anne Boleyn. I'm sure it will be fun, frothy reading. |

| I forgot to tell you guys that I finished reading Valerie's book. It was a very fun read. She seems like a great mom and friend. There sure was a lot going on in her life that you never would have guessed based on her happy exterior. Now I am reading "Twilight" and enjoying it! It is going to take me a long time to get through all the books I have waiting next to my reading chair! But I will get around to them all! _________________ "You can kinda just be. | Sky , try Dennis Lehane. Shutter Island is really good. Also Scott Smith has another book A Simple Plan. it is unputdownable. AND the ending does not want to make you scream like The Ruins. I am reading The Hemmings oF Monticello. About Thomas Jefferson ans his realtionship with one of his slaves. Very interesting. |
