Sky, since you like some surrealistic stuff as well as traditional, I thought you may find this gal's stuff interesting.

I love photography and photoshopping so this artist is kind of inspiring to me.

Interesting work! Some thought provoking, some nice, and some weird. Thanks. Most of the time I enjoy realistic and watercolors. Eyvind Earle I like because of its boldness and colors and the realism aspect.

Weird is right - like the ones without heads or spitting their heads! Razz I used to like Dali because his stuff was so weird I could never quite figure out what he was trying to get across with his work. Now I think he was just tripping a lot Laughing

Now I prefer pretty and comforting over WTF? Razz

Does Graciela do illustrations for children's books? I can so see her style working well for that. That Maggie Taylor did the art for an alice in wonderland book that is really gorgeous.

My husband and I enjoy repesentational (realistic) art also. He did that style of painting for a long time. Unfortunately, it isn't what galleries are usually looking for.

I don't think Boulanger illustrates for childrens books. Here is the Wikipedia about her......

http://www.pcart.com/boulanger/index.html

Graciela Rodo Boulanger

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Graciela Rodo Boulanger (born 1935) is a Bolivian painter.
Boulanger was born in La Paz. Her love of painting and music was influenced by her mother, a concert pianist, and her father, a businessman and art connoisseur. She studied music and art throughout childhood, giving her first piano recital at age 15, and her first art exhibitions in Vienna and Salzburg at age 18. Her typical and very common French last name means "baker".
Pursuing her dream to be both a great artist and musician, Boulanger soon found that time would not permit the necessary devotion to both her passions. At 22, she turned all of her energy to painting. She studied etching and printmaking along with René Carcan under Johnny Friedlaender in Paris.
In 1966, Graciela Rodo Boulanger’s artistic ambition began to be realized when she published her first editions of engravings and first exhibited in the United States. In 1979, UNICEF designated her official artist for the International Year of the Child poster, and two of her tapestries were presented in the hall of the UN General Assembly. The Museum of Modern Art of Latin America, in Washington, DC, gave a retrospective of her oeuvre in 1983. In 1986, the Metropolitan Opera of New York commissioned her poster for Mozart’s The Magic Flute, and her paintings were shown by the Art Gallery of Lincoln Center. In 1993, the World Federation of the UN Associations chose one of her paintings to illustrate both a stamp and a limited-edition print on endangered species.

Well, he has'nt been painting for a while since he took up playing the keyboard. We lost most of our good quality photos from his website when our last computer went down, but I can post some thumbnails. Some of the work I will post is stuff he sold in gallery shows or privately, or is part of our personal collection. Unfortunately, all I have are mediocre thumbnails on this computer.

Oh goody an opportunity to brag!!!Embarassedcheers
But here are some things he did several years ago. He did quite a few posters for local events like the Longbeach Kite festival, The Ellensburg Rodeo, and "A case of The Blues" a local Jazz Festival. The originals were usually auctioned off at the events, and posters were sold to raise additional funds for various causes. He also has shown and sold some of his work in international art shows in Texas, California, and the east coast. Although we do have the original of the Kite Festival Poster...the posters are limited edition and sell for 150.00.Twisted Evil

Sorry, these images are not very good quality. We need to update our photos if he ever plans on doing another website. Most of the posters were done in watercolor.

A portrait commission, my hubby is on the right.

In my living room:

Just a sampling. He did a lot of watercolor western stuff for a while, then got bored with that and moved into oil painting. He was having some success with getting into international art shows, but selling his work was very sporatic. Eventually, it became too much of a job and he lost some of the joy of painting. Hopefully, someday he will start painting again.

Have you seen the art of this lady? They remind me of some of your dolls.
